On my first trip to Thailand in 2001, I noticed all the cheap Goods that they sold, and I ended up importing those every year and selling them at summer festivals. I even found a manufacturer to make some items specifically for me to sell. I did this for 10 years

Once upon a time, a guy from Austria came to Thailand, tasted red bull, and thought: "If i sell this sugar water in Europe, i can make billions of it." I still don't get it.

I’m an Ex Engineer and am 51 years old, I have just sold everything I own including my house of 18 years. I’m about to move over to Thailand in the next couple of months with the view of starting some form of online business and look forward to exploring Nomad school and seeing what I can do with it, so it’s not just entirely young guys who are developing this kind of mindset

Yeah! I first went abroad at 29 & it worked out a lot better than if I’d left at 21 when I first thought about it. Still abroad now a decade later & happy about it despite family not liking it 😅

The Nike story is WILD. I used the Magnates Media video about him in my AP English classroom in China. His story gave me the courage to leave that classroom and move into a work from home job even as my family was so confused 😂. I’ll read the book for sure-thanks for the recommendation.
I also agree STRONGLY with your words about how flexible you are in your 20’s! I am now at the age where I like nicer things but am happy that I made the time to travel in my 20’s.

Spot on mate, amazing the number of creativity and young people (20-30) creating startups and chasing dream ideas here in Thailand.
Be it creating apps, digital agencies, affiliate sites and various platform etc.
It’s no guarantee you will be successful but connect with the right group here’s and everyone wants each other to succeed and will genuinely offer what ever they can to help out.
Even in the few months I’ve been in Chiang Mai it’s incredible seeing how many youth have developed their ideas and themselves to become successful.
Life is affordable here and you can take risks like take 3 months off here that won’t send you broke.

Fortune favours the bold. The big advantage when you are in your twenties is that you can take risks, fall flat on your face but (usually 😆) bounce back. It gets progressively more difficult as you get older particularly once you have a family. I suppose the alternative is earn really good money asap after school/uni in IT/finance etc, save and invest and then chill out in your 30s/40s/50s when you have become financially independent. Or like me just wing it and see how it turns out 😎.

It’s pronounced Ni-kee :) never heard anyone pronounce it that way before. I live in Oregon and actually met Phil Night years ago at the University of Oregon. He lives here in Portland area.

Making the switch from translator to copywriter is very hard though.
I reached the top in the translation industry, but now, it feels rough to start from scratch, and I don't find entry level jobs.
As you said, I don't care that much about the money, despite being in my... early 40s. (Well, I saved enough to start a new life anywhere if I want to)
But I just need now to find people who will accept to give basic copywriting tasks to a guy with almost no experience.
