How to fix a PS4 Dualshock 4 with sticky L1 & R1 buttons

This is a really easy fix for sticking L1 & R1 buttons on your PS4 pad - which seems to be quite a common issue.
Carefully ease the button out by gently levering from the top and clean the button and hole with a cotton bud soaked in screen cleaner. This will remove any sticky dirt thats built up during play :)
To re-insert line up the two mounting points and firmly push the button back in until it clicks into place.
Then simply enjoy your fully working pad again!

Thanks for this. The little rubber thing underneath the button was out of alignment on mine which was making the button sort of squishy but not to the point where it got stuck. I pushed down on the side that was raised up with the qtip and now it works perfectly

This saved my life, If anyone has L1 or R1 stuck inside problem and even if you pop and put the button again does not work follow the steps (Worked for me)
1-) Pull out the R1 or L1 (Which one is stuck whatever you do)
2-) Look inside of the button and you will see a plastic surface(which is the place that renders your input its really easy to see which is the only thing in there) and in the MIDDLE OF THAT SURFACE there is a small circle/dot that stuck inside
3-) You need to have a thin sharp pointed something like a toothpick and pull that small circle out (Just gently play with it and you'll see something going to pop up)
4-) After you pop up you need to put it back (once again gently) to it's place and put your button back

@@HandRollessight Yea no problem most common problem with this is that that black circle/dot gets stuck all the time and you need to fix it. But what I did was I cut a small piece of plastic (really small piece) and put that piece of plastic under the black circle/dot, this way because there is something under it, it won't get stuck inside

I’m sad this didn’t work out for me, but at least I was able to learn something new, give it a try, and narrow down my options. Now I know for certain that I need a new controller (it’s the same one I got with this console back in 2015, so it’s definitely time).

Awesome thanks! The actual rubber button inside was stuck for me and I was able to clip a piece of rebar wire and place it in the hole for the piece that pushes it. Works just fine now.!

BCom976 I was having the same problem with the R1 button just not responding when I pressed it. Wasn't sticking or anything either. I did everything in this video and it works again. Don't know why or how but it works now. If you haven't already I suggest to just do this anyways.
