- was brushy bill roberts really billy the kid? this video looks at several morphs of photos of the kid into photos of brushy. i do not claim any ownership of the images and music contained herein; i only 'share' these images to fulfill my own selfish agenda, which is to be known as the great edutainer to the lowly masses, aka 'you people.' God bless.
According to the documentary on Unsolved Mysteries, he was drawn out from obscurity and didn't seek publicity. He knew things that only somebody who was there during the Lincoln County War would have known that didn't make the history books.

They were one and the same. People who knew the kid back in 1881 came forward and said Brushy was indeed the kid. Also, Brushy knew things only the kid could've known. There's too many things that support Brushy's story. And people gotta remember, Brushy didn't come out and just say "Hey I'm Billy The Kid". He was drawn out.

Ole Bill was 5, 8" tall same as billy, speaked spanish "as well as any native" (according to morrison and others) had blue eyes, was confirmed by 5 living friends, three in writing, had "his distinctive blue eyes) And the exact same scars and then some. He supposedly had the same walk to hime, though slower and more choppy and shuffled, and i have watched EXTREMELY extensive disprover videos and read TOO MANY papers, and to pull an ancient aleins, not gonna say it's him, but it's him. the posse sent to kill him, were running out of time, they had just killed somebody in another county which wasn't necessarily law-friendly. and billy was en route to mexico. their options were running out. they just wanted it over. the death report was lost that same day. no affidavits were filed. garrett never got paid the reward money, instead reaping his fame and fortune from the book deal. nearly everyone admitted in private, an entirely different story, even giving dates he had visited.
Well this settles it Brushy Bill and Emelio Estevez are the same person.

I saw a video years ago where he supposedly came out of the dessert with a pack anemal around 1950 or so claming to be the kid. This guy could indeed be him. He knew the right answers that folks of current hgistory denie. I say it;s him!
Dude!! Brushy had ALL the same traits, mannerisms, jester, ect... he had ALL the same wounds the kid did. And then some. People who knew the kid and meet brushy bill were willing to testify that they were the same people. He was the kid!!!!!!! R.I.P kid/brushy.

A university ran Brushy's face through an FBI facial recognition program and it was a 93% match to Billy. Note this is even after Brushy had dental work done and the tintype of Billy was warped. Without those issues it would likely have been an even closer match, but 93% is enough to hold up in court AND his was the only face that matched Billy's!
I have idolized Billy the Kid since I was 12 and he will always be my hero

I strongly recommend that folks read w.c. jameson's ebook with brushy's actual statements and story, befor commenting against him with 'info' from the haters' pages... they don't equally know as much about the real evidence. for example they claim he was wrong when he said john selman was there. now it appears he signed a petition to wallace in 1877. nobody thought he was there EXCEPT brushy. how do you explain that?
Or the dentist,the bullet under the skin in the same place as Billy,detailed knowledge of people's homes that was torn down before his interview.🙂

The thing is, if they had met him seventy years earlier, then of course they wouldn't know him. But if they had kept in touch (which would be the only way severo and hines would have mentioned him) than they could have still remembered eachother

Right on, it's actually plausible that Pat Garret put BTK at the top of his list after becoming sheriff to actually help him get away, knowing that BTK in fact wasn't you're typical thug, in an attempt to say he was dead and prevent others from hunting him down. It's an interesting topic but people fail to focus on the obvious, he was in a hometown hardware store dispute, not a bank or train robber or thief of any kind, not a threat to the public. The term 'outlaw' doesn't even really fit.
There's not really any reason to believe Brushy wasn't The Kid.
No proff exists that the kid was killed. He said she said is nothing more then speculation and truth be known the people who claimed he was dead were his allies and the law. Allies lied so Billy could disappear and the law lied because they couldn't let the public know they killed the wrong man. Pat was the kids greatest friend and they were blood brothers who saved each other's lives more then once. Do you honestly believe Garret would have killed Billy? I really doubt he did.
What about the other gent? Supposedly he'd confided in his family that he was The Kid, and they didn't come fourth about it until his death. Supposedly he had the scars, the knowledge, spoke Spanish fluently. There was also supposed to be this chest that contained hard evidence he was The Kid, but it was never retrieved.
Stupid distracting music, if you can call it that, totally inappropriate for a western scene.
to me, brushy's version of events, if true, are a much bigger deal historically, sociologically and psychologically than the accepted history. brushy's billy takes us much further into that scene, having taken place in about 20 states and 4 or 5 countries, with belle starr, the james', pinkerton, judge parker and other notables. this is not as farfetched as some may think.the west was actually quite small with many 'highly mobile' individuals ala kit carson,scheffelin,etc.
I would loved to have been able to watch this, but the music was so loud. Some idiot ruined a possibly great video.
@KesslersCross ... thanks for the comment. i agree, morphing (to some degree) can be manipulated, and just this side of that concept is the possibility that morphs can also be misinterpreted.i ran out of space in this post, i'll send another one explaining MY analysis process.
about the 'only pic:' there is only one photo considered by history and known through time as billy.that doesn't mean there aren't others.he was actually quite photogenic.i'm running out of reply space,look for next post.
. At a glance, the tintype of Billy and the photo of the younger Brushy didn't look the same until I looked at both images carefully. The whole face-the shape, as well as his chin, etc, match up almost perfectly, I could tell it was probably the same person, yet a little older. The eyes are similiar, yet in the tintype, Billy's eyes were half shut-he actually looked drunk or something-really. Also Pat Garret's own daughter & grandson claimed that Pat didn't kill the Kid, as well as some of the details that Brushy gave out about the Lincoln Co. affair, etc., that only a few researchers knew, allegedly. Not to mention scars, etc. I think there is a strong possibility that Brushy was indeed Billy The Kid. If you have read what Brushy had to say, and if it was absolutely true, he did have quite a remarkable life....GO REGULATORS!!!
Brushy photo the early one compared to main Billy photo match with computer software something like 96% and photos of definitely the same person most of the time don't give those percentages its all in the latest book on this topic and on docs online with the academic research to back up the claims.
Not to mention its not as if Brushy Bill appeared all of a sudden claiming to be BTK it only came to light after Frank Evans (i think) told an insurance salesman that BTK was living in Hico under the name Brushy Bill roberts. What would Evans gain by saying that i firmly believe BB and BTK are one in the same
just because a place becomes a town at a given year doesnt mean it didn't exist before that.
I don't know if he was BTK or not,but several people that knew Brushy stated they heard him speak Spanish fluently. The day of the hearing he was having a stroke and couldn't hardly speak English,much less Spanish.

you hit the heart of the argument against roberts, the dalton issue and the age are nagging questions that need to be resolved. the dalton association, while suspicious, may have alternate explanation. they really need to exhume and examine brushy for age. to me the whole question rests here. thanks.

Right on, I consider it very hard to believe a person who vowed to get BTK would feel it better to write a book as proof as opposed to simply taking a death photo, which was very customary at the time. I feel Garrett was smart enough and obviously wanted the notoriety enough, if in fact it was BTK to make sure a photo was taken, yet somehow he didn't? Not saying Brushy is BTK, just that it's 'plausible' (to me) BTK may have lived the inconspicuous life it seemed he wanted all along

actually both BTK and brushy were ambidextrous. brushy said he could shoot slightly better lefthanded, which could have contributed to the 'lefthand gun' myth.
experts familiar with the daguerreotype process always knew about the mirror image thing, they even look at which side a man's buttons are on to generally tell.but the knowledge was so uncommon in the general public til the internet.brushy seemed to imitate the tintype pose from memory,with correct orientation.yes paul newmans film'left handed gun' came out nearly 2decades after brushy posed.so it still wasnt a well known fact. continued

thats what i thought, then we noticed in pt.2 that a number of closely matching images had wide wrists, foreshortened hands and a very long proximal phalanx of the fingers, as he appears to have in the famous tintype and the deAragon photo.

The thing is everyone claims Billy the Kid got killed by Pat Garrett but the thing is we will never truly know where he got killed or where he's buried maybe someday someone that is very smart we'll figure it out. Billy the Kid always be the greatest outlaw of all time no one has ever been better than him those are my opinions and I don't care what other people think
agreed. its amazing how complex this situation was. the politics around billy's 'death' were HUGE. new mexico was ruled by military contractors who got rich selling beef to the army in the war of 1861. they didnt want a populace; they didnt want conventional law. i don't believe early accounts of BTK's brutality; the papers were owned by the cattlemen. billy was a target & conducted himself accordingly. he didnt deserve the death sentence of an elite who were angry at a growing story about the victims they were making. maybe someday someone very persistent will figure it out, if bulletproof evidence somehow miraculously surfaces. its getting less likely every day. but yea he got a bad rap.
that video with the pack animal was called young guns II,it handed the subject to the public en masse.when interviewed brushy didn't simply answer,but at times held morison off when he had something more involved to say on matters.his story when dovetailed with existing knowledge,provides a curious informational brew,and yes he COULD be btk.i've indulged the brushyhaters lately and found their 'smoking gun evidence' while compelling was just more of the circumstantial type.keep looking.
between the photos, the information brushy gave in the interviews, and a giant stack of circumstantial evidence, either brushy was BTK or the devil is afoot.... big time...

One major problem. The Authenticated photo of Billy the Kid is a mirror image of him. That means you would have to reverse his photo before making the comparison. In this case they haven't done that. You know the photo of the Billy the Kid is a reverse photo because of the winchester rifle, the loading port is on the wrong side of the rifle in the photograph. horrible music
There was a crazy dude who always rode an old timey bicycle in my NC town when I was a kid. 35 now. Everyone called him Billy the Kid because he said Billy the Kid held him as a baby (which probably wasn't possible even with his age) unless! Billy survived. Haha! But yeah he said William H. 2:00 Brushy's photo is being tilted to match Billy's. This is being done to make it match. Otherwise the chins are different. At 2:19, I'm not sure why Brushy's photo is tilted again.
Brushy's stories are believable however his pictures are clearly not.
I'm not sure what computer comparisons have been made.

Billy the kid was not left handed. The TinType shows a reverse image that made his holster look to be on his left side when it was really on his right.

If you love the idea of Billy riding off in the sunset check out the movie Old Henry great movie . As far as what happen in Fort Sumner , I do believe that Garrett shot the wrong Billy ( Barton ) or something like that. But could not admit to it and used it as a cover up.

I know for a fact Brushy Bill Roberts is Billy the Kid after I saw Young Guns II in 1987, the year my 107 yr old cousin died who used to play cards with Pat Garret and Pat never trusted his own family with his secret, my cousin was 20 yrs younger than Billy and held that secret that Pat never killed Billy until he was 100 and positive the kid was not 120 and the secret could be told but I am the only one telling it, as I am the only one that knows the actual truth, Pat and Billy were friends, why would he kill his friend that was fighting against the ring for true freedom, JJ. Hagerman despised the Freemasons and made JP Morgan very wealthy on the promise the Brotherhood would not to bankrupt him but they did anyway in 1893 when he was trying to turn the Desert green with his and Pat's irrigation projects and dams for new immigrants and Texas wanted the oil the veins in Texas were pointing towards under New Mexico so they cut off his funding source with the Sherman Silver Purchase Act. Once Hagerman who owned 51% of the first National Bank died in 1909, then they could come up with the Federal Reserve In 1907, the U.S. faced a worldwide financial crisis called the Panic of 1907. Those photos look nothing alike. The mouth and chin... you don’t acquire a square jaw through the aging process. Brushy Bill has a square jaw and and very pronounced chin. Billy the kid does not.

If you notice that in the picture of Billy the Kid the one eyebrow is higher than the other. They are not symmetrical. If you were to fold the picture in half the eyes would line up but the eyebrows will not. It looks like the bone structure beneath the eyebrows are offset. In the picture of Brushy Bill the eyes and eyebrows are even with each other. If you were to fold the picture of Brushy Bill in half the eyes and eyebrows would line up with each other. To me Brushy Bill is not Billy the Kid.
But if Billy the Kid had some plastic surgery performed on his face to hide from the authorities then it's possibly could be. Did Brushy Bill acknowledge that he had plastic surgery done on his face?

Real billy looks more like sylvestr stallone as a child than brushy as an old man. Look the jaw and chin between 2 man's not the same positioning, look his eyes, the color also.

I don't understand the big attraction. It was over one hundred years ago! What real difference does it make in 2012? I just don't get it. Besides, it's not something that's ever going to be solved to everyone's satisfaction, anyway. No matter what happens, there will always be people who believe Brushy was Billy, and there will always be people who believe he wasn't. I love history, but this just seems like a waste of time and energy. Anyway, that's my take on the whole thing.
Well if you believe county birth records Brushy Bill was only 2 yrs old when The Kid was killed because it says he was born in 1879 even though Brushy Bill claimed he was born in 1859. I personally believe the county birth record myself.

The main thing that makes me think he was is the main reason he was discrrdited. He was right handed. Brushy claimed Billy was right handed. No one knew up until 1995 when someone noticed the photo was developed in a mirror image.
I'm convinced Pat shot the wrong guy. Not convinced Brushy was the Kid tbough. Facial analysis experts do not agree on it. Supposedly his scars matched Billy's, said one of his old friends, but that can not be confirmed.
great comment. if brushy wasnt the kid, damn if he didnt play the part. circumstantial evidence built up for/against his being the kid. his detractors actually helped him by not understanding the history as well as he did. since internet investigation has burgeoned, there are a few simple questions it seems he woudnt have been able to answer easily. a photo he claimed was from 1934 has a late '40s studebaker in it. the houck connection is suspicious. a photo shows brushy & morrison posing under a sign saying 'come see billy the kid' so there was a sideshow element. theres a guy that claims brushy's knowledge came from a 1934 pseudo-historical novel about BTK.
NONE of these photos are 100% sure to be billy imo. but,
there was a guy claiming to have a copy of his birth record as mcCarty from a buffalo gap ancestry library (?) but to my knowledge it was never produced. photos/records from the spanamerican war could be him, matching his story. but he could have done that as roberts, as he would be of age by then. but the records say mcCarty. age 40, dishonorably discharged. theres a guy claiming to have a BTK federal immigration arrest record from elPaso, 1902, which was supposedly 'lost' by order of some higher authority.
sure garrett was politicized, as was lew wallace, as were the judges and LEOs all down the line.
theres a lot more out there on both sides
& some great blogs as you probably know.

You're right Billy the kid did'nt die that night, but brushy Bill couldnt have been Billy! BTK was born in 1857! He was an orphan taken in by Lucien Maxwell.
What about the other dude who never even claimed publicly to be The Kid? He had more credibility than Brush Bill I think. Nobody knows what happened except Pat Garret, who gunned down who he thought was The Kid in a dark room. I'm not saying I think Brushy, or the other gent was The Kid, but if they even find undeniable proof that Billy The Kid grew to a ripe old age, I won't be the least bit shocked.
This wasn't 2012 - it wasn't even in our life time. Back then there were no forensics.

I'm currently reading the journals of Lewis and Clark, talk about a couple of bad asses! I can't imagine eating a dog for dinner, waking up the next morning with a hungry grizzly bear or two looking for breakfast then running into a pack of territorial indians with zero tolorance for trespassing by noon.
