Depending on the category, you will want to go to Jungle because Black Market is much faster and gives more than Vlad's Castle. I went Volcana in this TAS because it is generally more open, making teleporting through it easier. For the Tide Pool / Temple split though, Tide is basically always visited unless the category demands something in Temple. This is primarily because TIde's door is on floor 2 of Olmec's Lair, and Temple's door is on floor 3. A TAS could easily just teleport to the Temple door, but real time runs would have to bomb terrain to make the teleports down safe, which costs a lot of time and resources.
Down TPs have a range of 5-9 tiles of distance. Each layer of Olmec's Lair is 7 tiles thick, so teleporting through it has a 3/5 chance of death. 2 bombs can be used to make it a safe TP for real time runs. The TAS actually needs an 8 tile TP to bonk on the ceiling to stop upward momentum from the jump used to down TP at all, because you only have 3 midair TPs before landing again.
Dear Christ
I hate that I am only finding you now. Love Spelunky TAS
nice. Here, have an algorithm boost.
wow
I was expecting a wrong warp or something idk
This was scarier
Why is it that in every speedrun its always volcana (and tide pool)
I'm just gonna take a guess on this one and say it's faster

LOOOL
Hey man, how did you TP down in olmec? I figured since people use the 2 bomb strat it's probably impossible, is it only possible in TAS?
Great run!
