Exhausted material? not quite. Try blending the peels afterwards (in water) and run the process again, you'll be amazed at how much essential oil you missed before. I pre-boil my peels just like you do to soften them (and get a little oil) and after letting them cool I use a plunge blender (after removing the grids) and basically boil the whole purée. That's when the BIG yield occurs. It takes a few days afterwards for the scent to stabilize (you get the orange fractions too).
i did the same recently, from 1kg of unblended peels i got 1ml of oil, after blending them and distilling again i got around 10ml of essential oil. definitely grind the peels xD
@@alfo3576 I think the softening of the peels as the hot water saturated the peel and rind, plus the pureeing to create larger surface area for contact with the steam distillation could lead to a better yield, but thats just my thoughts 👍
As a side note, Aromatic Water is not what your were separating the essential oil from. Aromatic Water is actually when you mix together distilled water with essential oil and an emulsifier. What your get through distillation is called a Hydrosol or Hydrolat. Floral Water is a diluted version of Hydrosol. People often incorrectly use these terms interchangeably
The main method for extracting Mandarine essential oil, as it is for other members of the genus Citrus, is certainly cold pressing. This is because the essence contained in the peel is sufficiently high, that it is enough to exert light pressure to break the cellular sacks containing the essential oil for it to come out. However this does not mean that Mandarine essential oil can’t also be obtained by steam distillation! Clearly the olfactory aspect of these two essential oils will be different, since the distillation using heat and the production of water vapor cannot help but allow the evaporation of the lighter and more volatile chemical molecules. While a cold mechanical process, such as squeezing, will also extract heavier and less volatile molecules, leading in part to a different chemical composition.
Hi good job amazing video. I wanna ask u please if there are any way to make natural nutmeg essential oil same way that u make mandarin oil? Thanks again
If the initial weight of the fresh plant is 3kg to produce 10 ml, what will be the final weight? Like it should increase due to the absorption of water or should it decrease due to the removal of oils off it?
I make mutipurpose cleaner with it. I have a 2.5 gallon glass container with a spigot. White vinegar and every citrus fruit rind I throw in there. I fill when needed. It works really well for most things. But it could be a lil better. Works good on windows and mirrors and decent on greasy surfaces.
I put my Mandarin peels in a blender and shred them to fine pieces before I put them in my distillery. The oil yield is much higher and goes a lot faster. A nightmare to clean though.
Great video, thank you! This distillation equipment is manufactured by your company or you buyed somewhere? Can you link here the manufacturer? Thank you!
The easier (less sophisticated) method is to grate the fresh orange peels. Mix it with just enough vodka in a mason jar. Leave and shake the jar a couple times a day for 3 days. Strain the mixture and squeeze as much as possible the captured pulp captured in the fine strainer. Leave the solution in open air. And the vodka evaporates. VOILA! You get fresh orange oil!
@@inherbaofficial I do the grating method and then I steam distill. I'm actually trying to find an easier way because of how long it takes to zest 5 lbs of citrus! I'm considering just peeling them and then putting them in the blender.
Why don't all of you guys tell this in the video, how much similar you have poured and how much water you have poured and how much time does it take, if you guys tell, the video would have been very good??

Sir what is the peel vat and water quantity
Well done sir. I have a small citrus orchard in my back yard and next season I will try this. Many thanks!

Wonderful. Music is very loud though... The ambient sound of your laboratory would be nicer...
Try adjusting the volume
There needs to be a breakdown of the set up. What pieces, how much, where to buy?

Can I blend up whole orange and freeze them to use in distiller to extract essential oil? If no, why?
Well explanation

How much quantity of Herbs or peel need to fill the still
How much cost for all the equipments?
This is high quality comes from italy approximately 500 dollars for the 12 liter version
can we blend the orange peel with water, first, later we extracted the oil from the mixture?
My problem is the amount of energy use to heat and the amount of H2O to cool the condencer or cooler...VS the price of the essential oil..
...interessante..dove si compra il distillatore???
Is this used for fragrance cologne or no?
Excellent process. Tq for sharing.
How much do we put from a liter of water in a kilogram of husks and how much do we extract at the end, thanks

Can you recycle the tape water which cools? So it be use ik the cooling proces again. Because that will make the project more green
do we need any recycling equipment or chiller for that if so can you recommand one please @@inherbaofficial
Could you freeze the peels while you build them up for a decent distillation? Or would that damage the end product?

Are you able or do you sell the distiller equipment??
Do you have to dry the peels first or can you distill it with its normal peel ?
Is there a way to do this with out this machine regardless of the extensive process
What are the measurements for this distillation? As in how many mandarins/ml?

Just buy a still air distiller and soak the orange peels , then strain the mix and collect a certain amount of distillate.
Would like to know where you purchase the beaker that has a tap separator please? Great video!!
