I am Korean and quite fluent in English and I find the translator did a wonderful job. Park Chan Wook is one of the most credible and talented filmmaker alive today.
박찬욱 목소리만 있는 영상은 없겠죠?
As an American i’d say it’s a shame that foreign films and directors aren’t all that widespread here. Park Chan Wook is a must see director among the likes of Scorsese and Tarantino. I hope his films get the notoriety they deserve in light of his passing, truly a legend if there ever was one.
That Translator is amazing. He's so quick and precise.
Agreed. I've heard Korean-American UFC translators and they're very slow/inaccurate/inept by comparison. It must be cuz Park has such a close working relationship with Jung.
that guys been with him since Thirst (as far as i know it could be longer!)
I am not a korean speaker and I swear I wanst even 30 seconds into the video than I ran to read the comments in search of one like this
but i dont get why didn't Mr.Park learn English.
@@MrEvangrapher perhaps because he's not British, American, nor Austrailian
Boy I just love park Chan wook films
Oldboy, the handmaiden, decision to leave are one of my favourite movies ever ❤️❤️
Park Chan-Wook is a genius filmmaker of all time, Thanks Bafta for this great interview.
"genius filmmaker of all time" ??? Hahaha xD
@@cemaldindar771 are you making fun of his English or what he meant
@@tylerdurden2832 No I said he is not genius filmmaker of all time!
@@cemaldindar771 you're entitled to your opinion. There's no reason to laugh.
34:26 What a very impressive explanation. How you ask questions is the most important key to make your excellent plot.
I loved stoker...that's brilliant movie from brilliant director..also potrait by brilliant actors,, matthew Goode and mia..
Despite being a movie with amazing quality and full of intellectual fun, It's incredibly lesser-known.
listening to him talk is so entertaining and exciting

박찬욱 강의
굿굿
what’s the book which he says he felt like he wrote
Thérèse Raquin by Émile Zola
Could anyone tell me what film they are talking about at the start? Where they talk about Shamanism and all that stuff
i think its Paranmanjang (Night Fishing)
Any filmmaker watching this?

영화배우 뺴고 젤 멋있ㅋ는 한국남자!
Park Chan wook is like Edgar Wright but with opposite genres.
How? Could you expand on that?
@@15awesomehighfive
Very precise, loads of set up and pay off.
Something like that.
this is a comment I never thought I needed but totally did
Fun fact: Park Chan-wook frequent DP, Chung Chung-hoon, has worked with Edgar Wright in his latest film, Last Night in Soho!
Great lecture. Honestly though, it'd be better to just put the translator's voice on top of Park's. That or just put subtitles. It's kind of bloated.
this is true. i think there's a mix of people in the audience though so it's needed. though editing could fix this. but ohwell. that translator is on point
Onnu podo
One of the most overrated director of all time! Oldboy is just overrated!
How?
I dont agree. All of his films are great
