As I've said before Kris, I do like your no nonsense approach. Get it done, looks great and does the job. Tendinitis sucks. I got it 2 years ago in my right arm when building the model steam engine by hand. Only cure is total rest i.e. in a cast but we can't manage without our right arm eh!!
I like that chain Mortiser. I was a contractor and in forty years of work I only did one timber frame. This is the first time I have actually seen a mortiser work.
Thanks for cranking out these videos. 22 minutes isn't quite long, at least not for me. I personally prefer videos like this around 45 minutes. Of course it all depends on your camera capacity, etc. But long story short, don't hold back on the footage if you don't have to. We love this.
nice video kris, love your channel i tell every one of my youtube subcriptions that has to do with off off grid life about ur channel, especailly about ur water tubine and solar set up.if i was a younger man id go out and offer set ups similiar to your electric rig to the public, for free education advice in kentucky to my old neighbors and friends their ,just to show them an alternative to high energy bills ,i really wish they new how easy it could be,thanks to pioneers like you
Richard Smith yeah except kris just jumps in and shows how easy it is to learn.... as opposed to flying a few thousand miles and spending thousands of dollars to take a timber frame jointing class lol
So that's where you did business all along, I was wondering about that like so many others. I can't wait to see what the new, better one will look like.
Great video, as usual Kris. Tendonitis pain in the arse, well elbow actually. Suggest googling the Bowen Technique or Emmett Technique and finding a practitioner near you, they have high success rates with this type of injury. My better half is a qualified practitioner in both and if we were only a little bit closer she would fix you up.
Chain mortiser, great tool! I suffer from tendonitis in the elbow too, it seems like something that just never goes away. I found some massage techniques that help temporarily but aside from ibuprofen or not doing any sort of work there doesn't seem to be a great way of treating it.
Great stuff bud. Doing some reading on timber framing I found that the pegs are called treenails and some people off set the inner hole by 1/4” 6mm or so which pulls the timber together tighter
is that Wynne Evans i hear on the radio in the background i love his show and listen to him every morning in my workshop there's nothing better than a bit of Wynne when when making wood chips another great video please keep them coming :D
Nevermind apologizing about the wind, mate. Great to see you bring this plot to life! edit: what about some vertical turbines to take advantage of the wind?
Great vid as usual, what timber are you using for frame and did you mill it yourself. P.s that new toy will be a godsend, keep up the good work lad, truly inspirational,if you put your mind to something it can be done
That is a beast of a chisel, and to whom ever said (kris)"you don't know what you're doing", you sir are a joke, for a self taught man, Kris is fairly professional.
The negative responses are from people who lead very shallow and miserable lives, and feel the need to take their anger out on people who do good by others. Kris' work is exemplary, and I am a timber framer. Kris' ability to take on a challenge of any kind is done with a lot of thought and turns out great. To those people who poo-pooh his work, well...take your negativity elsewhere. If you have nothing good to say, don't say it at all.
Some general building terminology: a column is a vertical member (a post in timber framing); a beam is a horizontal member; and a girder is a big beam that supports smaller beams. :-)
Beautious! Of course, I've come to expect that of you. Grats to you and the new lady! If it's Hannah, double grats!!! Great choice, for BOTH of you! And I'm glad you took the time to be sure. :) How is the veggie oil in the van, working out?
i bet that is the happiest dog alive... spending all day outside in nature with his owner!
Nice work, Kris. Your easy style is a joy to watch in our hyped-up clickbait maniac world. May you have peace and the best outhouse on the planet.
Hi Kris, nice job as always. I found that saw dust, mixed with Elmer's Glue, makes a nice wood putty for filling in those tear out spaces.
I'm a lefty.
When you were doing the tenons there was a proper Crocodile Dundee moment of “ NO.. THIS is a chisel !!! “ 🤣
👍🏴

"I just make it up as I go along" 😂😂 kris your a man after my own heart👍 well done young man !

Nice work for the ladys comfort. Cheers
when I saw this I instantly thought of Pure Living for Life channel once again thanks for the upload Kris.
Richard Smith yeah except kris just jumps in and shows how easy it is to learn.... as opposed to flying a few thousand miles and spending thousands of dollars to take a timber frame jointing class lol
Enjoyed it! Really like that you dont time laps your work, and show it how its going in real time. Looking forward to your next video.
I work with wood also....it never gets old. Great work
Thanks for spending your time to make this vid. AND NEVER FEED THE TROLLS.
So that's where you did business all along, I was wondering about that like so many others.
I can't wait to see what the new, better one will look like.
I am amazed that people actually dislike this? What`s there to dislike? Another video is always interesting and a good watch.
nice building. I really enjoy watching your videos. thanks for posting.
Nice Job Kriss. Chain mortiser looks a beast. Excellent videos keep them coming.
Been following you for a long time man and you are a huge inspiration to me.
Great stuff! :)
The mortise machine rocks. .save your elbow. Nice work.
Always enjoy your new projects Kris!
It is quite alright that the videos gain length. I enjoy watching you do your thing. It is SO inspiring.
Nicely done Kris.
All good stuff. Useful looking machine, Kris.
Happy days Kris...👍🇦🇺🕊
Well that sure makes it easier and faster. Can't wait for the next video!! Good job!
Excellent! That’s going to be one sharp outhouse! Blessings...
Chain mortiser, great tool!
I suffer from tendonitis in the elbow too, it seems like something that just never goes away. I found some massage techniques that help temporarily but aside from ibuprofen or not doing any sort of work there doesn't seem to be a great way of treating it.
I truly do enjoy your videos I learn something every time makes me wish I was a young man I would've done things defrent!
Kris does the chain mortise have a way to angle the blade? I have seen some where the head will pivot to an angle.
Nice work! You make it look so simple.
Great work Kris. Could you do a video on how to sharpen your chisels?
Great built. Thanks for sharing.
like the way it slots together, looks good and strong....
That's gonna make for one good looking loo for the lady friend!
Great stuff bud. Doing some reading on timber framing I found that the pegs are called treenails and some people off set the inner hole by 1/4” 6mm or so which pulls the timber together tighter

another great video please keep them coming :D
Kris. A cross member = collar tie for a rafter. For a cross member between two posts = tie beam. Hope this helps? Cheers!
How has this worked out over time?
Congrats on the lady, also thanks for the videos! What is the situation with the turbine that broke down, did you get a response from the company?
Hi,
Your talented, really...
Just a question: what kind of wood is it?
Thanks and regards
As ever another great video, cheers Kris.
Nice, love the timber frame vids
New lady ? Don't come knocking when the round house is a rockin!! 😀
I love your work Kris, do you off set your dowel holes so that it makes the joint tighter?
great video Kris!
keep'em coming
I don’t know what your building background is but you build some really cool shit !!! Love all your videos
Cheers from USA
Where & How much was the MAKITA CHAIN MORTISER
Nevermind apologizing about the wind, mate. Great to see you bring this plot to life!
edit: what about some vertical turbines to take advantage of the wind?
Great work kris
Very cool new toy.
Another great video Kris, well done

Great video again 👍
Woohoo! More woodwork and joinery :)
I think an update video on your turf roof growth and settling in progress would be interesting.
Why not angle the clamp ..so you could remove most of the angled side of the mortice ?
Yeehaaah, Happy everything to you both. X
Would it be worth it to cut the first side of the mortise and then flip it 180 to do the other side, so that both edges are clean?
Congratulations on your new found love, I am so happy for you. Great work, this is a good video.
Thats a fair bit safer than sticking a chainsaw into a piece of wood! Nice machine, I had never heard of them before.
What was the price for the mortiser mate? My searches have only bought kit up that starts at £500 which is more than I thought?
Nice work.
3:54 There is a big grey and brown mouse just right behind you.. :)
You make it look so easy..
I'm sure it's been asked before, how many acres do you have there?
That is going to be a fancy outhouse.
Are you going to do the walls the same way you did the turbine house?
Great Job very informative
you're really good at building shit
Where's part 2 Kris?
Could we get an update and statistics on your hydro system?
Wont 2 people generate twice as much waste and need double the capacity; or to change sides every 6 months rather than 12?
Ey Kris? Who's the dog?
Cool tool, never knew they existed.
I hope she appreciates your hard work on the new Pooh palace.
You should collect the methane and use it for cooking as an alternative to the fire it would be so cool
It's just like building with legos
Falling for tenons and mortises, aren't you? :-) Nice job! How is the MacDo car doing on its new diet?
Thanks great video

Very nice!
looking good
never too long.
Yay Hannah! 💖 Also, did I hear a dog bark???
Nope, not me!
Nothing says I love you more than building her a nice shitter 😅
👍🏴
So?... you got in a different relationship? Not wanting to get too private but when did this happen?
Lol I'm super curious as well
Very good
The Hobbit, an unexpected crapper
Beautious! Of course, I've come to expect that of you. Grats to you and the new lady! If it's Hannah, double grats!!! Great choice, for BOTH of you! And I'm glad you took the time to be sure. :) How is the veggie oil in the van, working out?
His new lady is super lovely and he's very happy :) It's not me though ;)

43 Shades TMI *grin 😉
Hurry up I have to go pottie :P

👍👌
Get your Dr to put a cortisone injection in your elbow, it's really good and lasts a long time, years
Damn why can't I be first?
1 year? I'd fill that in a week. Thank God for flush toilets
Too bad she didn't volunteer to build the toilet............not gonna happen!
