The main thing that blows me away about solid state amps is how much hate they get for just being solid state.

Acid bath used the metal zone for distortion, and I think it sounds perfect

Literally every sludge band used these back in the day, such a beast.

thank you for the video this just goes to prove that any equipment is nothing special till someone makes it special, from Jimmy Hendrix's dime a dozen white Fender guitar to Chuck Schuldiner's Marshall Valvestate 8100, to Kurt Cobain's Randall RG120 PH, and this brutal beauty made famous by Mr. Darrell Abbott. Do you agree or disagree?

I just picked up an RG80 tonight Cheap. I need an amp with that Randall sound that doesn’t weigh much, pedal friendly & will fit easily into my car. You probably already know that they sound very good.

    The older Randalls are tight

This video earned you my subscription. Clean and delightful micing and demonstration of the amp´s tone characteristics + several boosts.

  • @demwillams8898

Man ive been on a journey for a while trying to find a head that crushes w/o needing a boost. Really appreciate that quick knowledge drop letting folks know this head doesnt cut it unless boosted.

Just acquired an '86 RG80ES carpet head, my first Randall SS, and all I can say so far is WOW. It's making me wonder...why didn't these amps forever dispel the "tube vs solid-state" snobbery that continues to this day? I'm normally a Marshall plexi/tube guy all day, but this Randall just KILLS IT! Oh, and thanks for the informative vids!

I've started using randall back in 94 and have had many other amps but always go back to the rg,s with a metal zone!!!

Randall not only builds great heads but they also build amazing 4x12 cabinets. They're built like a tank and sound devastating for heavy music.
