See this is a good example, no need for blazing fast licks and plenty of space, even with fast tracks... LESS IS MORE : the modern blues guys can learn something
Abert Collins was one of the great genius' of the blues; his angular, at times dissonant and strikingly original choice of notes was unique as well as his driving head-spitting tone.
Stephen Pennell Before I would pass almost every musician I ever "more than like" will already be there, so I asume - I'll arive just in time for "the great gig in the sky" That thought keeps me smilin a little, instead of sheding a tear when I listen to my music.
@kidsgottheblues BB & Albert (and others) released an album called Blues Summit in '93, and this song (studio version) was on it. That was also the year AC passed.....
You can tell miles away the exact sound of Collins, BB or SRV. They all got their favorite little licks and pops. Especially Collins with that dangerously neck-high capo. Mercy sakes those callouses must’ve been like concrete pads.
"Picks up jaw from floor & proceeds to smash guitar to splinters!" You can really hear how much influence Albert's tone & that staccato phrasing had on SRV....A joyful noise indeed from 2 legends now silent here but most likely BB has a killer blues club up there somewhere in paradise.
Every Single note, bar, chord, and solo SRV played was an exact replica of Albert KING. Right down to the pedals he used and the way he set up his guitar. King was a kind and gracious guy, and in the August of his life, he appreciated the attention SRV brought to him, and it was decent of SRV to bring Albert King into the homes of white audiences who would have never listened to his music. Especially since copying King was *literally* the *only* reason SRV became famous.
no words.......... mr collins...and mr king........no words.......this is music......... im 37 years old.....today music is garbage........todays generation.......dont know what music is........
It's awesome, in later years AC seems to move into some rock n roll fusion with his blues that just boggles the mind! When I saw him a few times in the Eighties it was Electric Blues and some jazz; watching here towards the end of his days he has a kind of madness that is the Grace of The Guitar Gods. Epic! That's what they mean down South about a player having been to the crossroad at midnight.

You know why u can barely here Albert it's cause he plays so loud it doesn't register when your recording a live show like that if it's too loud it goes over the register and the guy on the board has too turn it down cause it's so loud lol
See this is a good example, no need for blazing fast licks and plenty of space, even with fast tracks... LESS IS MORE : the modern blues guys can learn something
