  • @leighandrews8863
    @leighandrews8863 Год назад +3

    So many things wrong in this review its unbelievable. The CSL engine is based on the GT4 engine not the standard road car, the head is different and is 3D printed because of the complexity of the oil and water ways. The wheels, exhaust, and seats are bespoke to the CSL and can't be ordered for the standard M3/4. The £300 heritage badges, includes the wheels, bonnet and boot. The traction control has 10 settings, and 5 of these are pro settings not available in the standard car. I do agree the DCT would have been nice, but even that would need better gear changes as the M2 Comp I had the DCT had its issues.

    I have owned an E30 M3 Sport Evo and an E46 CSL and both were exciting to drive and very LIGHT. This new M4 CSL is too heavy to wear that CSL badge. Why didn't they bring out an M2 CSL?

  • @ertugrulbae46
    @ertugrulbae46 Год назад +1

    Yes the M3 CSL was comparable to the 911 GT3 at the time.
    But since then, Porsche gained about 50kg - 55kg of weight. While BMW gained about 240kg - a quarter of a tonne.
    Ofcourse it's no longer comparable. M3/M4 was forced to go down the autobahn blitzer road (no pun intended), as the competitors from Mercedes and Audi are in that straight line performance sector too.
    Hence why the M4 CSL has WAY more bhp than a 911 GT3 and even GT3 RS. its a tad under 600bhp on the dyno. Officially 543. While Porsche does 502bhp. With the RS doing 518bhp. To put into perspective..that's barely any more than previous gen C63 AMG. The 0-60 times reflect this too as the other Germans are around 3.3 - 3.5s. While porsche is around 3.9s. In other words it would kill the Porsche in a drag race as that's what it's supposed to do. Even supercars would have a run for their money as its older brother, the M5 is a literal super car killer.
    Porsche has the advantage on track. The current M4 CSL therefore isn't a downgrade. The M3 CSL was simply punching way above its weight as a family saloon car platform, competing with a sports car platform both on track and on the straight.
    But you can argue..for that reason, does it really deserve the "L" in CSL? No it doesn't. It should have been a "CS". The "L" was marketing tactics.

    I really do not understand auto journalists. Let me explain.
    I own a GT-R (4,000 lbs.) and a Mini Cooper (2,800). I have driven both during driving violent rainstorms with heavy crosswinds. Guess which car felt safer and more stable on the road? Guess which one felt safer when I was driving with lorries and other heavy trucks around me? Also I’ve driven a Lotus Elise and it was the most unsafe car I’ve ever driven. It felt slight and insubstantial especially at speed on the highway. So I don’t get how auto journalists are so laser focused on low weight when outside of a track, that makes no difference.
    For the everyday driver, weight is underrated. No they do not want 5,000 lbs. urban tanks but most drivers want a substantial car with a safe amount of weight for everyday driving. Oh and most drivers do not want Cup 2 tires that cannot grip in rain and must be replaced every 1,000 miles. Most drivers will never visit a racetrack and most owners of this new CSL will drive it on the weekends to show off on Rodeo Drive or keep it as a garage queen to flip and resell in 10-20 years.
    Oh and the appalling nostrils on this car are still horrifically ugly.

    Someone didn't do thier research for this video..... The C stands for competition not coupe!! So that would suggest Track first road second, which is straight from the press release .... They also neglected to mention it's pumping 70hp and 100NM more than the standard m4, and that he 100kg weight loss is compared to the m4 competition, not the standard m4. He also says M3 twice in his comparison comments, which is poor editting.
