A lot of mainstream pop bands have backing bands that can tear it up too. Sometimes guys just need a steady paycheck for a while. I'm sure he'd rather play in six feet than some radio pop thing
Hey guys, playing bass I not just about keeping the rhythm in a band. No one ever said you couldn't be creative. Just listen to Victor Wooten's "Sometimes I Laugh", that is a perfect example of how to play the bass in a creative fashion!
A very talented player with a progressive feel and style. Seems like an ill fit for a band like SFU though. I don't know of many death metal bassists who two-hand tap all over a 7-string neck.
andsalomoni I think traditionally it would have the standard 6 with a low F# on the bottom. Nolly (periphery's old bassist) tuned his 6 strings high G to low F# to follow the tuning on 8 string guitars, pretty sure Daniel from Veil of Maya tunes his 7 string C to F# as well. I'm assuming the tuning he's using here is something else though since the higher strings obviously sound a bit too high, but the lower register also sounds pretty low and loose, almost percussive, maybe some system where the strings aren't in 4th
Jeff Hughell tunes his 7 strings with High C and F strings. He then tunes down 2 whole steps (G C F Bb Eb Ab Db) for Six Feet Under and most of his solo songs.
My Conklins are exactly that, low B to top F. I know another player who drops the top 2 a semi to B & E, there he has a standard guitar tuning with a bottom B.
I have a 4-strings Ibanez SR-750, but I don't care. The important thing is the music you play with it, not the gear or the virtuoso technique. By the way, you can play both hands tapping even on a 4-stringer, you just have to move up and down the fretboard a little more.
I greatly appreciate this guys talent but I am not digging six feet unders new direction here the past few albums. I just don't see them as a technical band. To each their own. Just not my taste... it doesn't fit to me.

When your lead guitarist quits
Improvise, adapt, overcome
Looks surprisingly sleek and ergonomic for 7 strings!
He must have a super easy time playing with six feet.
Dude that's what I was thinking he probably sleeps at their shows lmao

Right, after playing in bands like Brain Drill everything else must be a walk in the park
I came here to see why the bass player for SFU needed a custom 7 string bass, now I see why, lol

That Six Feet Under logo tho. I love him! Jeff Hughel and Jared Smith from ArchSpire are my favourite bassists.
I feel like he could play any final fantasy theme on that bass
Jeff Hughell, one of the best bassist I've listen to, super versatile and heavy!
Holy shit those low strings were loud as hell
Amazing!!! 🍻 real talent

Listen to tech death.
I've never seen a 7 though. 5 is usually common enough, 6 pushes it a bit but I haven't seen a 7 before.
The bassist from Obscura :)
because it sounds like shit
Jared Smith from Archspire taps like 50% of the time he's playing his 6-string Dingwall bass.
For when the rhythm guitarist brings a 9 string to make you quit so you replace the lead guitarist instead
That was insane.
Six Feet Under must be a good paycheck if this guy still play with them!
How is a 7-strings bass tuned? I suppose LowB-E-A-D-G-HighC-HighF, am I right?

Never under estimsate how much talent it takes to play real extended guitars over traditional ones
Sounds like video game music.
no, video game music sounds like this
Seems like this bass has an extra high string besides the usual extra lower strings. am I right on this?
1 high 2 low
@@Bedroomrips *1 low 2 high
@@TerminatorZXY you’re right. Don’t know why they’d do it that way tho
Damn man
Hey Seymour Duncan Pickups, are those blackouts in a 7-string format or something different? :)
+VioletSpaceship Those are Custom Shop, we actually do a lot of Custom bass pickups.

Wow! 🙌🏼
What is he playing? I assume it's a Six Feet Under song.
doesn't sound like SFU to me... or SFU has changed a lot lately :D
its chaos implosion, a song from his own project
Can Blu De Tiger ever do these techniques on bass?
Super!!!
What's the tuning?
Damn!!!!
When your guitarist is too hungover to record.

+Dan Higginson I think you guitarists need to know your place and stay out of the Bass Zone! LOL! :D

B to F
Holy shit. I feel bad for my little Corvette Standard 5, and for myself...

The intro sounds like the minor version of That's Amore
I think I could live without the 7th string-in favor of a little wider spacing...could make for some fun choral work tho'...
que garron que nadie mira esto

Mic panned to the right it hurts 🙈
А ну, давай, наяривай, гитара 7-струнная!..
