Great talk, park is so charismatic yet gentle and gracious. Translation was almost word by word 😅 I’d find it hard to piece together park’s words too he’s very careful with choice of words and very descriptive. Different from bong who tends to be more witty and fast.
Omg yes. It’s so underrated as well, it’s hardly discussed or reviewed anywhere. It’s the only Park Chan-Wook movie which I can rewatch any time without depleting my emotions 😅
It’s based on a novel fingersmith by sarah waters. Someone (wife or friend can’t remember) recommended the book to him and when he got to the bit where sue grinds maud’s sharp tooth with the thimble he wanted to visualise it and make it into a movie. He works with various female staff and have been for a long time. All of them get involved right from the start and make a tremendous input. He says if his movie wins best script (he’s worked with the same female writer since I’m a cyborg) he can claim some of the credit and similarly if he wins best director it’s as if the writer has won it too. On a side note he’s a liberal man like many korean directors of the korean new wave.
Park Chan Wook is not just a directorial genius, he is charismatic and full of humor.
Best artists often are.
Legendary,
Every Park Chan Wook film I watched has left me thinking and in awe.
Jin Jung Yes! Every last one of them is awe-inspiring. My personal favourite is Sympathy For Mr. Vengeance, but all of them are great.
World's greatest director and writer
Park chan wook
wow translator is on point
Chris Translator is amazing He actually catch everything park said
one of the greats. :)
it's a blessing to have him
Bruh I'm saving this 1 hour of GOODNESS
Damn... Bong Joon-Ho’s Sharon Choi kind of ruined my expectation for translator... She’s setting such an impossibly high standard 😅
You're right haha. This translator is actually really good, it's just impossible to compete with her.
true
Sucks that they didn't have more time to talk about the handmaiden :/

My Park Chan Wook's best is 'Thirst'()
It's an almost perfect film. The kitchen scene, for instance, is so compelling. Incredible.

I like it
translator did a good job but still could have simplified to deliver effectively.
why did he address him as 'Park' but addressed Wonjo by his first name 🤦♂️

The only question i have for this man is why would a make a wlw film? For his desire or because he actually respects us as women and lgbt?
