Roosevelt Avenue is main thoroughfares in the New York City boroughs of Queens. Roosevelt Avenue begins at 48th Street and Queens Boulevard in the neighborhood of Sunnyside. Roosevelt Avenue goes through Woodside, Jackson Heights, Elmhurst, Corona, Flushing Meadows-Corona Park (adjacent to Citi Field) and Flushing. In Flushing, Roosevelt Avenue ends at 156th Street and Northern Boulevard. Roosevelt Avenue is well known for its diversity of cultural representation, ranging from Indian to Latin American, while in the 2020s, Downtown Flushing is undergoing rapid gentrification by Chinese transnational entities. More than three hundred languages are spoken along the street, and the neighborhoods it passes through are described as the most ethnically diverse in the world. [Source: Wikipedia]

I used to visit my grandmother and her sister as a kid in the summers. It was the early, mid 70's. Exact area. I remember walking around with them, shopping the street markets, eating at various pizza places, riding around with my brother on my Schwinn bike, banana seat and all. Summer of Sam, we weren't out after nightfall until after he was caught. I saw a few celebrities too. Disco Era, there were the nightclubs blasting disco music, Italians with their polyester suits, and gold chains, dress shoes, in the middle of the day, just like a scene out of Saturday night fever. So many memories. Grateful I got to see it during that Era.

Parts of it look like the infamous Recto avenue area in Manila. Insane! Real life beats media depictions any day of the week. I wish most people in most medium-developed economies countries like here (the Philippines), India, China and Mexico see this vid so they finally realise life is literally the same everywhere and developed places are only developed for the privileged. "The grass is always greener"until you get there. high wages almost always means high bills and higher rent.

Can't use a run down street in NYC as a representation of the US. You will never find a place like this in a nicer and safer state such as Utah or Idaho. The US is massive.

Ehh, only this part of Queens. If you keep walking with the street numbers going up, Roosevelt Avenue eventually becomes like Little Korea. If you keep walking with the street numbers going down, Roosevelt Avenue becomes more like Little Pakistan/India/Bangladesh.

This video only covers the Jackson Heights section of 77th Street - 93rd Street along Roosevelt Avenue, which is heavily Latino (Colombian, Mexican). To the west, the 74th Street area of Jackson Heights is known as Little India, and further west, Sunnyside/Woodside was historically 80% Irish but is now 30% white, 30% Asian, 30% Hispanic. To the east, North Corona is primarily residential and Latino. Further east is Shea Stadium (New York Mets) and the Arthur Ashe Stadium (U.S. Open). On the other side of Shea Stadium/Arthur Ashe Stadium is a large Chinatown in Flushing centered around Main Street (~139th Street) and Roosevelt Avenue. Roosevelt Avenue ends in Murray Hill where it meets Northern Blvd at 156th Street. Murray Hill has a high concentration of Korean restaurants and there are Korean stores along Northern Blvd extending further eastward to Auburndale, Bayside, and Douglaston neighborhoods.

I grew up on Warren St off Junction Blvd and Roosevelt ave in Elmhurst in the 1960s. Your video brought back
many fond memories of this neighborhood. The area was very different in those days. The streets did not have
all the food and merchandise on the side walks that it has now. I think the cost of living has become so expensive
that these people are just trying to survive. Our old house that we sold in Elmhurst for less than 30,000 is now
    selling for over 1,000,000.

I use to make weekend trips back to the city and sometimes Queens because all my friends were there. I now like in Atlanta because the cost of living is so damn expensive in NE. I was born and raised in Elmhurst Queens. When I visit today, I feel saddened and disgusted how it has been made filthy with all these illegal vendors , gang cartel and prostitution. It used to be a neighborhood where families was raised, everyone went to church, summer nights were block parties and everyone could walk safely to school with friends and family. It wasn’t congested and densely populated. From Junction Blvd to Woodside you could Shop in High End Boutiques and find High end jewelry on 82st. All of these girls worked on 40th Rd in flushing and most of their customers were Mexicans from Corona. Nypd shut down around half of 40th Rd operations while the other half went down due to construction. In response, the girls went right to their customers' neighborhood to get that money even faster. At least that's the story my friend told me.

I like how messy, yet quaint this area of NYC is.
