My recently acquired 1045 would constantly maintain a low voltage. I kept on putting it off until one day the batteries completely died. We eliminated the batteries, the ground, the generator, and finally determined the root cause to be the voltage regulator.
I would rate this as a medium DIY project. I give it this rating simply because of the different steps that needed to be taken and not because it's hard or anything.

2024 here. Six years later and this saved me a ton of time. Solid video
I’m glad I was able to help

Much better then the batteries shorting out putting the voltage gauge in red like mine. That blew my voltage regulator, PCB, gauges, and lights. The reason why was because the fool I bought it from (Knights Arsenal) didn't secure or tighten the new batteries he installed for me. Cost me nearly $1,000.
Dustin Ellermann oh, Knights Arsenal, their reputation isn’t good at all!
I'm finding that out. what a weasel.
Nice job! I’m having a similar problem. Where can a replacement? Thanks! 👍🏻
Thank you. You can find the regulator on ebay, or you can call Dave from Hummer Parts Guy.
Cool bro ! Can you please send me the link. Thank you so much for the awsm info. Greetings from Texas 🤠👍
Hey boss I have the A1 generator which is 100 amps 28 volts I was wondering if there was any way to test the generator I did put my voltage meter on the wires at first I was getting 28 plus voltage then it gradually went back down to 24 now I'm sending about 23.9 but my indicator on the gauge stays in the yellow sometimes bounces to Green I checked the grounds everything else seems to be okay there's also a couple wires going to the generator that are sealed up I tested him with my voltage meter it read the same as the wires on top of the regulator do you have any suggestions
Awesome.. Again very helpful.. Thank you!
I don't Give a rats ass very welcome. If you’re having similar issues and need a regulator, let me know.
Ruben Master Damage Controlman. I haven't put the HUMMVEE on the road yet. Hopefully this week. Once i drive it around a little i can see if my batteries come up to full charge. Im just starting to learn about these diesel engines. Not sure if i have 100 or 200 volt generator. And no tachometer yet.
Might be too late but I have the 200A generator just like yours and I am pretty sure my voltage regulator is shot. Where can I get a new one?
U r the life saver
I'm glad I was able to help someone.
GOOD VIDEO
DJAK1 thanks!
So great
Thanks
Man I have some questions 🤓
Ask away
Yes sir would you mind telling me where you got one of the jump cables from and where to buy the voltage regulator from I need both I have multiple Hummve as well and I don’t really have a source to buy the regulator from. It’s not crazy expensive you may even have one you might be willing to sell off of a scrap truck.?
@@BhobsonKatie the jump cables you can buy on eBay. If you can find any I’m sure I have any extra one. They normally go for like 250.
The regulator, before spending money on it I would swap with a truck that I know is good. If I was going to buy one I would buy it from Hummer parts guy. At least you know his stuff is OEM
@@rubenmasterdamagecontrolma5313ok I’ll check out
Thank you
