I don’t think people realize what a bargain this kit is for $25. Great detail, Tamiya fit, weighted tires and lots of available schemes.

The Hasegawa kit is more modern than the Tamiya Ki.84 in 1/48 scale , throw in cockpitnand exterior Photo-etch , landing flaps etch and brass pitot tube. You have a superb model.

Chipping would never be on the Hinomaru. Painted daily per army and navy decree. The Hinomaru was the symbol of the emperor and was "pure" as he was considered a living god.
Even at the end of the war and supplies were low red paint was always a priority.

Love your model, I hope soon I have one too .

Very nice build indeed! I wouldn't chip the control surfaces (they were covered with fabric on the real ac) and the Hinomarus though... (ps: the music is also great!)

    Hi, nice build and video.
Question: is there particular reason why you using enamel for a detail painting when others are using acryl paints for that??
    Thanks.

Enamels are thinned with turpentine/mineral spirits and used as a wash. The turpentine doesn't react with the acrylic or lacquer paints. Very useful application.

Nice build! Only question I have is I see more and more models being built with the insignias painted on versus using the decals. What is the advantage of doing this?

Thank you for your comment. I feel that painting the insignias makes weathering easier and the finish more natural.
Decals are useful, but I think it is difficult to blend them in with the weathered fuselage because they hide the underlying surface.

@@zensmodelingstudio5034 Gotcha! I was just curious and that does seem like a better technique when it comes to weathering. I may have to give it a try sometime. 👍🙂

Good clean build! Just finished mine last month. What were your thoughts on the wheel grommets?

Thank you for your comment. I think the poly cap comes off easily, but other than that I had no complaints.

@@zensmodelingstudio5034 thanks, should of clarified the grommets used to hold the main landing gear in place. I found them a bit troublesome. I glued the struts in place with the grommets directly to the wheel well. End result was ok, I'm glad Hasegawa has since stopped.

are you using glue on your decals or is that a brush with water?
