The biggest shock for me is how blatant it is. Aurora has always had a prostitution problem, but most of the women 20+ years ago you would never guess were prostitutes. I lived in Seattle in the mid seventies and it was nothing like this. I am truly shocked. I remember when Heart was a bar band at the Aquarius Tavern on Aurora and the Aquarius Tavern was next door to a strip club.

I’m Polish and recently I watched a lot of videos like this & interviews with people living in streets in US. For me there are three things I cannot comprehend: 1. If prostitution is illegal then why those girls are standing there without any police intervention? 2. If drugs are illegal why people selling those are not bothered by police whatsoever? 3. And last - why there are so many people in US that are doing prostitution and drugs without feeling remorse at all. What happened to their conscience? For me this is a picture of social collapse. Well, the first city that comes to my mind would be Frankfurt am Main in Germany, things like this are normal there. Prostitution might be legal in Germany but you will also see a lot of drug use and drug trafficking without a lot of police intervention. Görlitzer Park in Berlin is also one of this places where cops don’t really stop drug trafficking. You won’t see so many whores on the streets in europe especially at daytime but prostitution is still a big thing. Most of it is hidden from the publics eye in whore-houses. It is even known that Berlin in the 90s had a particular street for child prostitution… I guess the world isn’t as beautiful for everyone, we should be thankfull that we only see the dark side through our little screens. Just fyi , this is aurora Ave, a city outside of Seattle called shoreline. This is not Seattle, it's Shoreline Washington and this is about 4 or 5 blocks on the strip not the entire city.
Someone below wrote a comment that made me remember my forgotten history of Seattle. Original, Old Seattle in the mid-to-very-late 1800s reputedly harbored a large population of prostitutes. While prostitution was not legal per se in Washington State, the practice was effectively decriminalized in Old Seattle. Yeah, the Democrats financially ruin cities and decriminalize(no bail, $50 tickets) low-level crime. Obversely, Republicans run a tightfisted fiscal policy, and aggressive law enforcement. It most often starts off as a means to change the way they feel hoping for something better. They like the break from their reality at first and then the new reality grabs them and takes over every moment and thought they may have left. The ladies work the streets to survive and they become trapped in the cycle as each passing day their options become less and less until there are none left. Do the patrons take advantage of them? I’m Polish and recently I watched a lot of videos like this & interviews with people living in streets in US. For me there are three things I cannot comprehend:
1. If prostitution is illegal then why those girls are standing there without any police intervention?
2. If drugs are illegal why people selling those are not bothered by police whatsoever?
3. And last - why there are so many people in US that are doing prostitution and drugs without feeling remorse at all. What happened to their conscience?

Well, the first city that comes to my mind would be Frankfurt am Main in Germany, things like this are normal there.
Prostitution might be legal in Germany but you will also see a lot of drug use and drug trafficking without a lot of police intervention.
Görlitzer Park in Berlin is also one of this places where cops don’t really stop drug trafficking.
You won’t see so many whores on the streets in europe especially at daytime but prostitution is still a big thing. Most of it is hidden from the publics eye in whore-houses.

In Europe, the developed countries have already figured it out for hundreds of years it's also a "profession", you can't stop it, so today in many areas in europe it works like a normal industry and love houses operate elegantly under medical supervision with security. Nowaday it is much easier to designate an area for it and let it operate with regulation in elegant houses.

Ну на улицах относительно чисто. Видно что убирают. Собственно как у нас. Кроме бродячих проституток и каких то утырков. Почему то нормальных людей на видео практически нет. Там перемещаются исключительно на автомобилях? Еще мазни на стенах у нас поменьше.

Just fyi , this is aurora Ave, a city outside of Seattle called shoreline. This is not Seattle, it's Shoreline Washington and this is about 4 or 5 blocks on the strip not the entire city.
Come on, this is not an entire Seattle and you can find such kind of block in every corner of the world.
Someone below wrote a comment that made me remember my forgotten history of Seattle. Original, Old Seattle in the mid-to-very-late 1800s reputedly harbored a large population of prostitutes. While prostitution was not legal per se in Washington State, the practice was effectively decriminalized in Old Seattle. Bordellos were commonplace so customers didn't have to pick up women and take them somewhere. Seattle in the late 1800s was still something of a western boom town with the rough edges but it was quickly turning into a major West Coast metropolis.
Much of modern Seattle is built on top of the old, 19th Century Seattle after the great downtown fire around 1882. Building new Seattle on the literal, second floor allowed sewage drainage to flow consistently to the bay and out to the ocean. Before the city toilets would plug up when the bay tides changed.
The Underground Seattle Tour is still in business. You can enter the gloomy, dark underbelly of Old Seattle, glimpsing down darkened city streets and peering at the facades of long-gone street front stores and other businesses. Yeah, it's spooky.
