Why can't all the motor industry be like you and Matt, honest and with complete integrity. I have been watching your channel since you restarted it and your professionalism and enthusiasm is clear to see. Your channel deserves to be really successful like Matt's. Best of luck and if I ever buy another MB I will definitely have it serviced and repaired at your garage as I don't live too far away. I like "while you're in there" and it makes complete sense to do those jobs.
When you decide to be a "specialist" you generally know your product, take pride and have standards in what your're doing, rather than the All makes type have-a-go garages.
Thanks to Matt for the link. You do realise you've added about 2 weeks to the 40 day booking wait for these chaps to look at my W211 E240! Seriously congrats on the new subs. Shows class, honesty and real knowledge wins through in the end.

I would drive my Merc from south of London to Stockport to have my car looked at by you guys ,Nice to watch a proper skilful job being done, Such a rarity
Interesting video, thanks. We have had 3 ML's one Y reg 270d, that we took to Spain and back in 2016- paid 1600 for it and sold it for 1950! one Petrol ML 320 with an Lpg conversion that failed on the Peripherique and started leaking LPG which had to be shut off and the system vented at a remote spot on the autoroute ( the scariest experience of my life, the Gendarmes were aware and kept a safe distance whilst smoking their Gauloises! ). After that road trip, spending nearly £2K on petrol it was sold ! Then in 2022 our hated Evoque threw its steering rack and left us in need of something able to deal with northumberland winters and a trip to Heathrow 4 up with 12 bags! Another Ml 270 and a leaky fuel system, But over the 6 months we owned it, it went to london twice fully loaded, dozens of trips to the Potato merchant in Gateshed and even towing a 3.5 Tonne Generator 500 miiles. We buy any car gave us £1200 for it in 2023 and I would have another one tomorrow! (not a petrol though LOL) Over the years we have had 3 ML's, 1 GWagon-how naive were we to sell that in 1990!, 1 E220D Avantegarde, 2 V220's, 1 LHD spanish 190D and 1 190 E Cosworth! yes we had a cosworth Mercedes!
ML’s are vastly underrated My 1999 SL320 R129 is the straight six. Owned her since 2010 with 48k now on 60k They’re great with TLC and a pocket full of money
Good doco. You must be a really dedicated mechanic the job could really be off putting. Again the right tools is a must. And i would hate to see the bill if a mercedes dealership did the work. Very good docco, most interesting watching the surgery take place. Cheers, Rickie
I have owned 4 of these ML's over the years. Drive a '03 as my daily. Love them. Sturdy as bricks, comfortable, and great in snow. (I live in Arizona and yes we have lots of snow in the mountains) Thanks for the video.
Matt has got a good one there I'd have jumped on it. Love old lux cars. Unfortunately my local merc specislist doesn't do you tube so you'll do. My cheap 07 clk was was bought for the colour.
I’m just thrilled that you’ve cleaned the airbox. It might sound silly but it’s what everyone would do if it were his/her own car but not many workshops do. 👌 4:35 More of those nice little details that only come with experience and will make a difference later on. 5:21 “we’re gonna torque them in at 28Nm”. Is that a reduced number because you’ve put anti-cease on them?
Nice to see a young person still interested and working in a normal garage, good on him, even though they are Mercedes Benz. Matt was right to promote your channel, great video.

Nice to see w163. Now they are cheap and beaten as workhorses, but they have future (especially ML500 in decent condition). I have 1997-12 w163 (ML320) green with beige interior and went all trough these steps and MUCH more servicing it since mine mileage is 290k km. Since it is old actually everything I touch (from brakes, engine to folding mirrors, or wipers mechanisms or interior parts) needs some care and repairs, but I love this, it is rewarding despite "to do" list never ends. w163 is actually simple (bit sadly) compared to gold age legends like w126, w124. So it is easy for DIY. Downside is that it is more plastic model and this creates some issues. Nice that you wont forget fuel filter. I also went trough this and this wasn`t pleasure - original was available for ~280 Eur. It is expensive since it is specifically only petrol w163 part - pressure regulator + fuel filter came as one laser welded stainless steel unit. Purchased replacement from Poland for ~80 Eur. Most likely china made but there is no other smart choice.

Mate loved the video but I just need to take a moment to mourn my decision to buy a e53 X5 v8 instead of one of these. Despite being well aware of the stark difference in reliability and general fit and finish it was the styling of the ML that I could not get around. The e53 is a beautiful curse that has given me nothing but problems DESPITE the previous mechanic owner having spent countless hours under the hood himself. Currently trying to sell it before ANOTHER thing goes out. It will be an expensive 2 years and 6,000 odd miles that's for sure. A nice experience and lesson learned nonetheless.
