    I picked up my mora highq robust after seeing Mitch praise it in one of his videos, and its hands down the best knife I have ever owned. Thanks Mitch, I'd have missed out on an amazing tool if not for you!

    Mora HighQ carbon was my first "Bushcraft" knife. Ordered way back from Native Survival. Still one of my favorite knives. Still have it and the old school pack.

    The first time I watch your channel (years ago) you were carrying a High Q robust and made the best feather stick I had ever seen. It was before you got your jacklore.

    Hey Mitch if those sheaths give you any problems holding your knife tight like mine have, try boiling in water for about 3-5 minutes at high boil than put them in a cold wet towel while applying slight pressure. My new Pro C 511 was really loose and that made it click in nice and crisp, its an awesome trick.

    Hi, how you doing Mitch? My name is Gregory and I just recently subscribed to your channel while I was doing some research. I'm going to be walking across America from my home here in Virginia. So needless to say, I've been looking for helpful information of how to survive in the wilderness with as little gear as possible. Your channel has been the biggest help by far than any others. So really this is just a thank you for the bevy of information you have provided. Just through your videos you have taught me a tremendous amount. Keep making this great content.

    I never plugged the plug on the HQ... about the time I was really interested in the Mora Line, he Bushcraft series came out, I went directly for it. Thanks for this tribute video... I probably shouldn't have watched it... but thank you, all the same.

    Mora's are great knives, one of man's best friends. I bought a military green carbon steel Companion a few years ago and it will do anything I could ever want it to. The only limitation is the blade length. Extremely sharp and easy to get sharp and so light weight and weatherproof. I think it was 9.99 plus postage? I need to get a few more, really.

    I use mine almost daily. I found this knife from your past video on feather sticks from quite a while ago. I got the red pommel. I absolutely love it. I looked it up a year after I got it on eBay and I only found 1. It cost $110. I haven't looked since. I want a ss too.

  • @aHigherPower

    I took your advice from your past video, and I bought two if them. Glad I did, they are hands down my favorite carving knives. The blade shape, blade thickness it perfect for fine wood work. Carved my first spoons with it, check out my vids. It's a shame Mora dropped them from the line. I've been corresponding with Mora trying to get them to make a nice full tang version of it. I was hopping for the Garberg to be more designed blade shape like the HQ Robust. I'm still waiting for my Sigmora by Sigma 3 to fill that gap.

    Hey Mitch , Hope all is well . Yeah ! I hate it when a company has a good thing going . And they discontinue it . I know they have come up with more advanced products . And yes maybe sells have fallen off on these knives too . But still I would make them a limited addition knives you could still get. But at a higher price . To make it worth there while to keep selling them. Thanks for the update .

    There isn't any wonder why the Moras have stayed so popular. They are top notch in affordable quality blades. Lots of people talk crap about the handle and sheath but I've never seen one fail without serious intentional abuse. Mitch your still the feather stick King. Lol! Hang tough.

  • @sackett68
    @sackett68 8 лет назад +1

    If im remember right the HighQ was made to replace the 510 that they discontinued (later they brought it back) so maybe try the new 510 or 511 i think the blade size and angle are the same. I have the HighQs and the 510 but i dont want to dig them out to look lol. But i think the blades are the same or pretty close.

    • @flashdamingo
      @flashdamingo 8 лет назад

      Wasn't the 510 the one with the differential heat treat .pretty sure I have one branded Frost's from before they amalgamated into morakniv...

    • @sackett68
      @sackett68 8 лет назад

      No that was a different model that had the different heat treatment and i have one but i cant remember the model number....

      But it is s frosts version or KJ erickson version like you said before they became Morakniv

    • @flashdamingo
      @flashdamingo 8 лет назад

      +sackett68 Your right .....Im thinking of Frost's Triflex..yep that was the one !
      That whole handle style has been rendered obsolete....
      Also the Miki and the Mora 2000....

    Carbon steel is by far my favorite knife material. If it's HQ, It literally self sharpens as you curl a feather like this. Maintenance is strict though. Must be kept oiled and never allowed to be left outside.

    • @Airik1111bibles
      @Airik1111bibles 7 лет назад

      James Ritchie I think he possibly means that some times feather sticking strops a scandi of its wire edge or imperfections from hand sharpening...??? I have a Gerber Strongarm that I was having a hard time with getting the bur off of, took out and feathered some sticks and presto nice and clean.....not sharper just straight LOL.

    Mora continues to upgrade its products, as any business will do. Some products are surpassed; then others are dropped from the line. Moraknivs continues to make quality knives in a range of prices. I have three, all different. Plus a pristine SP53. Check out Gullrica for how to pronounce it.

    So what is the upgrade blades to these discontinued Mora Brands ?

    • @olbaid84
      @olbaid84 8 лет назад +2

      Kanzee from comparing versions, looks like Companion line is the closest (HighQ Robust -> Companion HD, same dimensions; HighQ Allround -> Companion, slightly longer at 4" vs 3.75".)
      Other options are classic #1, and 510 at same dimensions, but different handles

    • @kan-zee
      @kan-zee 8 лет назад +1

      tamgc Thank you for your response..
      I bought a 20 set of Classic Mora's (wooden handled) a couple of years ago , followed by 30 more mora with the Ferro rods inside the handle..I guess its time to stock up on what's available ..like these companion Line. cheers

    • @olbaid84
      @olbaid84 8 лет назад +2

      Kanzee Anytime, this page has some good charts on what's available and the comparable dimensions/handle styles:
      www.ramblinjim.com/articles/mora-knife-models-explained-and-compared/
      From what I've seen, pretty much can't go wrong with any of the Moras, even stainless (they use sandvik, which to my understanding is created in such a way that you don't get the usual large carbide clusters which is the biggest effect on the steel structure/performance)
