a wire brushing of the visible threads and a good oiling before undoing will save the threads from stripping and the nuts will have to be replaced anyway, someone who worked on the running gear before was safety conscious fitting split pins as well as nyloc nuts.
A wee blowtorch would do the world of good, to help get they rusty nuts loosened up. You done well so far considering you are using an adjustable spanner. Should be careful cause you can round they nuts with that thing.
Ha, ha, cutting the springs to get them out, never thought of that. Have you got a balljoint removal tool? The cortina club had some balljoint and spring tools remade a while ago, excellent prices, and don't go for KYB standard shocks they are awful, believe me I've had two goes with them but removed them soon after as the shocks where shockingly shite, I have Monroe shocks on now and are lovely,
Yes not sure that was a sensible thing to do. For the other shock, I now have the compressor tool but it’s a 3 part exterior fixing. Not sure it will actually fit around the surrounding area. I guess I’ll compress it and then remove the housing
Well done, I’m sure you will get there, just small steps at a time so you don’t sicken yourself Shelly.🔧
Thank you. Yep you have to fight against it taking over your life lol

Yes, i notices most nuts have those split pins. So are these still used on modern vehicles and restos?

I really do need to get down to the motor factors and buy some more spanners lol!
