How to grow spring bulbs in containers

- Here I’m telling you about how to grow spring bulbs - tulips and daffodils - in pots and other containers. This is amazing for small gardens, terraces and urban gardens. Such an easy way to get a great spring garden.
My name is Claus Dalby, and I live in Risskov on the outskirts of Aarhus in Denmark. To date, I have written about 30 books on flowers and gardens in Danish, and my garden has been featured on many TV shows. In March 2022 my first book in English will be available. I consider my home (built in1908), and its garden with its neighboring wood, as my sanctuary. When I started gardening in 1996, there was just a large lawn covering approximately 1 acre (4,000 square meters), but today the grass is long gone - replaced by 15 hedged rooms with varying colors and moods. Additionally, one of my great passions is growing in pots, arranged to create spectacular container gardens, which I will share quite a bit about on this channel. Decor and creating moods have always interested me - both outside and inside - and I love to use the flowers from my garden for bouquets and to inspire other crafts that create a sense of hygge.

Could you talk a little on the soil you use? Tips to prevent rot? How deep should the pot be to keep the bulbs happy, etc? Do you leave daffodils in the pots all year, or remove and store?

I planted 400 tulip bulbs in my garden in Sydney Australia. I treat them as a annuals and buy new tulip bulbs again next year. I taken down notes from this video , thank you for sharing information on growing tulips.(I have a garden diary which I record everything I do and write new information so I can read back next year to improve my garden and not repeat some mistakes ). So beautiful your tulip garden. You have inspired me to do more tulips in containers instead of the landscape🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷 .

I have always loved pink and white also! I am especially fond of white and chartrues which you seem to enjoy too. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge of gardening! I tried bulbs in pots for the first time this year and I'm pretty sure they rotted since I live in a temperate rainforest. Wish I had seen your video about covering them before this spring. I will try again next year.
Better luck next time - the bulbs will rot if exposed to too much standing water.

I have heard a lot of people saying their tulips was short this year. This was my 1st time planting them and I wasn't happy at all. They was short and didn't bloom for that long. Zone 8 Mississippi.

I tried with only 2 pots, just to see if I can have success with container bulb planting, and I must say, it's a success so far. Although, I can't understand why my tulips are growing earlier than my daffs. Those pink forget me not, I love it. Love all your displays as usual.

I love the arrangement of pots and the colour schemes. I think the white multi-headed narcissus is 'Thalia' as 'Hawera' is even smaller and is a lemony yellow. I have it in flower at the moment here in New Zealand.
I don’t know why but it has never occurred to me to plant bulbs in pots. Possibly because it’s not done where I live in western Canada where Spring can be an especially challenging season (we had a snow storm just a week ago). I love that you take the time to talk about garden composition and how colour and shape enhance everything. You create an almost tropical lushness with tulips, again something I have never associated as a possibility with bulb flowers in general. My imagination is starting to explode with ideas!
