- 30 hours of work in 15 minutes. Enjoy!
Hey! Here is a new small project I made in my free time and between feedbacks over the past couple of months. It took him about 30 hours to create the model and render, and a few more days to create the video.
I haven't posted anything new for several years and it's starting to bother me. I've been working on a few characters in my spare time, but they ended up being too ambitious and taking months to complete, and I didn't have too much free time, so they're currently stuck. So I decided to try something smaller, without low poly and other boring and time-consuming crap. I made a polypaint in zbrush and rendered the character in marmoset. In the end the model weighed 70 million polygons, but to my surprise my new computer was able to handle it in Marmoset, although there were a few crashes.
Music:
KARAAL - Imagine
KEYS - Soulll
Programs used:
Zbrush, Marmoset, Photoshop, After Effects
Artstation - www.artstation.com/gagarin

There something so satisfying watching a great piece of art come together, technique by technique. Excellent work.
Thanks a lot!)
This is really inspiring. And thanks for also sharing your process for how you present your work. That was so much effort, and I have to admire the little detail of making the eyes pop even in the animated turn
Thanks a lot)
Absolutely amazing and so nice that you show your photoshop work and everything else not just the modelling ☺️
Thanks ☺️
@@IlyaGagarin be nice to see some more videos though, I’ve just found your channel and watched them all 😂
@@oscarcampbellhobson I would love to, but they are difficult to make and require a huge amount of time) I hope to be able to do it again someday)
Oh my god, you’re back! I can’t tell how many times I watched your previous videos in awe. You are a true artist and are so talented! Your attention to detail is bar to none. When I saw this posted, I gushed to my sister and ranted about how excited I was to watch it! Masterpiece! Hope to see another video soon!
This is so nice) Thank you for this comment, it made my day)
Probably one of the most helpful walkthroughs I've ever seen!
Thanks)
Thanks for sharing your workflow! It's very helpful! You're very impressive!
You're finally back man! I'm happy. Was a little worried and sad that such a great artist has faded. I'm glad that you haven't given up on art man and apparently your skills are still impeccable after 4 years!❤🔥
Thank you very much) I didn’t give up art, I just didn’t have a lot of free time to create something for the channel) Thank you for not forgetting me, I appreciate it)
Man, i still watch the Shinobi breaking down as you made. I love your work congrats and thank you for sharing.
Thanks a lot!)
EPIC!! Love every second of this!! Awsome video!!
Glad you liked it)
I've been waiting for you for 4 years
I'm so glad you're back on youtube again!

Loving it! Superb job!
Thank you )
MY GOD WHAT A JOB, IMPRESSIVE WORK.
Thanks 😀
That's perfect. Please make more videos because we really like your art
Thank you) I'll do my best)
Such an efficient artist!
Thank you )
I've grown up as artist with the Shinobi making of, it's one of the first video I've ever seen about character modeling with a full workflow, I started just watching it because I couldn't understand the majority of the actions made in that video; now after years I can understand every step and I'm happy to see another video from you.
Thanks for the comment, I appreciate it, I'm glad that my videos motivate people)
@@IlyaGagarin For sure, when I started I couldn't understand what you were doing ahahhaha, sometimes I still come back on it. The only thing that I can't understand is how do you bake so many details (like fabric textures) because I tried but maybe my PC is not powerful enough. Right now I am facing an issue on zbrush: even with an 8k map dedicated only to the face I'm getting pixelated details, I don't know how to proceed in my project.
@@JoHnWxNoW98 This is quite strange, maybe the problem is in UV and you are not using all the space, or when baking you set the quality of the textures to low.
@@IlyaGagarin hey, in the end I solved that by importing again the low poly, I don't know why but it worked
I wish I could be as talented as you are with sculpting. Amazing time lapse the best I have ever seen!
Thanks!)
Legend is back
hehe, thanks)
@@IlyaGagarinwhere have you been

I thought this channel is dead! But now I can subscribe!)
It's ALIVE!
Yep)
Really would love to see your polypainting breakdown how you used layers and masks-it's solid!
I just turned on layers if I wasn't sure what I was doing)
Amazing🎉
Thank you )
nice work
Thanks!
This is ground breaking absolutely incredible! Texturing, sculpting, and cloth design it’s ridiculous! I would ask how long did it take to learn of this complex stuff.
Thank you! You can learn in a couple of years, but honing your skills is endless.
my heart just stopped
wow, i gotta look up how transpose works. that part where u repeated shapes and transposed them onto the torso and cut away was awesome. it reminded me of photoshop's transform/deform/warp tool. didn't know u could do that in zbrush
Glad you liked it)

Thanks)

Great work man! Question: how can I get the cloth damage alpha brushes that you used? The result is amazing!
I've been waiting for you!!😢
sorry for the wait :)
imma be honest witcha' chief
i need those VD Brushes real bad 😮💨
awesome work! Where can I get the ripped fabric alpha?
Thank you) The artstation store is full of different alphas
Nice porces bro, where we can get that brhushes and alphas??
Good job man butI dont like that you have to paint in the shadows in zbrush and paint in brighter eye colors. But overall good job man
Hello. Where did You find such a cool brush for making old rags?
nice, can you share your zbrush UI?
Can you tell me what program you used to sketch around 30 seconds? Your work is truly amazing!!
Thank you) The program is called lightshot it's for screenshots
do you sell the full real time videos of any project that you have done? or maybe tutorial?
Top
Thanks)
Hey, welcome back. Loved your Shinobi making videos. What happened to you? It's been 6 years.
Hi, Thanks!) Just work and shit..
Wheres this Character from?? So dope and inspiring!!
Thank you) This is an original character
What alphas did you use to make the skin?
how many gig's is a finisched product?
What did you use to make the skin?
is the marmoset model a decimated model with polypaint, or with uvs and textures? Looks sharp
Thank you) It's just high poly
Nice , I like how you texture only in the zbrush. Did you use vertex color for the marmoset? Because I didn't notice the lowpoly model
Thank you) Yes, that was the essence of this project, I wanted to do it quickly, just a sculpt and render)
@@IlyaGagarin I understand, I personally like this quick process. and I like to use it
how did you make those alphas for the cloth ?, this is really cool :D
I just downloaded them)
@@IlyaGagarin what is the name of that cloth alpha brush set?
Hi sir, can you tell me what skin detail pack you using please ?
Tell me if he tell u
Hi Ilya, awesome work!. This time are u rendering in Marmoset without the retopology process?? Can Marmoset support the high poly model that easy or u did retopology out of camera?
It can handle high poly, but it depends on your computer, I used to have 16 GB of RAM and the marmoset always crashed at 15 million, now I have 64 RAM and it handles the 70 million scene quite well
@@IlyaGagarin mmm interesting, ty for your time answering me 😊
@@IlyaGagarinI hate this damn retopology. It's a huge obstacle to convey to game developers. It's still primitive for humans to do this.
Algo
This is superb! How do you study and practice 3D? I mean, I got curious how's your daily 3D study routine. You are a master, a fucking PRO.
Thank you) Well, basically I just work, create characters and naturally my level grows. I watch tutorials, practice, analyze other works, try to learn something, basic things just regularly and for many years. And I still have a lot to learn.
@@IlyaGagarin nice my friend, thank you for answering
I wanted to ask, where did you find all that alphas, especially the fabric ones?
There is a lot of stuff in the artstation store
do you decimated the model first? or just put those 65million vertices to marmoset?
My computer could handle it so I didn't desimate
Did you decimate it before going to Marmoset?
No it's just high poly
:)
I can edit your videos.Could be my way to learn. Lemme know if it makes sense for you.
Thanks for the offer) Unfortunately, I don’t have enough content to hire a special person for this)
I'm sorry dude, it just lets me like it one time.
thanks)
Core i7-12700F

64 gb ram
What is yours PC specs
