I went to a cabin in the woods by Lake Tahoe with a mandolin I never played. As a guitarist I caught on easily. I sat on the deck in the woods and started playing this odd guitar. I loveI the open tuning right away..And I could feel it in the woods soon after. I never played a mandolin before but strummed every cord perfectly, permeating the air surrounding myself and the trees, to where I could feel it, like an echo without walls. In that trance I happened to looked up to see birds on a branch just above me, quietly turning their heads to look and listening. I'll never, never forget that moment. The moment Nature was listening. The moment I played a mandolin for the first time perfectly in the woods.
I can hear and feel Tommy that you wrote this beautiful song from your heart and soul. Thank you for bringing the light and peace through it to me and many others. ☮️💚✨🙏🙏🙏💚☮️
I love that Tommy Shaw is making home made videos just like the rest of us hacks trying to show off. He doesn't even have someone to turn the camera on and off for him. Awesome!
i hope you don't mind, but i really want this played at my funeral. For the first time knowing how it's gonna end i felt some happiness and peace in my heart hearing this
*Wow*!! The problem with TS songs is every time I hear one, it's my new favorite. This has been a problem I've had for about 40 years! (I used to pray God would help me write songs like you. One can dream, I suppose. :-))
What an AWESOME song. Just in time for Easter week. So much more to Tommy Shaw I'm learning each time I watch and listen. Taylor guitar founder Bob Taylor's Wood & Steel mag just came out this month with Tommy on the cover and feature story if anyone out there interested.
Your voice is timeless. You sound as good as you were in Styx and Damn Yankees days. I have a special place for bluegrass. I love the key breaks. Such a perfect voice!
Well done...an old artist that turned a new leaf has just become a favourite! Well done Tommy....much better than the Styx day! Keep it going, keep the faith!
God I love this so much! It's sound is so incredibly Gypsy like. It just sounds so truly gypsy, like some of them up in the Alps. So incredibly beautiful!
I had to watch this video again... Today is the 9th anniversary of my Dad's death (5/11/02) and this song puts the situation in perspective. Thank you, Tommy and Will... :)
Tommy I have loved this song from the first moment I heard it! Great CD start to finish. Particularly love this and The Great Divide (song). Thanks for making this and sharing.
Tommy, Is there ANYTHING you can't sing? I can't think of another Rock / Pop legend who is so awesome to their fans and shares like you do. STYX has always been a favorite band, your Damn Yankees work was awesome; now this. I guess I'm buying another Bluegrass CD. Nice work.
Lord forgive me this pathetic, yet really deserved long forgotten (but probably secretly harbored ) celebrity crush. When I was 16, I first saw Tommy in Roanoke VA and Styx (Paradise Theater )Yes, Dennis could really sing, but Tommy on right stage was just so hypnotic and that handsome/cute that just slayed me. Just recently realized some crushes never die. Sing your songs, sing the top 40, sing Styx/DamnYsnkees..HelloMosesandMary..sing my PHONEBILL..just continue to BE.
Another Beauty Guys! Tommy if you're reading the comments: I'm also musician & vocalist and there's something I've wanted to ask you. Did anyone ever explain to you that the human vocal range & quality of tone does not expand or improve as we age? That's why I always enjoy listening to you, because you're the living proof that there is ALWAYS an exception to EVERY rule! :-) Hubby & I are loving this music, looking forward to the album w/Jack & seeing you in NY this fall with Styx. :-)
oh, now you made me cry - it's like that thing they say at church, to allow the heart to be shattered and broken, then rebuilt new by the Lord. well i got shattered and broken taken care of. this is absolutely beautiful. i love it! although i can't buy it on itunes in australia!!!
very spiritual and love to hear your voice on bluegrass. i too have been a BG musician most of my life who also loves to play and sing rock and blues. hit me up if you need a hot flatpicker. lol
He doesn't need that view from up there yet. I wish all the 69 year old men had half of the life in them as Tommy Shaw. Wouldn't us 60 year old women be happy.
ts Thanks. For all the stuff - and the great joy you bring and share with all of us mortals. Any chance of another Damn yankee project? The CYO thing? Effing magical. THANKS Love watching that with my son who is in band at school. Big Dave.

I'm quite sure my 102-year-old Grandma sang that just prior to her going to live with Jesus. Thank you, Tommy. What a wonderful song.

Oh God he's still got it...been in love with T.Shaw since I was 17 in 1979. You're still as awesome as ever Tommy!
Listening in 2018, Tommy you seem a beautiful, talented person. May He continue to bless you and yours. Beautiful song.
This song has given me comfort; I love this rendition!

time to make this one go viral....
Tommy didn't write this song. His Mother loved Blue Grass music. He did it for her. She was so tickled . She loved her youngest baby's talent.
I like it a lot, Tommy! Gimme more of that intimate treasures! ;-)
Tommy, do you ever age? Good day Sir!
I love your music💝💝💝💝💝💝💝😛💝😛😛💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝

Big Dave.
Eventually, nearly all great musical artists play folk/country music. Shaw is the best.
@arcangel777able Very true! :)
Wow Tom Petty sounds great
