    What are they? Do I have them? Is it a problem? And how do I counter-act this?
    In this session, senior Iyengar teacher Kathy Cook and Iyengar teacher in training Lisa will demonstrate how to diagnose, and be mindful about hyperextended elbows when practicing yoga. They will use down dog pose to demonstrate how to prevent hyperextended joints from getting worse, and how to modify the poses if you have such conditions.

      Silvia, This perspective can help you open your understanding of the body and awareness to practice in a safe way. Our joints are precious and need to be protected so they don’t wear out. Watch your actions in everyday activities to see where you can modify so as not to harm yourself unknowingly. Namaste

    thank you so much for great explanation ! I don't have Hyperextendeded elbows but i found very interesting discovery how my upper arm activated with a strap .

      Thank you for your comment. My elbows do not hyperextend but I have found, through teaching many students with varying degrees of imbalance, all are different. Experimenting with what helps to bring awareness and at the same time balance is a big part of our practice. We all including myself, are always learning, what would you like to suggest based on your experience?
