Clean af, meticulous build. I appreciate also the ‘how to’ aspects of y’all’s content. You guys have a collective great sense of humor as well.
this brings back memories. my friend Richard had this bike in Orange, and his sister had the pink version. my bike was a pos, i was always jealous of them.
I still wear Maui and sons shirts too... Your a man of my heart. Beautiful build. The nicest bmx i had in the 80s was a scheinn predator. I want to find a gt frame really bad.
It is beautiful! Absolutely one of my favorite videos! Would love to see more of these!
Nice! Greetings from Oceanside California 🤙
Super clean build man! This take me way back bro I had the 87 Magenta GT Performer! So many awesome memories of that bike!!
another nice rebuild Pho 👍🤛🥇🥇🏆🏆💯💯
That's a beautiful gt I still own my gt pro performer from 1985..
in Austria the Pro Performers and World Tours of that year had white laidbacks and handlebars....with exeption of the chromed models of course
This build is super nice!! Unreal!❤😮
Gorgeous GT
Really nice GT, nice build, dry ice blasting might clean up the seat. Thanks for sharing....
Great build, enjoyed the content. Love the colors of that time period.
Beautiful 😍
Awesome gt performer👍some day I will find a frame and build my own again
Im ahuge fan of your show , keep doing your good job.
I am 50. I love this !!! I got to ride with all the OG riders of the 80s and 90s -- and I had all the great bikes like this - GT ProPerformer and Freestyle Tour. Haro FS Master. Dyno ProComp. SkywayTA etc... I miss them all. My favorite though were my Dyno ProComp and GT Pro Freestyle Tour. I DON"T understand why bike companies DON'T make bikes this good anymore!!
I wish I had not gotten rid of my bikes... makes me sad -- didn't realize what I had back then...
Now I am looking for a great bike for my 7 year old that is starting doing frame stands, no handers, wheelies and rides like lightning... I have NO idea what bike to get him! All the bikes I see today - suck... in comparison to what I grew up with... Am I really going to have to spend $800-1k to get a bike of the old school OG quality??
No complaints 👌 bike came together well.
Beautiful build 🎉
Super sweet '87 Performer. I really like the OKG mags, the original seat, brake calipers, levers and stem. I would have gone full factory as much as possible with one-piece cranks and GT alloy pegs front and rear. I would have routed the front brake cable INSIDE the fork, and all cables up top in FRONT of the cross bar with the front cable against the cross bar to help prevent the "clinking" sound of the Gyro splitter bouncing against the cross bar. I would have gone with a factory color such as lavender, blue or white. I really like black for this Performer, but mags and seat might be harder to find. I do believe some original black and chrome '87 Performers did come with white mags & parts, though, as I remember seeing those when I was a kid. Super rad bike; the decals and mags look great!
Wow nice job guys! Awesome build i remember seeing these new on the showroom floor at Roy's bike shop in Upland California back in the day.
Phu you really should have routed the front brake cable inside of the fork leg and also the Gyro cable underneath the handlebar.
Performer forks did not have internal routing Pro Performer forks did.. I'm almost positive..99 percent
@@mikehagen3785 The front brake cable can still be routed on the inside of the fork leg using a couple of zip ties.
@@tonypeters7504 I see, I misunderstood, and I agree, it should be routed imside
@@mikehagen3785 Now you can please disassemble and ship it to my mailing address for a permanent home.
@@tonypeters7504 it has a very nice home. Lol
Great build and the costumer is stocked.💪
Super cool !!!
Sweet build 🤩
You gotta line up the tire logo with the valve! Easiest thing to do an it makes it look factory.
Hey phu love the classic bmx trick shenanigans.had me smiling😂
Sweet 87 good job I am doing a 97 team pro performer thanks it has just given me a push 👍👍👍👍
Dope ride man! Wish I could share a pic of my 1987 Detour here. You would love it!
Nice bike! Front brake cable is cleanest mounted inside the fork leg.
Side by side brand new GT agents Survivor I think the bike turned out great Phu 👍🏾
I'm 49 years old and I still ride bmx. I run my Panaracers on my original 1980s skyways at 60-70 psi at all times NO ISSUES!
Triflow has been my best investment since getting back into bmx bikes lol. Seriously I always hated my brakes back in the day.. if I had a lil triflow I’d be all set.
Wow that is a work of art the GT 's from mid 80's are timeless
I need that Epic shirt!
Another great build guys. I love what you are doing with these old school builds. You get quite a few freestyle type bikes to rebuild. Do you get many race bikes e.g. Patterson(little biased). Also a tool I included in my kit is a Self-adjusting Bootlace Terminal Crimp tool to crimp the brake cable lug instead of side cutters. Gives a more professional finish. It is an electronic tools and it is perfect for the cable lugs and finishes a build off nicely and is totally just a looks thing as side cutters still do the job, but look like side cutters have been used.
I had a harp with the old 6 straight spoke wheels I put the new Haro lineage tires on it. I ran 90psi with out an issue. I had that bike 2 years with out losing a pound. The only issue I have with high pressure is there is no forgiveness. Neighborhood asphalt is what I had to ride on. It felt my teeth where being jarred out of my head the ride was so ruff lol 😂.
Perfect build, would change Ame grips for ODI mushrooms
Beautiful bike an how did I miss this video 😮😮😮😮❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Not my style of BMX, but that is an amazing build and I do really appreciate the work that went into it. Congrats
KEEP THE CONTONT
The what?
DO YOU UNDERSTAND
CONTONT
I wonder if it was C4 labs who did the paint. Supposedly they do a great job. The build came out awesome, nice work!
My first BMX was a black GT Performer, I was 8, it was a gift after my mom died in 87, that bike meant the world to me... so I bought the reissue, great build!
Bike looks really nice
I rock my Skyways at about 50~55PSI... for comfort, any harder my bones shake LOL, but have had them @ 80PSI, I'm old now... I just putt around on ma ol` skewl BMXs
So dope. We had the best sh!t ever and we didn’t even know it. Nothing today come close to the 80s!!!
Dope! 👍🏾
Beautiful bike 💯💯💯💯💯💯💯😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍👍👍
A friend of mine had one of those and a "Ross Piranha" and I can tell you that's an amazing job you've done. I remember it having pegs tho.... The predator had the surf board as well and surf bars so was a bit more fun but back then as for style, you couldn't be beat.
Except my aluminum GT. Honestly cant remember the model but it was rectangular aluminum tube frame and looked a lot like the performer but also had surf bars. It was Purple.
Edit= I typed "predator" and looked it up, it was an 86 "Ross Piranha". (pink and white)
When I was 12-13 I'd ride my 83 Mongoose Californian, which I loved, to the bike shop and I'd sit on this exact model GT Performer and debate on spending all my lawn mowing money on it. In the end, I spent it on a gocart instead. But I wished I'd have bought it...would have been cool to still have it. I really did love that bike. That bike screams 80's more than any other.
god thats nice looks brand new
You were thw man if you had a GT performer backnin the day
In the movie Big, Tom Hanks had a lay forward post on his mongoose. Haha
🔥🔥🔥
more builds!
Aye I live across the street on magnolia and Warner, so when I get my new bike ima cruz on over to the shop and check it out
I was shown a NOS Hutch Exel today and I thought of y'all!
Prob C4 Labs did the powdercoating
They did! Chip at C4 labs did an awesome job and quick turn around. Very happy.
@@edwardrodriguez8170 Nice! It looks really good.
Pumped up some Kenda crackpot tyres on Skyway's yesterday upto 60psi. Now I'm worrying I should release some air
Wow love that way forward seatpost where can I find one when I do do I flip the handlebars too? 😎
Need more old school builds guys
I looking for a new bike for my kids ended up seeing your videos you are hilarious 😂 . I'm starting to love these old school bikes. What yal think of the 80s Dimondback
The only thing I would’ve done different is put a white and chrome chain. Everything else is spot on. If you could get the seat, cleaned up without removing the lettering go for it, but if not, leave it alone.
I ran 50 to 60psi on my 1985 Skyway mags and did 3 foot bunny hops often
If anyone in the New England area need poweder coating hit up powder pros New Bedford Mass. they plug all the threads, don’t put it on to thick in all the right places so you can see markings and stampings plus the price. Called half a dozen places min and he was the best price to boot
I had the original white performer but it was 86 unfortunately when I got older and let it go to shit in the shed😢
Fresco ✊🏿
She's a Beaut Phu!
👋
Always ran my Skyways with Kendas at 60psi and never had an issue
I need those brake lines, do you sell them and ship them?
"The secret is to lube all these parts right here." Last spot pointed at was the brake pad....😄👌
You gotta get back to work? I thought you were working already putting that awesome bike together. Hahahaha
im needing tire sizr im looking at 20x1.75 for my build but not sure
I had a chrome one. Stole in 95
What brand of brakes are those?
I owned one of these back in the day. I mowed a lot of lawns to get this. Back then it $375
🔥👩🚒🔥
Nice little bike, for the lady's, barbie style....
32,to 34 p.s.i.....anymore, brov, it's stretching out the tyres....word 😊
The cable loop on the front break should inside the fork...not outside
Quero compra uma
NOPE,dont dare blast that seat cause that logo is way too clean! Only 40 developer in the sun and it will be super white, but it looks white enough and id leave it alone. Bike came out great. Btw the odyssey slic cable never kinks so it can be cut very short and work smoothly,i swear by those cables. Differently id swap that chain for a blk/white kmc chain and the cable both toward front of the bars or behind it. The gyro cup and brake decals are on ebay or musuem btw. It looks like C4 Labs did the powder and decals btw,its the only place i send my bikes to get powdered and worth the price u pay. My 87 pft brs are there now getting powdered today actually. Im glad the customer is happy ,reliving it and that all that matters.
Please build an over the top mid school bike
I wonder what the odds are that this bike gets restored in another 30 years
I have the 87 Pro Performer freestyle
Phu what is
A radio bmx bike complete bike like as a beginners bike
Hey Phu I called and left my number if y’all wanted to holler back , I got a sweet purple 87’ Dyno Compe , i was hoping someone would be interested in buying it
Where’s the shop located and name ?
Shop website thx
Don't know why but I always try to keep the three points of contact same color seat, grips, pedals
My 87 gt jr in Australia 🇦🇺 is it a freestyler?
Shame your so far away, I have a perfect survivor to put next to it
if you rode that bike in the '80s.....you wouldn't have to come out to your friends and family, they would already KNOW.
guys could i somehow send you some photos? i have gt that i dont know if is pro perfomer 98, performer 99-01, or matbe vertigo. it doesnt have the decals, it does have serial number and etc, i am not an expert, i know a bit. but i am a bit lost qith this one. maybe i could make a video?
The bike is way to clean to ride.Another carpet queen but still nice to look at.❤
What bike shop is this? The Instagram is a bmx rider, I need to talk to this dude in the video about getting some parts
Is that a gt chain?
Why wouldn’t they come out with this again? Sell like crazy
