- Here I'm showing how my window boxes look this year. I'm using white, silver/grey and yellow/chartreuse. The flowers is petunias and then I'm using different foliage plants:

My name is Claus Dalby, and I live in Risskov on the outskirts of Aarhus in Denmark. To date, I have written about 30 books on flowers and gardens in Danish, and my garden has been featured on many TV shows. In March 2022 my first book in English will be available. I consider my home (built in1908), and its garden with its neighboring wood, as my sanctuary. When I started gardening in 1996, there was just a large lawn covering approximately 1 acre (4,000 square meters), but today the grass is long gone - replaced by 15 hedged rooms with varying colors and moods. Additionally, one of my great passions is growing in pots, arranged to create spectacular container gardens, which I will share quite a bit about on this channel. Decor and creating moods have always interested me - both outside and inside - and I love to use the flowers from my garden for bouquets and to inspire other crafts that create a sense of hygge.

Maybe it's just me but I liked the way he had the original window box....
I like them both. I’d bet that he did too. It’s about growth, creativity, flow and presence.
No, it´s not "just you". I also thought it was the very best choice.
Flowers go through a growth cycle. They don’t stay in the perfect bloom state for too long. Change is necessary. You could go with artificial flowers if you don’t like change. Still artificial flowers will bleach from the sun eventually and you will have to change them.
Your "throw aways" are better than my plants here in London. SIGH!

I love the fact that you often come up with unique combinations that others wouldn't have thought of. Both boxes came out great. In the first box I noticed how the throat of the petunia had same color as the yellow grass. You sure know your stuff 👏👏👏

I love the chartreuse and grey! Maybe you can donate the flowers you removed to a senior home or nursery school? I'm sure they have residents or teachers who would love to plant them with their students. I know I would love to with my early learners!

It's very interesting the way the chartreuse grass matches the center throat color of the supertunia and the white and silver has the cool color juxtaposition to the warmer gold color! Great unexpected combo, I'm looking forward to a video showing the window box as it matures💚

Hakonechloa macra 'All Gold' is a new plant for me. I discovered it last year and this year I have moved it into a blue pot and I love the contrast of colours. Alone in a pot it waves in the wind :)

I love the colors you've chosen for your window boxes. Never would think about putting those colors in my boxes but they just look so elegant. The grasses the first one really brought a wonderful brightness to the already lovely white and grey that I didn't expect! Thank you for helping us think about new plant combinations to use together - we learn so much because you teach us by discussing your choices based on texture, growing patterns as well as color. Would love to see something on SHADE window boxes too if you have ideas!
