    I live in the US, so it would be way too far for me to travel to visit your shop. That being said, I am very grateful for all the things I've learned from your channel and I commend you for giving such great one on one service and being so open about it! Excellent work, good sir, the world needs more people like you and your associates.

    Chris. It’s a five hour, 230 mile round trip for us when we come (bit closer than Danis 🤣🤣)……… but I’d never even THINK to go anywhere else mate. Cracking operation, and sterling advice always, and the shortbread with Yorkshire tea, just seals it 😉. I’m 60 now, and biker for 44 years, plus a few more before that on a Mobylette, round the garden. Almost everything I know about modern, technical bike gear, I learned from you and the guys, from the shop, and from your excellent vids. Your passion, knowledge, but above that, your CARE for the customer is the best, bar none. Fact.

    I did visit the shop when I was working in the area. The shop is small, definitely not a destination bike shop for browsing in, but the service was what I wanted, made a bad choice on the previous helmet and it was an expensive mistake, so having somebody fit one properly was perfect, happy with what I got even though it wasn't the helmet I had in mind when I walked in.

    Recently got my hands on a Shoei Glamster in my country after 7 months of wait. Prior to that i've been watching videos from here with regards to correct helmet fittings to reviews of the helmet i wanted. So i came down to my local store armed with knowledge i learnt from Chris and Motolegends and put into practise what i learnt. And my local shop is more than happy to obliged. Thanks Chris, advice that carry weight halfway round the world!

    I only found out about Motolegends via a Friend who uses you. Since that time, almost 2 years ago i've avidly watched your gear review, frequently browse your site & also visited a few times too.
    Nigh on all gear i currently have has been bought from your store, and the rest will be when it's due for replacement. I find the gear you offer matches my needs, and your in-depth product reviews allows me to understand it before i see it & come down to try on the sizes.
    Everyone at the shop is incredibly knowledgable about the products, very helpful & i have never left dissatisfied.
    Keep up the excellent work you do, both online and in-store. Whilst my bank balance may not appreciate it, i certainly do!

    I was in today for a thicker liner to be fitted to the Shoei Neotec 2 that I bought recently, now fantastically comfortable and a perfect fit. Also picked up a Klim Zephyr which will cure a problem that I have in spring and autumn with my Forsair jacket being too draughty at each end of the day. Brilliant coffee and service as usual, all motorcycle gear outlets should be this good.

    In my Opinion, you are providing a great service for the motorcyclist who has the budget for the better quality (expensive) clothing that is available in the uk. The problem with the other retailers you mention is their stores usually only have a limited size range, so it’s impossible to try a product if for example you are smaller or taller than average. Very frustrating.

  • @paulsire
    @paulsire 2 года назад +5

    I would agree with all your comments, with one exception ... you sell at the manufacturers recommended price. In most sectors that have this, it is an aspirational figure, a would like to get rather then a realistic amount. Generally way off the mark, an amount to include on signage, next to the selling price, to show a potential customer what a great bargain they are getting. 35% markup is decent. Having said all that, if you were in Ireland, I'd be the first in line.

    • @Motolegends
      @Motolegends  2 года назад +6

      That’s going to depend on the business. If you have low overheads, offer little service, and are prepared to pile it high in order to sell it cheap, then perhaps you can afford to offer discounts, but a high-cost, high-service business like us cannot. The 35% margin is barely sufficient to sustain this business. Proper high street retailers work on 50%+. Retailers are disappearing from our cities and towns like swotted flies, leaving most of them peopled by coffee shops, fast-food outlets, building societies, estate agents and charity shops. Margin is important to a retailer’s survival, and whilst no customer wants to pay more than he has to, at times you have to decide what’s most important to you. If you want the gear that is right for you and if you want it to fit properly, and if you want someone to spend as long as it takes to guide you to the correct solution, it seems to me that it is not unreasonable to expect you to pay a fair price.. Remember, we’re not talking about a premium here; we’re talking about the recommended prices. If you want cheap, there are plenty of places that do cheap. In fact, these bike clothing shops are in every town. You have to decide want you want, but it’s unrealistic to expect Motolegends’ level of service for Biker Bargain Warehouse’s prices. I can’t tell people where to shop, but I can exhort them to be realistic. We provide an unparalleled level of service. But it would be unrealistic to come and see us for the service if what you really want is a deal. Bear in mind we also have our Price-Beat guarantee that promises that we’ll beat any other retailer’s discounted price by 10%. Surely, nobody could expect more of a retailer than that? CP

    An effective sales pitch if I ever heard one ;) No, great job and I'm sure you'll save yourself some grief from a few visitors! Actually the oddest thing to me about your shop is that it's a rarity at all - why anybody wouldn't welcome quality service without a premium attached, I don't know. I have been to this shop and can say, everything said here is true. I was unaware of it before I arrived......from London, while on vacation from the US. That being said, my experience was amazing, arguably the best shopping experience I had on my entire trip. I went to Motolegends specifically to try on just two Belstaff jackets after reading how fitting them can be difficult. I did wait, but very shortly. I did have the coffee and cookies, they were great. My sales representative did point out the jacket I wanted was maybe not best for my type of riding (cruiser) or climate (SoCal). But, he accepted graciously that it was an item I have always wanted and helped me find the one that fit properly. I ended up with a coat I love, a turtle neck sweater, new gloves for my wife who was with me and a neck gaiter. The personal service and quality of all of their products is just amazing.

    "Buy cheap, buy twice" wise words, my gran always said that, so I have never bought cheap shoes or beds..! I did in the past try and save a few quid on bike gear, but 10 years ago I saw the light, Rukkas, Daytonas and halvarsson WP leathers (best thing I ever bought) and more recently Rokker jeans (they are so nice and comfortable to wear). Love the shop and the service there Chris. I just wish you were closer. Some Scott waterproofs next, but my mate has them and is same size as me, so will try his on and if ok and order the same size online.
    P.S. when I was on last and bought the Rokker Legend jeans you were a little concerned that the knee pads were a little low and offered to alter them, however after wearing them for a bit they have "ridden up" and are now perfect. Cheers.

    I think a better idea would be to get your customer to sit in the coffee area and fill in a questionnaire with all your details from sizes to what bike, where you live and just about every other bit of personal information. Then take their credit car and go on to the warehouse, fill a bag up of items you think they should have and take their money and wave as they drive off.

    I agree with Martin below this message is a bit off putting and I am a long term customer having spent many 1000s in this shop. Over the last few years it has become a very conveyer belt experience. When you arrive you are asked what you want? So it's good to have browsed online first and know exactly what you want. Then you are dashed in your item selected, you try it on it fits you and are rolled out. Before you get to the till whoever was serving you has vanished into the warehouse. The till is always a shocking experience because as the cap chap says you don't know the prices. Forget about looking at something that catches your eye. That's not allowed. I find the place a bit intimidating now, has changed a lot.

Which took 30mins to get to that conclusion although it could have taken 5mins from the off.

      Mission accomplished. We’ve potentially saved you making a wasted journey, although you probably didn’t pay proper attention to what I said. I made it clear that we don’t tell people they can’t buy something. I did point out that, in extremis, we will say something if somebody is looking at buying something that is totally inappropriate, but what we bring to the table is a level of knowledge and expertise you won’t find elsewhere. And so provided you are prepared to have a dialogue and are not blinkered to an alternative approach, we can often help you make better choices and avoid making expensive mistakes. CP

    I have a quick question (that I think I already know the answer too), I assume you are equally okay with someone maybe leaving having bought nothing?
    The reason I ask is that I am a completely new rider (so far as I do not have my license yet, but have riden bikes in other countries) and what I am after is some solid gear advice, with honestly no idea of what I need, so how much what I want would cost, so no idea of an honest budget.
    I have already been sold a helmet elsewhere, (shoei glamster) that I feel may have been a bad decision. But due to covid, I needed my own helmet before I can even take my CBT let alone full license. I really liked the helmet, which seemed enough for the shop to sell it to me. Which having subsequently seen your videos, may not have been smart. They did measure my head, but that’s as far as a fitting went.
    And so what I really would like is someone to talk me through gear (maybe look at my helmet and my head), taking in to account my wants, the style, and needs, the kind of riding. But like I say, given those things, I have no idea what a realistic budget is. I am far far far from “money is no option”, but equally I do want to get it right. So I would rather get the advice, save the money, buy the gear… than waste the money, just because it was cheaper and looked good. Like you say, buy right, buy once.
    If so, your shop sounds about as perfect a day trip I could make for my needs.
    Thanks for the videos, amazing channel… wish maybe I’d found it a little sooner :)

      No problem for us. We deal with lots of new riders and people who haven’t passed their test yet. When you’re ready and are serious about getting some gear, come and see us. When you get here, make sure you tell us your story; tell us honestly what you’ve got, what you need and so on. Bring your Glamster helmet with you. We may be able to do a custom fitting on it if it’s not too far off being right. CC

    I'm a little confused, at the end of most of your videos you incurage us to pop in and see you at motolegends and you often hold sale days, in fact you are having a sale today??
    So discounts can be had and you want us to come on down

    • @Motolegends
      @Motolegends  2 года назад

      Actually, it’s not that confusing. We hold one-day-only, online-only Sales, uniquely on a Sunday. We are not open on a Sunday, and if you had read the bulletin properly you would not have been so perplexed. These Sales end on Sunday night, and you will never access those prices again; in store or online. Not sure also that I agree with your assertion that we encourage people to ‘pop in’. We do talk about our shop at the end of our videos, but there’s no suggestion that we want people to casually pop in. Our messages are pretty consistent. Come and see us if you are serious about acquiring gear and if you want serious advice. But don’t come here expecting to do deals or access discounted prices, because you’re going to be disappointed.

      @@Motolegends thank you for responding.
      But I'm not any clearer. At motolegends you don't do discounts unless you take into account the many online sales you do usually when the shop is closed. Sounds like a discount to me on a regular basis. And you discourage casually dropping into the shop unless you are a serious buyer. Do I have that right or am I not reading your response properly either?
      I'm not trying to be difficult I just want to be clear on what it is you are saying as I was/am confused
