This is why Gohan is my favorite character in DBZ! He hates fighting and is very gentle by nature but push him too far you'll regret it! When we saw his tears disappear I see that as him losing that innonence and becoming merciless.
Gohan is great and all, but honestly probably my favorite is Pikkon/Paikuhan. Sure, he's an anime-only character from what was technically a filler arc, but that arc is probably one of the best-liked filler arcs in all of anime.
I've been known to have some controversial opinions on filler arcs, for example I'll argue to the grave the the Bount arc was the best writing in all of Bleach and they should have just fully diverged from the manga because every subsequent storyline was a letdown, but I've never met a Dragonball fan that didn't like the Other World Tournament arc.
@@KamiNoBaka1 Pikkon is a good character was underused so people couldn't really connect with him. Back in the day I wanted more of Otherworld fights but then we got the universal tournament so I was satisfied.
Gohan doesn't hate fighting but I agree with the rest
Gohan was holding back, his spirit was wavering because he put everyone in this situation by not taking out Cell earlier.

In the manga(comics), Cell blew up THE MOMENT Goku set foot on King Kai's planet. There was no convo between Goku and King Kai like in the anime, It was filler added by Toei Animation. So no, he didn't have time to use Instant Transmission
I love the mistake that Gohan kills 8 cell Jrs in this scene yet there were only 7 cell jrs. Where did the 8th come from??? lol

I believe the reason Goku didn't instant transmission back was because the creator was trying to pass the hero baton from Goku to Gohan, but the fans loved Goku so much they kept bringing him back. This is just rumors and speculations that I've heard though.
I just want to say latino dub makes this arc 10000x better

The reason why is instant transmission, as much of an oxymoron it is, takes time to do. You have to concentrate on who you are teleporting to.

Hope you get to Dragonball Z abridged. By now it's legendary status because it's super funny but captures the chacarters just as well as the original, often times even better.
To answer your question why Gohan grows in ss2 just because of how much energy he was pushing out his body needed to compensate by growing. It's like too much water for a little cup.
Pretty much why the different ss1 grades make you look roided out.
