Hey JT, you think you could do a video soon talking about what you did during an average 12 hour shift while on deployment? I'm not sure if you've covered that exclusively, but I'd like to hear what a day in the life during deployment was like from wake-up to sleep.

ATs in a detatchment get to help the ADs with installing engines, gearboxes. Help AMs with rotor blades, Etc. But when the AT stuff breaks, no one else is able to help you fix your shit (and would bet in your way if they try) so you are always the one who gets to stay behind in the hangar deck while everyone is down below watching the evening movie! If I had it to do again, I'd be an AT all over again!

I was an AE myself. Got schooled in NAS Jacksonville and Lemoore before doing my tour in Atsugi, Japan, and aboard the George Washington (CVN-73) aircraft carrier.
Years gone by after I got out, I started to miss the Navy. Now, I'm done with my undergrad and am looking towards applying for OCS.

A ton of people don't know about the hidden ATI NEC Calibration Technician. I was looking at this video before I joined the Navy and then I picked up this job and had no initial idea of what this NEC was. Our job is to calibrate, adjust and troubleshoot over 11,000 assets when onboard a carrier. We work in AIMD with the other I level guys, however we're also going all around the ship working on pressure/temperature gauges/switches, the JETI Test cell, as well as work in reactor spaces. By far the best job in the Navy!! Great outside opportunities as well!

I have a very good friend who was an AT1 still are friend, played a significant role in my life while I was a junior sailor. Hung out a lot in his shop, very laid back, but Air Navy is gotta be our pride and joy throughout the Navy.....so many communities that make the Navy such a great service to the USA.......
Nice rundown. I was a AT and AE, getting out as a AE2. Worked and had NEC's for both I and O level.

Hey great info man. I was with 47 back in SD and got out after the 08 cruise. Only did 5 years but they got 3 deployments out of me. Made AT2 in decent time so it wasn't all bad, except you know, working on Bravos (your CPOs might even remember the Block-Zero lol)

Hey Kelly went to MEPS at the end of February of 2017 ship out date was originally May 3 now its April 13th so it went from 2 month to 1 month in DEP
How did you like your IT job?
There was this one guy in my class in AE A school who was an E-5 in the Army but wasn't able to keep his rank when he came over. He came into the Navy and took a pay cut to E-3 but was meritoriously advanced to E-4. Still sucks for him that he wasn't able to keep his rank.

This is my favorite video by far! I'm an ATI AN right now, fucking tron, I feel the same way where I really don't fit into the average perception of an AT, I really wish I was and ATO, I hate being ships company and not even working on aircrafts.

@@quicksilver11-18 its pretty much random. I got AT o level. You dont find out what you got until you get your order towards the end of bootcamp. We got ours 2 days before we left but i think we were supposed to get them like a week before

In DEP right now. I have AV guaranteed right now but I'm hoping I get AT in A school. I'm also going to try and get aircrew. I was pretty excited when I was told my list of rates I qualified for was 7 pages long and there was a $10k bonus for AV.
Donnie Montoya you don’t get to choose unfortunately. At the end of bootcamp you’ll get your orders to pcola and it’ll say if you’re AE or AT. AT you’ll be either ATO or ATI
In the Marines, O-Level Avionics=AT+AV+AE.

AV splits into at (o) and (i) strand and then AE its not an actual rate, sorry for late ass reply
AV splits into AE and AT. I think during or after bootcamp you get assigned to either. And within the AE or AT you split into I and O

Thanks for making all the great vids. Classified as an AV and shipping out to boot in April. The rating card my recruiter showed me that you could be selected to fly and receive extra flight pay as an AV. How would someone do that? Do you have to do well in A school or is it just the luck of the draw/needs of the Navy? Thanks!

I’m trying to figure out what rates I would want if my choice wasn’t available atm I do my contract.
I just got back from MEPS a few days ago, and I didn't plan to sign to a job I didn't want but my recruiter told me I could pick one that seemed ok with a far out ship date and we could put in a request for a job change while in DEP and if I didn't want to go with that job I don't have to. I signed to be a GSM but I requested for HM or AG. My ship date is October 3, thoughts on this?

Depends what platform you go under but it’ll most likely be a secret clearance.

Tyler Kotula I worked a lot with them in sasebo japan! You guys are on Very small ships and it can be hell from what they've told me, but you guys actually do some pretty cool stuff out at sea and have the best names for your ships!
