The answer to “do you think Joan Crawford would be please with the way you portrayed her” would undoubtedly be “no.” Joan was such a private person who struggled mentally and emotionally, so I’m sure putting her personal life out there would displease her regardless of who portrayed her. Jessica Lange was a good sport touring a sense of you. Most of these interviewers are not what you call real journalists and very often the questions they ask for those you would expect from a teenager. Despite it Lange handled it very well and was very patient during this clip.

I love Jessica Lange so much. In my opinion her role as Frances Farmer in the movie Frances was her greatest role. She is a lovely gentle down to earth person which considering her star status is very refreshing. A wonderful Lady and a fine Actress.
Jessica Lange has captured the complex and traumatic minefield that was Joan Crawford! She isn't just playing Crawford convincingly, she becomes Crawford. She should be the one to win the best actress awards...

Her former long time partner Sam Shepherd who co-starred in Francis with her(a tragic true story about a famous actress from the 30's/40's who was horribly mistreated by the studios & her cruel selfish insane mother who had her committed & later lobotomized) showed what a brilliant actress she was. He told her to never have plastic surgery because it would ruin her face, & hurt her ability to emote as an actress. Jessica was a beautiful woman well up into her 50's & is just now showing age. I don't think some subtle improvements would harm her looks, she is in the business where woman are judged on their looks & aging is sometimes a death sentence. I think Jessica has been lucky that the director of American Horror Story used her for all the series's & he seems to love her which is great because she is not young anymore & ageism is a real thing not just in Hollywood. She is a great actress that deserves great parts. I loved the way she looked in the American Horror Story, when she played the head witch, it was a juicy role & she looked fantastic. I loved her playing Joan Crawford as well. She knows how to play broken women. Susan Sarandon has aged beautifully, & does not look her age. If she has had work, it looks great because it does not have that awful puffy or pulled back look, that you see so often even in younger actresses like Lindsey Lohan, & others who have the over puffed lips that look just awful as well as the over done body work. Your top lip is not supposed to be larger than your bottom. So many actresses have ruined their looks getting these injections & bad implants that are too large & now the ridiculous too large butt implants which look freakish. I don't get why they don't go to a reputable plastic surgeon. I do professional make up for film/fashion & am an artist in that I draw, paint, etc. & I also study the muscles & bones & the structure in the face. I use the hair to frame the face & use it to camouflage weakness so I do not get why these so called plastic surgeons ruin these attractive women's looks by over exaggerating things. I remember what Kim, Khloe, & Kylie Kardashian looked like before the lip implants, the breast implants & the hideous butt implants. You look at their sister Kourtney & she is the only one that looks attractive & normal. When Khloe did the nude campaign for PETA she looked great! Her breasts & butt were still natural. Now their rears ends/hips, looked absolutely deformed. I hope Kylie has not gone as far as they have but she has definitely morphed into looking like her older sister Kim's clone. Kim was a beautiful woman before she had so much work, but the butt implants have ruined her body making her & Khloe look freakish. I think in their case they wanted this look. But a surgeon still should have told them it would look unnatural & harm the way they look, & refused to mutilate them. Kylie had very thin lips but she was still developing, & I think like Kim she has had everything done, from her lips to her nose, to her breasts & butt & maybe a rib removed to make her waist look smaller. The other worst plastic surgery on young women were those playmate twins, the Shannon twins who were Hugh Hefner's girlfriends a few years ago when they made playmates & appeared on the playboy series's " The girls next door" who looked fantastic before they had botched nose jobs, botched breast jobs & then after they had those corrected(I thought their breasts still looked freakish because they were way too big for their frame) then they had those huge butt implants put in. It ruined their natural looks. They look like cheap strippers. They had great long legs & perfect butts, their breasts were a smaller average size & fit their frame, not huge but looked great. They said they felt pressured to get the huge breast implants but then were botched & no longer were identical. I watched the botched show & was surprised the surgeon did not suggest they go down to at least a small C, because of their frame that still would be a big size on them. They were still developing as you do up until the age of 25. I believe they were 19 when they had all that done. Which is too young to start changing your body, both because mentally you are not mature & physically your bones are still forming. I think Jessie's ex probably gave her some good advice.about having too much plastic surgery & injections.

Joan 's personality been maligned so much by her adopted daughter Christina Crawford's book and the awful over the top film "Mommie Dearest" that her work as a great actress has been diminished. Jessica doesn’t really like to talk about "Tootsie". She considered that movie an afterthought after making "Frances", a movie she felt never got the recognition it deserved. Unfortunately "Frances" went up against "Sophie’s Choice" that same year and was neglected. Making "Tootsie" was a bad experience as the set was fraught with battles almost everyday with Dustin Hoffman. The working relationship between him and Lange was not a good one. Hoffman alienated just about everyone on the set of Tootsie.
I think everyone wanted to know if Susan Sarandon really kicked Jessica Lange. Apparently no real dirt to dish from the set of The Feud. Jessica and Susan got along, otherwise you know we'll be hearing about it from the tabloids ! Producers and directors---take note, give Jessica Lange more roles !
