You should absolutely use premium vinyl plank flooring throughout. So durable and pretty and you don’t have to worry about ever replacing it in your lifetime as long as you pick the right color.
We've been out looking at LVP flooring and boy it's a hard choice. You're right, you better like it, cuz it's a lot to look at. We finally chose a stain for our cabinets today.
As a home designer, research everything about handicap accessible. For instance, place light switches at doorknob height. Bathroom floors all drain to the back of shower wall, without any step-ups. Good luck in your forever home. Also master vanity sink without the typical bowl sink. So if ever one day ,a person in a wheelchair can slide right under allowing close access to the faucet.
As the saying goes, what's for you is for you, and those 4 acres were destined to be yours. May God bless you with good health and success in your ventures, Karen and Dave. 👍🏾🙏🏾❤
I love it. I own a 2000sq. foot home on a little over an acre in Harleyville SC. Beautiful small town. Bought it in 2001. Four kids are grown and have grand kids now. In my sixties now and just love my little town. And of course no HOA. Great people in my town. Enjoy your remaining years. I certainly am. God bless.
Congratulations! Hope everything goes well with your new home build. I'll continue to watch whether you travel or not. I'm sure everyone else will too.
Dude is adorable. I hope everything goes great for your new home. You know there are always things that come up but you figure it out. I built my "last " home about a decade ago but I probably will be moving one more time. Stay safe and healthy.
Congratulations. Don't forget get to add a doggie bath. Either a small separate room area or garage but make sure he can get up in the tub by himself and you can give him a bath and cut . As we get older it's hard to been down to bath our furr babies. Happy building and decorating. Dave is a handy man to have around. Keep a bunch of cases of beer around to keep him happy. Enjoy . I can't wait for all the update video's! Be safe, happy, not very frustrated, and lots of patience.
Thanks so much. Good idea. We have added a wand in the shower to wash Dude while we take a shower with him. Dave will probably build something for him to stand on.
We are building our last home also. We wanted something that would benefit us now and later so first we down sized so the pole barn on our property is now our home. We went with white wash bead board 2” in kitchen that runs into western cedar. Trying to get farm house country look with country western look. It’s starting to come together and looks amazing. I’m doing it myself but my advice to you is this being the last one don’t be afraid to do or try something new or different. Build it the way you want it not the way someone else wants it. Have fun with it.
@@WattsOnWheels I’ll get some pictures today just remember you will see things and think someone is living there cause we are. We’ve been asked a few times are y’all living in there. I’ve been working on it since January 3. All the kids are gone so we down sized and it’s 24x32 inside of a pole barn 24x40 with a 12x30 addition on the side for laundry room and Den. I’m making it simple and when the day comes and we need a wheelchair we have some room to move oh and ramps will be on all porches.
Love this! Everyone has asked why we don’t sell our home as we are on the road 6-7 months a year. We like having a home base. You never know what life is going to throw your way!🎉
My inlaws added a line to the ceptic tank as a dump station next to their 40 x 40 out building/garage. So when they got home or were ready to leave on a trip, they would have clean tanks. They also had a water spigot and 50 amp power near by too. Something to think about. Beautiful home plan, you'll love it. Safe Travels.
In our county they said we'd have to put in a separate septic field for the RV garage, so we wanted to, but declined. But we will have power and water inside and outside.
Congratulations, We are in the process of searching for a new home but its been a very hard road.. Almost everything, everywhere is HOA with no RV allowed. We have found a few homes that will allow us to bring our rig but the house floor plans are horrible. Hopefully we will find something soon as we are around your age and need to lay our feet on our own private ground.. We wish you all the luck in the world with your build.. And thanks for sharing. Herbie, Mary, & Peanut.
Hi guys. Know exactly what you mean. It's so hard to find a place that will accept RVs. Finding something without an HOA is almost impossible and then you have all those "rules" to follow and more money to put out each month. Hope you find something that works for you. Thanks for your continued support.
Being a Floridian we traveled to Blairsville area every summer and winter break in the 1960’s and 1970’s until we bought ( parents ) bought our second home in NC near Sylva. Sold that cabin to close friends in the early 2000’s. I’ve seen a lot of change in N GA. I use to be able to walk anywhere in those woods. Fish anywhere, and do things nobody is allowed to do anymore. Urban sprawl has found Gainesville, Cleveland, Dillard, Clayton, Delonaga ( spelling ). But it’s a great area to retire. I love that area. Can’t wait to see the progress. Maybe a Harvest Host stop😉
You're right all of this area is growing. We even said, you know that 10 acre horse farm could be a subdivision one day. True, but at least we have our private 4 acres to ourselves. :) Hopefully it will stay "country" for a couple more decades.
@@WattsOnWheels It looks like a great spot. Even if it does get developed, y’all have your piece a dirt, nice house, nice barn for everything and a hot tub. WIN WIN
Congratulations. On the house and the new puppy. What kind of puppy. Looks like a doodle of some sort. I think it's awesome that you're going to be able to house as well.
Congratulations! The house plan looks awesome! You might want to think about a bathing station, maybe in the garage, for Dude. That would be sooo convenient to have. Also, because of Dude you might want to have LVP floors? Anyhow, I’m excited for you guys as you travel down this new path and I look forward to watching the home building process! 😀
Congrats on your new adventure. Hope all goes smoothly you don’t have Dave working too hard. That beer can get expensive. Stay in touch and when we get to South Carolina to visit our son and family, we may just give you a look up. Take care and we will see you on the road.
Good for you guys looks like a beautiful location. Be nice to put down some roots and have stuff all in one location. Congratulations. Keep up the good work. Say hi to Dude. Happy Father’s Day.
It’s good you’re doing that. We rv a lot, especially since we retired 3 years ago, we thought about full time but at the end of the day getting older we decided to keep our ranch house and all for the reasons your building now. Wish you would have did it sooner tho.
I am so happy for you guys. What a wonderful opportunity with that beautiful land. So proud you found a a forever place. But glad u are still going to communicate with us as your build progresses and travels
Congratulations 🎉 🍾 to new adventures ❤ what better way to figure out where you want to be then traveling all over. No regrets in your future!! Can’t wait to see your new videos.
We have enjoyed and learned so much from both of you. So we will continue watching your channel and look forward to watching your home build. There's never enough beer for Dave and we need to know how many beers does Dave need to build the house? We agree on those States because we absolutely loved North Dakota but I can't bring anywhere where it snows 85 ft at any given time. We are super happy for both of you. Are you keeping the house pay also? It sounds like you get one little room in the rest of all. The buildings and rooms are going to be for Dave and all the things he needs. Lol and I can't believe you've been on the road for 7 years, but you're one of The originals we watched from the very beginning before we started full-time RVing. Once again thank you for your wealth of knowledge and advice. We look forward to your next chapter.
Hi guys. First of all, we really appreciate you guys for hanging out with us for all these years. It's amazing how time flies. Dave could care less about the house. He can't wait to get into his super sized RV garage/man cave. LOL. Thanks for following our journey all these years.
Contratulations on your new home plans. Sounds like you found your ideal location. We will continue to follow your adventures with your new home build and travels.
Congrats 👏 I currently live in California.. born and raised .. 20 years ago I bought 8 acres with a double wide in Carnesville / Taccoa that I will retire to .. been to Cleveland Helen several times. So beautiful out there !! I'll be doing same thing .. travel and stay in North Georgia
Your plans sound a lot like what we did in 2020. We wanted no HOA, at least an acre, garage, 3 BR, 2bath and enough room in the driveway to park our RV. We found a place in Upstate SC . Good luck with your plans. I would suggest use very little carpet .
I usevto go to helen all the time. Love the dancing in the lounge at the steak house. I went south. I left snellville ga for bonaire ga south of Warner Robbins AFB. Im retired trucker n my wife ran with me during covid. I ran pepsi contract and knauf contract . I took her all around Michigan. Upper to. She absolutely hated Detroit but loved the rest. Personally i would have went above helen. We might be camping up there this summer. Maybe.
That whole area up there is awesome. North of Helen is very pretty, but we wanted to stay within 1 hour of our houseboat. But the good news is, we are only minutes away from Helen and north of there.
Can't wait to see this one start .....as you already know I'm so looking forward to watching this progress , its going to be an exciting change and just as exciting to watch it unfold
I always wondered what your exit plans looked like...I remember a couple years back you did a video on 3(?) different locations with like Casita's/Tiny Houses and Big Garages...we have looked at similar types for the future, though we are not full time/just a way to downsize and still get what we need and be able to travel while health allows us. We so wanted to put up a 40x60 pole barn but Twp and HOA said nope, no way. So we opted for what they would allow, which wasn't much. Best of luck with your build!
Yep, we all need an exit plan. But things always seem to change. We are excited that we will be able to have a big RV garage so we can have everything together.
Hey There! Guys this looks awesome. We are so happy for the two of you. Good luck, the plans look great and we can't wait to see all the progress and the the finished product. Get the Beer ready for a visit when you guys get settled in and up and running. Love you guys and be safe out there in the woods. Jean and Paul
Congratulations!! Your home and area is going to be beautiful! We're happy for you both and look forward to watching the progress. We all have to do what works for us. 😄
Love the design of your new home! Absolutely beautiful. You folks have great taste anyhow judging by the work done on your houseboat and other properties you have remodel. Looking forward to watching the build as we would like to do the same in the future!
Congratulations on the new home, I don’t comment much but I’ve followed since you’ll started rving. I just enjoy the videos of the lake or Dave working on something. Be safe
Congrats! Looks like a nice retirement house and what man wouldn't be jealous of a 40x60 garage/workshop woo hoo. When you said you were an hour north of Atlanta when you moved there, I thought depending on the time of day that could only be a few miles.
Sooooo happy for you all! 🥰This age thing sucks at times! But to have a home base, yet still be able to travel how AWESOME! Again, can’t wait to see more videos on your progress. Take care and love you guys!♥️♥️♥️
It is great to have a permanent home base to return to. Everything will be so convenient for you and Dave. Dave be sure to design you a beer room in the storage building, maybe a bar with a keganator for beer on tap 🍺
Hi guy's...we think you made a good decision...if you notice...we didn't go full time...we love our place...actually...we are in dolores CO now...wishing we were back at home..🤔🤔..anyway..congratulations...we know your going to enjoy it..stay safe...J&A2ofus
"There's no place like home", right? It will be nice to not have to worry about storms and other things on the houseboat. We'll keep it, but for recreation, not for living.
Are you guys moving the house boat up to the Chattahoochee, Murrayville or Chestatee River end of the lake? It's great you've got several good options closer to your new home.
Not for right now. Going to leave it where it is as we like the open slips and the wonderful people on the dock. Things could change in the future though.
You were not homeless, you were houseless! 🤩
Ahhh yes, you are correct.

Hi you two. Beer is chilling right now. Hope to see you in August.

We're sure we will have our trials with the build, but it will be worth it in the end.
Congratulations!! Your home and area is going to be beautiful! We're happy for you both and look forward to watching the progress. We all have to do what works for us. 😄
Yes, you are right. Thanks for watching our journey.
Seems like most people stop the full time RV stuff after about 7 yrs. Hope you enjoy your new home
If we had started younger, we'd still be doing it for sure. Just slowing down a bit as the years are creeping up on us. :)

Congratulations.. I’m still in Michigan.. we will be snow birds this year..
We can't blame you. Summer is nice up there, but winter is too long and cold.
Congrats! Looks like a nice retirement house and what man wouldn't be jealous of a 40x60 garage/workshop woo hoo. When you said you were an hour north of Atlanta when you moved there, I thought depending on the time of day that could only be a few miles.
LOL...yep, we stay away from Atlanta as much as possible.
❤❤ I hope all goes well with the house
Thanks you two. 🥰
So cool! We wish you an exciting next chapter!
Thank you very much.
Sooooo happy for you all! 🥰This age thing sucks at times! But to have a home base, yet still be able to travel how AWESOME! Again, can’t wait to see more videos on your progress. Take care and love you guys!♥️♥️♥️
Thanks sooooo much. We appreciate you.
An HOA, is a great reason to get out the artillery.
Best wishes all.
LOL. Been there, done that....don't want to do that again.
I am so happy for y'all..Congrats. I will love to see all on the new build. Love and Hugs from Oklahoma.
Thanks so much. Good to hear from you Gwen.
Congrats! Sounds great! Fully understand! Looking forward to watching you going forward!
Good Luck!
It’s BEER THIRTY!

Thanks. guys and many blessings from Texas enjoy everyday 🙏🙏
Hi! We'll get back to Texas. Love camping there.
Your plans sounds wonderful!
Thanks so much.
It is great to have a permanent home base to return to. Everything will be so convenient for you and Dave. Dave be sure to design you a beer room in the storage building, maybe a bar with a keganator for beer on tap 🍺
You got it man. Got to keep the beer endless. :)
Congratulations how exciting looks pretty cool. Make sure you have a good size fridge for the beer 🍺 😉 👌
Thanks! Gotta whole separate fridge lined up for the beverages. 😉
We ended up selling our 5th wheel because it was costing us too much to store it and our new home has an HOA (😡) and we couldn’t keep it close.
Oh man, that sucks.
Sounds Heavenly. Congratulations!
Thank you kindly!
Congratulations on the house and good luck to you both.🎉
Thank you so much 😀
Congratulations on building your new home and I will keep you both in prayers
Thank you so much!
Congratulations 🥳 looking forward to your new adventures.
Thank you!! 😊
So exciting!
So happy for you guys.
Thanks so much. We are looking forward to it.
Congrats!!! So happy for you
Thank you so much. 💖
Best of luck with everything
Thank you so much.
The right side elevation needs needs to have some additional siding details added. Big straight walls of lap siding tend to look cheap and boring...
That's the architects rendition, not ours. But the right side is not seen by anyone, but it will be jazzed up a bit. 👍
Congrats. Happy for you. Love your channel. Perfect location.
Thanks so much!
I think this is awesome and normal for long term rvers. We all need a stationary spot.
Yep, we all need an exit plan. But we still want to get out there an travel. We look forward to traveling again in the future.
I love it ❤️ good for you guys, congratulations 👏🎉
Thank you so much Kendel.
