@Sliyjay Serral, up until his mandatory military service, destroyed everyone, even clem. Maru's control just isn't the same. And tbh, I feel bad for the guy, considering his prime was happening right after the match fixing scandal that essentially killed the SC2 competitive scene in South Korea. Same with Byun. There's no young Koreans playing sc2 anymore, the mechanical skill necessary to be competitive isn't linear with the payout. Most just play league or something. This has hindered maru and other Koreans already established in the sport. Remember the clan houses in Korea? Those things are gone now. TL:DR He's gotten older and with lack of younger competitors in his home country has reduced his quality of practice and in all likelihood, his competitive spirit. During his prime, he was the best player in the world and easily the best Terran.
@@Pallehz yeah I’m sure there’s some understanding. I still cheer for him every time he plays, he was my favorite Terran player for a while even more than Clem. He also had a different game style, Terran was more defensive a few years ago but no so much anymore. If you sit and let Zerg build uncontested, they will overwhelm which is why Clem does so well. He’s super active on the map
@@Sliyjay ik, he wasn't my favorite player ever, ByuN was for me but his wrists betrayed him. It's so crazy watching ByuNs prime compared to what he is now. The man's micro is still unmatched. The SC2 competitive scene just isn't the same now that South Korea abandoned the game tho. I think Serral would still be a great foreign player but I'm not sure he'd be the undisputed best if newer Korean players picked up the game. I think prime ByuN would be a bad match for Serral.
Serral is legit like 17-1 in maps against Maru over their last 6 series and y'all fanboys still act like it's close lmao. 49-20 in maps and 18-4 in series against Maru all time. Keep making excuses
Attack turtle terrans from multiple angles is a huge problem because you can't effectively split your army to cover all fronts. Once that happened it was GG.
This is not proof that Terran needs no nerf. It's only proof that Serral outplayed his opponent, and in my opinion is the better player. When you start applying balance logic based on the top 0.01% of players, everyone else suffers.
@@Nessolfte if you want to apply balance fixes to the entire ladder, Terran has roughly 20% lower average MMR. So you’d have to buff Terran to the point where B tier Terran players like Ryung were beating Serral. (Ryung is great, but he’s no where near GOAT status). Balance fixes literally are only aimed at the top players in the world.

At this point I feel sad for Maru, this is as predictable as me playing against Serral... Clem showed the correct way to play this race which is completely broken, Maru just doesn't have the skills to do so.
Maru can definitely play that way, but he's must adapt to that high octane, aggressive, momentum style that clem uses to put a dent in the goats (serral) shiny armor. The passive/macro approach has it's limits.
