And all at once I'm 16 and listening to records with my pals after school up in my room.
With some primo red hair sinse!😉
I wish my generation had music like this… 😢
Dude…….
It's '83, in order...
Hit the blacklight...
Hit the ....
Hit play and let the magic of the Metal Dirigible take you to wherever your dreams took you that afternoon.
Oh yeah!lol
Look at Amber. This girl belongs in the 1970s. Somebody get her a freakin time-machine.... NOW!!!
She has always said that hippies are "her people".
This entire album is a MASTERPIECE!!!! you play it from start to finish. That's how you listen to House's of the Holy.
I was thinking the exact same thing. I liked this better in the flow of the whole album. I just found out in the last couple of years that Dyer (Maker) is pronounced 'Jer" Never too old to learn something old.
@chrisjamieson3452 yea it's supposed to be Jamaica, but just bad slang.
Most albums from the 70s u need to listen to the whole album, something that younger gens just don’t understand
@KWC33 truth. Today it's all about the single or a song that just dropped. I couldn't wait for the record when artists dropped back in the day.
@@michaelakkerman407 I think this is the reason music was so much better then, they were able to take their time to put together an artistic piece of music instead of being pushed to put a single out for the top 10 that month, and they made their money on record sales.
One of their trippyest albums for sure, I rolled a lot of seeds off this album cover.
Amen!
😂😂😂 ALOT of seeds 😂😂✌️🎸🔥
@@jackalope5589 Memories, glorious memories!
Same,,,,🤘😎
A tune definitely for the spliifs mahn.
The most influential and consequential band of all times is the Beatles.. but the BEST band of all times is Led Zeppelin!!!!
They actually hung out together lol. Harrison and bonham were good friends. I never liked the Beatles but you have to give them their due.
Well Said!!
Once again Amber shows her amazing ability to verbally express how and why the music makes her feel the way that it does! It puts her at the top of the heap of RUclips music reactors!
Jay may catch up one day :)
definetly !
She got Pink Floyd early on. I became a fan then.
My favorite reactorss of all youtube..Jay has grown since video one!!!
Pretty much , Jay is pretty good too , Lex and Brad are pretty good too .
This song was a beast when they played it live. 20 to 30 minutes long.
They could not replicate the album cuts live; page engineered the albums, added guitar, organs while john paul played both instruments. Cant do that live. Huge fan but first to admit live sounds like shit
@@Brandi6666it doesnt. It has a fferent taste live
It is plus one of the greatest guitar solos in a live performance ever.
The Rain Song from this album is a beauty.
Indeed!
It might just be their best.
Perfect for listening to on a foggy or snowy day, at dusk with the sun fading. Another example of how LZ can create a masterpiece in any “ genre”.
and with some good "head change"! Dont get hardly any snow down here in middle Georgia but great for listening on any given night ✌💖☮
Interesting you say that.
My favorite way to listen to it, was when the cold weather started to warm up in the Arizona desert at the start of dusk, and when the hot Arizona summer weather would finally surrender to cooler evenings in fall months.
That song really does set a mood to daytime slowly transitioning into nighttime.
Thee BEST.
Love Amber’s reaction! When you get into it, Zeppelin takes you there! We felt this way at 15 years old !! Always takes you away!! ❤️
LSD and Led Zeppelin go together like Oreos and milk
Well I was going to say a joint and Led
@@gregharmon3797 that was ALWAYS there too 🤩🍻
To build a dream, for me and you.
A Blintz and a Bong? and Zeppelin?
Houses of the Holy is a masterpiece, not one filler song, the entire album is perfect
One of their very best tunes that took on a life of its own live, often going over 10 to more than 20 minutes depending on the extended solos by John Paul Jones and Jimmy Page. Another classic epic of theirs to try is Achilles Last Stand. Legendary Banger, Enjoy!🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶
Jimmy Page has said that "Achilles Last Stand" is their best recording. The live version at Knebworth in 1979 is spectacular.
Here to boost Achilles' Last Stand. What an epic banger that song is.
@@Dr_BombayI can figure out I'm 3 videos to die, aren't too easy. But what sometimes when Jay has a off Dyer something you know, I'm a old man I real. I don't realize the long time ago. The f****** shopping. I gotta you know what I understand but you know I just. You know wonder if if the videos are not coming up or if they got blocked?? I know Jay jay Scott, a dog jays. Works like a dog is always doing something. I just wonder if i'm missing a video?
@@Dr_BombayYou know why? Do you know why? Because? Because I don't wanna mess a video
Love ALS. Can't believe Bonham had any drum heads left after recording it.
I love the way amber reacts to music. She feels it so much and so genuinely
One of my favorite Led Zeppelin tunes❤
Me Too. This Is Up There With Songs Like Stairway To Heaven, Whole Lotta Love, All My Love. Kashmir
This and the Battle of Evermore are their two most moving pieces. Mystical and deep, they reach into your soul.
Heart does a great cover of Battle of Evermore on their live in Seattle concert in I think 2003 or 2004.
All I can say is that a little Mary Jane adds to the experience. This song is a masterpiece. The "Rain Song" is another great one off "Houses of the Holy" album.
lol literally just put it in my HIGH playlist while listening to this vid
This is one of their greatest ever tracks. It's so moody and menacing. It's heavy, but it's more implied than in your face about it.
And it is the result of the pure, uncut genius of John Paul Jones, one of the most underrated musicians in rock history. If Led Zeppelin was a mighty fortress, Jonesy was the mortar that held the bricks together.
@@joeday4293 agree with every word
I'll never know why Stairway To Heaven is the go to track for a lot of people when this absolute masterpiece exists. My very favourite Led Zep track. Thank you so much for reacting to this.
I know you both loved this, but you could see Amber felt every note and nuance of it.
This and Achilles Last Stand for me
Agree with you. This, Achilles Last Stand, When The Levee Breaks for me.
Yet another gem from the GOATS. So unique this one is. RIP JOHN BONHAM
Haunting yet beautiful at the same time,, deeply dark,, eerie,, mysterious & is absolutely steeped in mythology..My personal favorite by them.
That is EXACYLY how you listen to this song, headphones and eyes closed! Thank you, Miss Amber, for seeing the pictures!
I enjoyed watching Amber's face morph from stank face to big ol' grin. She wears her heart on her sleeve and it's yet another blessing.
One the best things JPJ did in Zeppelin.
Now you have to listen to Tool's cover of No Quarter. It's truly amazing how they put their own spin on it.
I was going to comment this but you beat me to it. A friend made me a mixed cd years ago that had some live Tool songs on it and that was one of them. Amazing cover for sure.
tool sucks
Big Tool fan, but nothing comes close to the original
@@wouterlevering4296I have to disagree. Tool’s cover is one of the rare covers that is better than the original. What else would you expect from the greatest band ever?
@@tylerdurden8631
Keep dreaming.
Tool isn't fit to shine Zeppelin's shoes even.
I think this is my favorite Zeppelin song. Like y’all say, it’s a true masterpiece.
Masterpiece for sure! When I saw them live in 1977 JPJ solo was about 20min long. Still have the album still listen to it. You should check out the rain song if you haven't, another classic off the album.❤
Yesssir...live version from The Song Remains the Same...still get goosebumps from that one.🤟
Led Zeppelin In My Time of Dying needs to be soon. It's very long so maybe it can be a one or two video day 😂.
You both were transported to another world right before our very eyes!
I was a teenager and I heard this a few times before I understood what it was about. Incredibly foreboding. These guys as Englishmen, have ancestral memories of being invaded by Vikings, feeling helpless in the snow as doom approaches. Terrifying, really...
It describes the flight of Bilbo Baggins through the halls of the dead, on his way to destroy the One Ring. Read Tolkien. You’ll see.
There is no way to describe Led Zeppelin,Rock Gods. There will never be another like them.
Absolutely
When you went to see the live concert at the midnight movie, this song is where you were guaranteed to smell a healthy cloud of purple haze in the theater. The Song Remains The Same is a must see, in its entirety.
I'm jealous of anyone hearing that for the first time. I heard it with a buddy for the first time literally driving in a snowstorm. Still gives me goosebumps after 40 years.
Wow, how perfect. Glad your foot wasn't slow.
IMO, it doesn’t get any better than LZ! Been a huge fan since the late 60s. Their creativity, melodic sound, jammin riffs, and impeccable percussion, is 2nd to no one! ✌️🎸🤘
I know you don’t often listen to them live but don’t snooze on their live stuff, especially this one live from MSG 73, truly epic.
Yes!
Yes! Quite a bit of MSG 73 was a bit lazy, but they put plenty of effort into the songs from their 'new' album at that time. Page's extended jazz solo was brilliant.
They can snooze on their live stuff.
I've never heard a Led Zeppelin live song that I liked more than the studio version.
Or even liked at all.
My friends and I were teens when LZ came into their own.
Hardly any of us liked their live material.
The live version may have the best guitar solo ever recorded live!
Epic Jimmy Page guitar jam on the 1973 live MSG version of No Quarter.
#1 favorite tune from Led Zeppelin
1973 - House's of the Holy tour. I was 16 yrs. old . When Led started playing No Quarter ,they had smoke pouring out on to the stage floor, with only a couple of purple light 's illuminating the stage. Plant had one leg propped up on his floor speaker while singing. I'm positive that halfway thru song, l was floating about a foot into the air out of my seat. Wow, what a trip. Never will forget it . Oh yeah, the tickets cost a whopping $ 7
The greatest band of all time
Behind Pink Floyd.
Achilles Last Stand is an absolute must
Love this song. But you know what I love even more? The live version on "The Song Remains the Same" soundtrack. One of the all time best.
This is music this is LedZepplin the best band
My favorite Led Zepp album! You'd enjoy The Rain Song
Amber & Jay, here are some other great Led Zeppelin songs to react to: "Achilles Last Stand", "You Shook Me", "How Many More Times", "The Lemon Song", "The Song Remains the Same", "The Rover", "In My Time of Dying", and "In the Light".
Absolutely, "Achilles Last Stand" still remains my favorite.
Achilles Last Stand is Zeppelin's magnus opus .. It doesn't get any better
There's not a stinker in the mighty Zep's catalog 😅
Led Zeppelin. 😊😊😊
It's not just the emotional journey,it takes you to a place, atmospheric
This one is the one that you absolutely MUST watch the live MSG version. Zeppelin took a masterpiece and improved it beyond words. Especially the guitar work. 💯
Yes the live version is better.
You gotta do "You Shook Me" ...I'm surprised you havn't done this absolute banger . it's one of Zep's best IMHO.
Stairway To Heaven is one of the greatest songs ever performed, but this one in my opinion is probably the best song musically, that they ever made.
Hauntingly beautiful and powerful. A masterpiece in every detail 😁
The whole album is very diverse musically, but this track gives perhaps their darkest, mystical of vibes. Such a killer track. 🤘🏽
JPJ sprinkling magic on this
I consider this one of the best songs ever from anyone.
Always a good time for Zeppelin! Try The Lemon song, The Rain Song, What is and What should never Be!! Etc!!!! Love Zeppelin RIP John Bonham!!! ❤❤❤❤
Easily one of the best Zeppelin songs. An absolute classic.
I was raised in Southern California, this song was released in the era when I first started driving. Gas was 32 cents a gallon so I drove a lot. This was my driving out in the Mojave Desert on a lonely deserted highway, at night, at a high rate of speed song! So haunting, it was, and is, perfect.
eight track player in the glove box.👍
Dude is playing Keyboard and Bass pedals with his feet (with a piano overdub) and the Swing and groove the drummer produces to the odd time-signature of the song is off the chart.
John Paul Jones was Musical genius. How he flew under the radar while being in the one of the biggest bands ever is a mystery for all time. His string arrangements are so pivotal to the Zeppelin sound, it can't be overstated.
I'm thrilled you finally did this song! This is one of my songs that always give me goosebumps. Loved watching Amber get lost in the mood.
One of my favorite Zep songs. There is a lot to it. The intro is ethereal yet eerie. And the riff is absolutely killer. There is organ, piano, bass, guitar, drums, and a little theremin. Add Plant's distorted vocals, and you get a great song.
It’s tracks like this that enabled Led Zeppelin to shun the title of being an Heavy Metal Band! They where much more than that!
Amber knows how to rock out, you can tell she knows what great rock is all about. Those expressions says it all.
It takes me back to making snow structures with my big brother while a high school student in Connecticut, and listening to this song on my Walkman. Old school from the 1980's memory. Led Zeppelin is a timeless treasure.
That bass is just relentless. Creates the vibe.
Yikes!! We've had 2 sewer backups this year alone (in a 3 year old house, mind you). I hope your repairs go as smoothly as possible. Ours haven't.
This is one of my favorite Led Zeppelin songs. It puts you in a trance!
You're probably having a service line issue!
@MrDoneboy Part of the line collapsed, which wasn't discovered until the second time it happened. We had it fixed after the second time.
I hear this song and suddenly it's summer of 1974 and I'm 16 again. There's 6 or 8 of us hanging out at Glen's party pad (a converted detached garage his parents let him have to keep the noise away from the house) we've all dropped a hit of windowpane or micro dot (if ya know ya know) and this album is cranked up on Glen's killer reel to reel rack stereo system. I miss those days and would go back in a flash.
Ah, Windowpane, a 1/4 a hit and it was OK, anymore and happy trails! It was the real stuff, best trips were on, just don't take too much! Music like this certainly helped you through.
John Paul Jones is amazing - on every song - but here he really shines. He gives no quarter - no mercy.
I won't be the last one to say that now that You have seen the studio version, you MUST see the live version! It is far and away the best LZ has done to bring a newness to the song!
*I do hope you both will one day try their song; Thank You*
My favorite Led Zeppelin song! This track defines the Led Zeppelin sound for me.
As you say, anyone's top 10 Led Zep's songs could be quite different from anyone else's, but I'd say most would have No Quarter in there somewhere.
As others have said below, The Rain Song is def worth a listen.
This is my favorite Led Zeppelin song by far. The live performance are amazing. 20-30 minutes of Jimmy, Jonesey and Bonham just jamming. It’s be really awesome for you guys to check out a live performance! Either way thanks for the reaction!
I am 73, and when this album was popular, I believe Led Zeppelin, just like the rest of us, were enthralled by Tolkien's Hobbit and Lord of the Rings. This song, I am pretty sure is about the Hobbit's and Dwarve's trip under the Lonely Mountain.
No Quarter, Battle of Evermore, Ramble On and You Shook Me - Just four of my favourites that send you there.
Dude… DUDE… hold onto that woman with all you have. Watching her vibe to this song… HOLY SMOKES.
That’s a lady you want to share experiences with.
Wow sorry what happened with your pipes Jay my man..but baby boys will be baby boys...my son was the same...Love Zeppelin good song choice...love the channel guys you guys RULE
Honestly with Zeppelin you can just put all their songs in a hat and whatever song you draw will blow your mind. You also never know what you'll get, will it be rock, blues, folk, country, jazz, latin, reggae, funk, or like this song a more trippy mind bender. This song is another great example of Plant using his voice like another instrument rather than simply as a singer and the echo effect is haunting.
I see a lot of people suggesting the song "You Shook Me" and I'd like to add my name to the list. It's a killer blues song with multiple instruments getting their own solos and Plant just kills it like always.
Wow! This takes me back to have a quad stereo system with quad headphones. The sound of Zeppelin and Pink Floyd going around to all 4 speakers! So good!
I recently heard someone say that John Paul Jones was the "special sauce" in Led Zeppelin - perfectly said. What a multi-talented man!
Yes ! The pictures it paints in your head are everything ! I’ve had a psychedelic brain since I was a kid and could see the music inside my head . Many other kids thought I was weird. But as I got older and we all experienced psychedelics , I knew I had the gift all along. Music is like a drug to me . I love seeing y’all feel these songs and see the beauty in your mind too ❤
Me too, can't live without it!
Yay! I've been suggesting this one for a while! This is yet just another side of Zeppelin. It's a WHOLE mood! And such imagery it conjurs! You can feel the snow driving back the foot that slows!
So glad you loved it!
Absolutely perfect for an Autumn 🍂 or Winter dawn or dusk with mist or fog or snow falling. In a warm room with candlelight. Glass of wine 🍷 optional.
Wikipedia - Houses of the Holy is the fifth studio album by the English rock band Led Zeppelin, released on 28 March 1973 by Atlantic Records. The album benefited from two band members installing studios at home, which allowed them to develop more sophisticated songs and arrangements and expand their musical style. Several songs subsequently became fixtures in the group's live set, including "The Song Remains the Same", "The Rain Song" and "No Quarter". Other material recorded at the sessions, including the title track, was shelved and released on the later albums Physical Graffiti and Coda. All instruments and vocals were provided by the band members Robert Plant (vocals), Jimmy Page (guitar), John Paul Jones (bass, keyboards), and John Bonham (drums). The album was produced by Page and mixed by Eddie Kramer. The cover was the first for the band to be designed by Hipgnosis and was based on a photograph taken at Giant's Causeway in Northern Ireland.
The image cover, display in their video, Zep fans will know is the cover of “Houses of the Holy”.
Not all, like our review duo, know this is a location in Northern Ireland. The Giants Causeway, it at a north-east point facing Scotland’s Kintyre peninsula (which Paul McCarney did a brilliant tune about; he has property there). The youths, climbing naked on the rocks, has been controversial, usually a paper band around the cover for “modesty”. The rocks are mostly hexagon shaped, Basalt volcanic, from the water up to cliffs. Legends say that Celtic Giants crossed between Eire and Scotland, and fought on these rocks.
They have so many great songs. Another one with great vocals and amazing music is My Year Of Dying.
In My Time of Dying
The live version from the movie The Song Remains the Same is even better ❤
Agree 100%
I third that!
Close the door turn out the light....no they won't be home tonight...
I listened to this over and over, along with every other Zep song growing up. Amazing!
How blessed we were to grow to with Zep, Floyd, Sabbath, Deep Purple, Allmans, Skynyrd etc. etc.
Okay now you have to do the Live Version from Madison Square Garden from 1973. You will be blown away by the live version of No Quarter. Incredible
Agreed. This one ruclips.net/video/WD8hJ-awjBc/видео.html is great. No video though, just 12 minutes of greatness
It's amazing how this song makes you feel like you've had a hit from a bong....without taking a hit from a bong. lol
Funny story about this song. First of all absolutely LOVE it. On our way to an annual Thanksgiving visit to family in Lake Placid, NY we were driving the last leg through a mountain pass and snow the road was covered in snow. I finally got control of the music selection (previously my young kids were watching a movie in the back seat) and I put this song on. I felt like I was transported into the song with mountain gorges and frozen lakes along the side of the roadway, but it was snowing big time and I finally had to turn off the song because I realized I had white knuckles from gripping the steering wheel so hard!
You guys are too cool. Perfect couple. Love when Amber reacts to something trippy. She's instantly in tune with the vibe. Thanks for all the entertainment you guys provide. Rob Squad Rocks!
Absolutely correct when you say you can get lost in this. I've seen Led Zeppelin four times live and when this song and Kashmir was played the place and the audience went into a mellow flow. All of their songs are great, but those two songs made people melt into their seats. Zephead for many years and I am thrilled to be born into a time when bands like this were out on tour.
The best Zeppelin song is always the one I just listened to, and my favorite, is all of them!
Sat in "the circle" more than a few times back in HS to this song.
This absolute classic DESERVES A DEEP DIVE into the lyrics which makes a second listen necessary & WAY MORE IMPACTFUL
..TRUTH!!
John Paul at his finest...
Back when I was a Viking marauder in 800 AD, we used this song to pump ourselves up prior to the pillage and onslaught of the puny English. Halfdan, Sigrid and I took many heads, treasures, and odd kitchen utensils those days I can tell you! TIL VALHALL!!!
Ha, ha. You’re the first person pointing out that it’s about the Vikings.
One of my all time favorite songs Period! Love the bass especially on the live version.
i was very curious to hear what you two would think of this one. it's pretty unique in their catalog. it's definitely a mood, and really features John Paul Jones. so good.
Great example of why--especially with very creative bands--it's important to listen to a lot of their songs. You never know what you'll experience, and it'll be worth it.
Weather here is mighty fine. Aloha ya'll from Hawaii, where it's always a good day to listen to the mighty, mighty Led Zeppelin. I was at this concert back in the day in L.A. at the Forum. ✌️🤙❤
You could say this for just about all of Led Zeppelin's songs, but great song.
Amber, I love watching you. It's like the music just takes you over. And you always seem to catch the lyrics enough to know what the song is about.
But my favorite Zeppelin album is Psychical Graffiti. It would be great to see you guys react to a few of those songs.
In My Time Of Dying or Ten Years Gone
consider reacting to the Led Zeppelin song "You Shook Me" - it's one of the best songs in rock music history.
