You picked the worst one, This version is considered by many to be the greatest solo in rock history. Page at his height and sober. ruclips.net/video/l194JcUWH9Y/видео.html
I remember my first time hearing this i was zoning out in my room headphones on and fell deep in a trance i was at peace man oh also high as a kite off acid lol
I was there but due to advancing senility I’d forgotten that they truncated the introduction sequence. At the time, I thought I must have “ zoned out” for a couple of minutes. Sadly, as soon as the JPJ piano solo began, a little of people around me took the opportunity to take a comfort break , which involved a walk of almost a quarter of a mile. That semi mass walk out sort of spoils the mood of the song, but it’s better than just using an empty wine or beer bottle I suppose. Jimmy’s pretty good on this and clearly they must have rehearsed the reworking of the last half extensive very to get it right on the night. I could be wrong but JPJ said words to the effect that NQ had “ become a bit of a burden” and was dropped after Knebworth. Thanks once again Sir and Madam. Stay safe out there. Best wishes from England 🏴.
Thanks for sharing another timeless Led Zeppelin journey with us! Yes, MSG in '73 was excellent as well. Two live peformances, two totally different rides.
Love the band and this song! I’ve heard No Quarter more times than I can count! I’ve always thought John Paul Jones was underrated, but this performance…Wow! Can’t believe I’ve never seen or heard it before! Thanks guys!!!!!
I saw them in concert April 1977 in St Louis and they performed this song. Such a great song and one of my favorites. Thanks for all the great music u react to.
Awesome! My Dad went to 4 Zep shows in St Louis he missed two there I believe. Wish there was a version of the 77 St Louis show 75 is the only boot available. 🤘🏼
I was there.... and yes I preferred MSG by a long way. But I was there, watching Led f'ing Zeppelin man, and boy was I a happy camper! They were just awesome!
Don't know if you have already done " Achilles last stand" at Knebworth, but there is a great video of it on RUclips. My 24 year old self was there and it was a highlight for me. One very sweaty Jimmy Page nailing it. 😀👍
I have heard that JPJ was a fan of the pianist Rochmonanoff (not totally sure of the spelling) He would often put some of his stuff into his solos during this song
It's so good. And again the drumming is amazing. I couldn't imagine playing behind Jimmy Page. I prefer the vinyl '73 MSG. A smoother draw down back into the slow part in the second half of the song. And yes, Page's guitar playing is his best. Thanks you two. 🙂
Pretty good performance, considering they peaked six years earlier. But yeah, Jimmy back in ‘73 was on another level! Sad to think that only a year after this performance, Bonzo would be gone. 😢

I saw them in 1970 or 71 and they had 3 encores . Boy those were the days .

Fabulous!! Nobody else can jam better!!!
Damn, that was good.
The bass line in this is unreal

Always thought that too. Don't think he was appreciated for what he did for the Band.

Great Work, MfBP! I love your content. Truly reliving the classics.
John Paul Jones, the quiet assassin. Was he using bass pedals before Geddy? I think so.
Nicely done.
☮️💜🤙
my 2nd favourite version of this is from listen to this eddie

Yes, we listened to the long version from MSG 73, and it's the best IMHO
Check out No Quarter live from Seattle 1975. (3/21/75) It deserves a listen and consideration as one of the best live NQ.
No Quarter is one of those songs that will always remain better live than the studio version.
Oh, to be at Knebworth . . . .
Agreed!
Pretty good performance, considering they peaked six years earlier. But yeah, Jimmy back in ‘73 was on another level! Sad to think that only a year after this performance, Bonzo would be gone. 😢
This was supposed to be JPJ's song but Jimmy would steal the show.
You should listen to the version TOOL made of No Quarter.

you know they never played it the same
8/11 no quarter is better
Interestingly bad but good very late passing Zep Quater. That awful winter of 1986/ 87 don't mean the snow.....
