How we made a DIY PVC / EMT Electric Go Kart (48V 2000W)

  • We used PVC and EMT through it for a strong frame that looks cool and our kids could built it! Plus, it can handle a more powerful 2000 Watt brushless motor for little ones and adults - 40+ kph !!!

It would be much appreciated by many if you made a video showing how to make this step-by-step. Including parts list, dimensions, how you made the steering, drivetrain, wiring, etc.

Great job!! Very creative use of PVC! If no one else has nominated you for 'Father of the Year', let me be the first! If you're anything like me, you wanted this mainly for you, and the kids can use it, too! ;-) I'm (a very youthful) 64 years old, and I recently converted a gas-powered go kart to all electric.....I'm using a 48 volt system, also, with a 7Kw (5-11 horsepower) motor, with (4) 55aH batteries. I'm exploring the idea of converting to lithium batteries and a BMS.....Mine will get up to 45 mph...since I converted a commercial kart, mine has full front and rear suspension, so it's also great off-road. I ride it every single day around my neighborhood (weather permitting)! I'm starting work on another vehicle, this one a "reverse trike" (two wheels in the front, one (the drive wheel) in the rear. Who knows....I might use your idea and build the first one from PVC tubing! It's always cool to encounter a like-minded mechanical kindred spirit! Keep up the good work!

This is the most creative DIY kart ive ever seen .. As far as I can tell the only flaw is the flex in the frame ... It doesn't really seem that bad but I'm sure at 40 mph on grass out in the yard it wouldnt be long before it snaps in half ... Reason being if I or anyone else who does NOT have access to a school track or an open lot was to build this it would be driven on a rough terrain ... Especially here in Alabama where you almost have to have 4x4 just to drive down the interstate (ALABAMA ROADS SUCK !!! HAHA)

This is a great build and a great video. You have inspired me to start my build for my kids.
I am very interested in how you used EMT and PVC piping.
Do you only have emt inside the pipe on the long straights? How did you reinforce the corners?

pretty cool and clean build, using regular atv batteries seems like a good cheap route. but when i saw it does 36 i was excited but then realized it was kmh so probably 15 mph top speed which is pretty slow. great for kids though. be cool if you made a faster version in the future.
