I had such a great time at this event, I wish I had more time and energy to put into a long voiceover. I felt like I was running around non-stop between filming, taking photos, and talking to tons of people. Everyone I met for the first time treated me like an old friend; we are so lucky to have a thriving hobby full of kind and genuine people. Days like this will be some of my favorite memories for years to come. I truly hope this show will be revived some day in any fashion, even under a new name. It's a great event.
Fantastic coverage! l watched every second. Haven't built a styrene model for 61 years & must say l am staggered by the build quality, especially the paint work! 😳 Many Thanks! 👍
Great work capturing the builds at this final event, sir! It was great to see you and all the other builders I've found on RUclips and Instagram. Looking forward to catching up and seeing people's work at future events here on the west coast. My Del Rio wagon showed up at the 7:16 mark, and my other builds are featured from 24:22 to 24:39. Thanks for providing all of this footage!
Great to see you again Ajax! Sorry I had to pass on lunch with you and BG, regretting that, but as you can see from the video length I had my work cut out for me lol. I NEEEEED some videos on your AE86 and FD man!! Those were so cool, glad I got to check them out in person
You have stunning paint jobs man! I remember looking at your Nomad early on in the day and I was just blown away by the finish. Thanks for checking out the video, glad you enjoyed it
@@scaleffectit was crazy packed for the last alleged event. Every time I made a round the tables, I would see something new. I guess that’s what happens when there’s 1,300+ entered and 150+ just for display. I’m shocked at the reactions I’ve been getting from the cab.

Thanks for checking it out buddy, glad you enjoyed it! I am hopeful the show might return in a few years under new leadership, even if it has to move elsewhere in California. We'll see what happens, but the few times I've been able to go it's been an awesome event.
Thanks Rex for the fabulous video giving me the opportunity to see all the amazing models I missed seeing by not attending. It was almost as good as being there except not having the comradery of the other attendees and of course not getting to shop the swap meet. I was especially impressed with the many incredible lowrider paint jobs. Apparently many were done by young people who hopefully will keep the hobby going and maybe even NNL West !!
Thanks for checking out the video. I love comments like this because the video is a way for me to share the show experience with others who can't make it. I'm glad it seems it did just that for you.
Thanks for the coverage, speaks a lot for the scale of the show that the video is close to two hours long! I was there all day and i still noticed cars I missed. My builds can be seen at 54:18 ( I must have been having my 56 chevy photographed at that time) along with my little hot rod at 1:51
Probably was getting it's glamour shots done, I thought about trying to remember where there were slips with no models to go back later but I not only ran out of time, I never could have remembered them all unfortunately. Awesome to see your builds again, that taco truck is soooo cool man, and you know I love your Chevy with the surfboard on top (sorry it happened to get left out, but I got another photo of it!). Sorry we missed connecting again, we gotta plan better next show to try and link up.
You brought out a ton of great stuff! I really liked your junkyard scene; so often I see them done where every car has the same amount of rust and weathering, but yours looks like each individual car has a story behind how it ended up there at different points in time. Really well done man
@@scaleffect Yeah, all of them besides the vega and studebaker, weren't suposed to be rusty, but I either got a run or had a reaction between the primer and top coat. So I painted and aged them to be rusty, and slowly over time like in real junkyards I've been robbing parts off them
The pleasure was all mine Leon, it was awesome to meet you and see all of your talent and unique models. Keep doing what you are doing man, I love seeing your Bay Area take on all your builds, makes me feel like I'm back home. Hope to see you again soon my man!
1:40 and my dad's at 1:46 Again at 1:12:28 , although my Mercedes was missing because it was over at the AutoModeler Magazine photo booth and my dad's other 4 builds at 1:12:34 Thanks and your coverage is so thorough it's crazy. Can't wait until the next show as always, see you there!
Definitely missed a few entries as people were getting their beauty shots done. Great to see you guys again and always a pleasure getting to see your Honda and Porsche. Until next time!
Had a great time meeting you and getting to chat for a while, it was a pleasure. Already got the shop card at my workbench! Hope you enjoy the parts and find a use for them some day, and looking forward to seeing what you do with the speeder bike project as well.
@@scaleffectyes! Thank you again! I put them straight into the box to keep them safe. I’ll get to a stash add video from the show one day and make sure to show them off! Thanks again 👍
Man what an awesome video, my friend!! Just so many incredible builds. Thank you so much for taking the time to bring us through and show them all off.
Wish you could have made it somehow Kyle, would have been fun to geek out on all the open wheelers with you during the show. IPMS Nationals are in Indiana in 2026 I think, maybe we could make something happen... Thanks for checking it out man!
@@scaleffect they sure had some really incredible race car builds there. I absolutely wish I could’ve made it to one. I have heard the same thing about Nationals and I’m already excited about it. I wanted to go last year as it wasn’t TOO far from me but work got in the way. Would be awesome to meet in person sometime.
Awesome video, very well done, thank you for making it. 1:18:17 - 1:18:34 are my builds, my aqua ‘64 was not present at the moment. I can’t believe this is the final nnl west😭
My revell 54 Chevy 210, thank you sr. That one was a fun build, I had to make a pair of skirts for it & a custom muffler/exhaust pipe for the inline 6 as it came with I think a 409 v8.
Amazing video and mostly THANK YOU for not going too fast ! Other people move so fast that the camera dont have enough time to focus and you have to paused all the time to see each models ! 👍🥰
Thanks for checking it out and providing that feedback. I have been trying to improve my filming at shows, taking that extra second or two on each model to give each one its time in the spotlight. I'm glad to know the effort is coming through on the other end of the screen.
Starting @22:30 the orange 33 Ford as stated was built by the late Steve Travis and I'm so honored to be the caretaker of it. The black VW (type 82)and the Humvee were kits I built. Both are Tamiya kits in 1/48. The Humvee I built OOB for a facebook Gulf War group build like 10yrs ago. The VW can either be built as a type 82 staff car or as a civilian car. I have built both and they are very simple builds.
Very special to bring that to display, I really enjoyed checking out Steve's ford as well as your builds. The Humvee was especially cool to see. Looks like you traveled all the way from Texas! Hope you have a smooth and safe trip home.
There might be one closer than you think, there are NNL events all around the US, maybe in other countries too I'm not sure. A lot of real car shows will have model car shows alongside them as well. And if all else fails, you can always try to find a local IPMS show with all sorts of models, not just cars.
Matt you had one of my favorite sections of the whole show with all your race cars man! That's the type of stuff I want to get to doing. Do you have an Instagram or anything I can follow you on?
Great video coverage thanks for featuring my models It starts at 41:49 and runs thru 42:17. Sad at the "passing" of a great event, here's to hoping someone picks it up in the future.
Thanks for checking it out and you had some excellent builds out there. I love NASCAR so very cool to see some representation, the #1 Coke car was one of my favorites of the whole show
