- SOLD! Congratulations and safe travels to the new owners.
Nordhavn 40 - Sea Trek is an ocean ready, full displacement trawler that can truly travel to almost any place you can imagine. The Nordhavn 40 design is the smallest passage maker built by PAE. A sistership completed a 26-week circumnavigation in 2001. The Nordhavn 40 platform is solid, stable, and capable - engineered to safely take you across the ocean or along the coast in an economical package that has no equal in this size and price range.

The 40 is the sixth design in the Nordhavn series. She was conceived to create an entry level vessel that an adventurous couple could use to explore with an “out of the box” range of 3,000 miles. Most of the people who buy a Nordhavn 40 are owner operators, whether new or seasoned they appreciate the generous interior accommodations (saloon and galley on the entry level, raised pilothouse and two staterooms with one head on the lower level) and seakindly ride through the water with home comforts and conveniences.
Sea Trek is a first generation (US built) Nordhavn 40 - hull 32 out of 44 produced in southern California by legendary cruising sailboat builder, Pacific Seacraft. When this California builder faltered at hull 44, PAE/Nordhavn shipped the tooling to the Nordhavn yard in China to continue production starting with hull 45 and differentiated the two versions in this series as Mark I US made, and Mark II China built.
The saloon is spacious because it is pushed out on both sides, no wasted space filled with rarely used walking side decks. Sea Trek was ordered with the optional fly bridge, which provides an excellent outdoor area above the pilothouse for taking command underway or relaxing when at rest.
Following in the footsteps of the older and larger siblings that preceded her, the Nordhavn 40 established a production hallmark that set the standard for all Nordhavn models to follow. Starting with highly polished tooling, she has a solid fiberglass hull layup with integrated swim platform. The deck layout took advantage of many preferred features including a recessed anchor well on the bow, built-in deck boxes on the foredeck and a Portuguese bridge. Outside and up some steps, takes you to the boat deck and flybridge. The dinghy is mounted aft (athwartships) and the mast supported boom is used to launch and retrieve the tender.
Nearly (70) Nordhavn 40s have been produced, approximately 44 in the US and 30 in China. The rising costs of materials and labor has pushed the new boat price for a well outfitted Nordhavn 40 into an uncomfortable territory. Fortunately, the quality construction and owner care supports a high residual value for brokerage (used) boats that have kept this model increasingly popular for nearly over two decades with no end in sight.

Wow, sweet vessel, nice and compact. This is for serious motor sailors who are more interested in proper coastal cruising and being on the water than having some floating palace with all the bells and whistles. I'd buy a 40 if I had the money.
Harbor Dog: The Nordhavn 40 is a very special and capable boat, thanks for your nice note.
You mean to tell me that you don't need a crew of 4-6 to move your boat from seasonal parking spot to seasonal parking spot and some to fly your helicopter out to your yacht? Pah! Commoners..
@@dennied7826 Dennie: You forgot to mention the film crew, caterers and patrol submarine //:0)
@@JeffMerrillYachts But you forgot about the support boat that for some reason has side by sides, jetskis and a helicopter landing pad!
I love how responsive you guys are, if I'm ever in the market for a real serious boat I know who I'll be in touch with :)
@@dennied7826 Thank you, we are serious, but we also like to have fun.
Gorgeous couple's cruiser with room for weekend guests. Didn't realize you could get this boat with fly bridge. It was a deal breaker for me on Nordhavens but no more!
Motorv8N: Wonderful model and yes, ideal for a couple who want to go anywhere and everywhere. Fly is an option on many of the smaller N's 40, 43, 46, 47, 50.
One day soon i'll start my journey.
Around world solo trip with one of these.
Then do it again.
And again.
Invent things to help humanity along the way.
Sincerely
Captain bob
Bob: Great and ambitious plan! Go for it!!

Maybe 43
I'll keep an eye out for sales vids.
Perfect! I wish it were still available.
Richard: Very happy new owner aboard. Sea Trek was a great listing - wonderful sellers, great buyer and an exceptional boat. There is always another good boat out there…
Something about the bimini on the fly bridge just screams early 2000s to me, rare to see a video of some of the smaller Nordhavns though! Love the oven and all of the refrigerator drawers and storage space, even for a 40 footer you could do some serious cruising on her.
Only practical cover for a N40 flybridge. Yes the boat is very well outfitted and wonderfully looked after.
Yes, these are for serious cruising. These 40’s are passage capable with a range of around 2500 nautical miles. Water tight rear salon door and the list goes on. Not cheap but when it gets nasty you’ll find comfort in that build quality. Would love one of these.
@@MovieMuscle Thank you, yes they are in a class by themselves and the smallest ocean crosser that Nordhavn builds. PAE says the range is 3,000 miles, it all depends on how slow you want to go.
since I'm divorced and not certain of ever having a steady 1st mate again, can a smaller Nordhavn be handled by only the Captain ?
Ron: Thanks for your note. I sent you an answer to this privately by email.
@@JeffMerrillYachts DANG I like an answer to that question also
Was that a dishwasher I saw in the galley?
Tammy: I don't think so. Forward is a stainless appliance that is a Vitrifrigo cooling drawer - one refrigerator and one freezer.
How tall are you? It seems as if the bridge windows are too high when you are standing at the wheel.
Robert: I’m about 5’11”. The pilothouse bridges are high, easy for me to see out standing or sitting on the bench seat. Less tall people add a raised platform, but the window placement is fine for most.
Minuscule cockpit, minuscule flybridge, 4'9'' draft...not my kind.
Alan: Not many boats this size that can cross oceans. Nordhavn builds larger boats that you might find less miniscule. Thanks for watching
What’s this going for? Price wise...
$475,000
In my opinion they are over asking, I would offer for $440,000
Gary: We don't put the price in the video in case it changes. All of the details, specifications and photos are on JMYS.com. Darren Boggs has already posted the current price below. If you are interested please call me 949.355.4950 or email me Jeff@JMYS.com, she is currently in RI.
@@darrenedger4552 Thanks for your help with Gary. Have you been aboard Sea Trek?
@@JeffMerrillYachts I tried looking but there is only like 4 boats on your site
F*cked up place for a washer dryer combo. Cons on this boat, No pilot chair, Location of washer dryer combo, No double kitchen sink, Lifelines too short, worthless in high seas, any life lines lower than the center of gravity are dangerous,
Wm: Sounds like your critique is of the model, not this particular boat. You may not know that a sistership circumnavigated.

It's really annoying how you try to embellish something that isn't there it's just a boat it has no more amenities than my RV and you're asking a you boat people are insane
Samuel: I try to respond to all feedback, positive and negative and appreciate you taking time to share your thoughts I don't know if you can give me an example of an embellishment, it is my intent to stick to the facts, but also to add some humor. Your RV, not sure what type is a land trawler, and RV's, like trawlers, have a lot of different price points and configurations so it's impossible to comment on perceived pricing. Oh, and this boat sold long ago so that is my best answer to your mention about insanity. Thanks for your time
