Greg is really a monster playing that bass, very smooth sound !!
Great to hear Greg play again!
Great to see Greg ! Fantastic musician that he is. Love the expressions on the bass and his face.GO GREG!!
Tidings of joy and comfort to Norm and everyone here.🙏🏻
Where you been Greg! Awesome to see and hear you again!
Hello Greg, As always you do these bass's proud. I really like the way that you demonstrate these fine instruments. It has got to be so cool to be able to play all of those wonderful vintage bass's. Wouldn't be nice if they could talk & tell you there story's of there life. Oh well stay safe and well and keep Rocking. Signed John Gregory / Zepbass from Munster Indiana.
That sound/feel is so timeless.
Welcome back Greg. Great see you thumbing those basses. 👍🏻
Beyond words...... amazing that it's 65 year's old and still is as perfect as can be ....like they say.....simple is better.....
We love Greg. Top flight musician.
Thank God for Coates!!!
Actually the body contours happened on the Precision at the same time as the Stratocaster debuted in mid ‘54. Early 54’s were still plank bodied. 1956 was the year the Alder was starting to be used as the tone wood. That one is Ash which makes it an early ‘56. Cool piece no doubt and great playing bro!
good to see Greg back
Beautiful ash! Great playing and sound!
It's awesome that Greg is back doing his thing 👏 💯🎃
Wooohoooooo Thumpin Thursday with our boy Greg Coates
Nice to have Greg back again!!!
Fantastic bass! Looks goid, sounds great! Especially in the hands of Mr. Coates!
Thank you 🙏
Greg is kicking ass. Love the '56 P Bass.
Awesome Bass. Great playing.
Cool! It’s Greg!
Greg, nice work !!!!
Damn, almost as old as I am - I love it and want it!
what a beauty
Welcome back Greg. Super fat tone on that beauty.
Greg is fab
I like how Greg plays his Bass like a guitar; I dont play Bass, but watching Gregs style makes me wanna try.
Do you mean he plays his bass like a guitar referring to his sense of melody? Because as far as technique goes, he seems to be 100% bass player.
Nice job, Greg!
That is a lovely bass guitar
Sweet bass🤘🏼
Very cool to see Greg back and flying solo Think he could do Thumping Thursday solo and give Lemmo the day off Hope that what ever is going on with Michael's family turns out to be ok
these single coil p basses are not my cup of tea but i still smile every time i see one
Never hear of half wounds mentioned much these days, apparently they’re really comfortable to play.
Glad Thumpin' Thursday is back! Welcome back Greg!!
Sounds So Good Hi Jen
The Sting bass,,,,didn't Gordon leave this a bus stop and luckily, got it back ? long time...
fat Tele here. The Andy Summer look. Just a Tele i love.
Super !!!
So good to have Greg back!
WHAT!? A Vintage Fender!! Never before has such a unique instrument been shown to the world. WOW, truly a rare unheard of instrument. I'll admit it's cool to see an early P Bass like the '56...
That tone is my kind of tone
At some point someone put a more functional bridge on that bass, but it appears to have the stock bridge now.......I have a Sting bass that plays amazingly but the stock bridge would not stay in tune and would not allow the action to be set low enough.
Greg Coates my Ears
🥇👌
Great sounding bass. I see why Sting likes them so much. I think he has a 55 and a 57.
If Lemmo leaves this is the best guy to take it 😎
What do recommend for nice strings on a p bass
Depends upon what time you’re going for? I really like the “angry piano” sound of stainless steel, but it seems that most people gravitate towards nickel roundwounds or flat wounds-both have their defining characteristics.
TONE,not time*
@@gregcoates4281 thank you much for your information :0)
@@gregcoates4281 I understood 😎
I have a 5 string elite jazz bass
I have a 4 string Elite jazz bass
I didn't know that any pre-'57 models had contours. COOL. Flatwounds would be better in my opinion.
They did it from '54-'56 if I remember right. . .
Love a good P bass for the end of a week! Great work Greg! However! Gotta do a Maton!
Look forward to rockin’ a Maton!!!
Man, gave that p-bass a work out!
what's up with the high string? it looks like it's almost hanging off the fretboard, are my eyes playing tricks?
With those two barrel saddles sometimes the strings have a mind of their own, though it played great!
Why did Leo think a p bass needed more treble?🙃
FLAT-WOUNDS on these old basses-PLEASE‼‼
Sting used/uses Rotosound RS77 Flat-wounds on his.
What the Flock?
Put your weight on it!
He dont need no stinking Lemmo! Har
I looked it up...if we divided all US money evenly, we'd all get about $300,000. So, anyone with more than that is doing so at the cost of others living without.
Norm's Rare Guitars sells to greedy assholes who cause poverty.
bass bad, guitar good
😐
Genius comment...🙄
Thanks I thought so too
@@DatMetalBoi75 Guess sarcasm doesn't come across very well on the internet...Ugh.
@@mattrogers1946 gee I never would've guessed
I DIG THE OLD STYLE DOME KNOBS
THESE CAME WITH FLATWOUNDS &
WITH THESE LOW OUTPUT PICK UPS THIS OLD BASS SURE NEEDS A SET OF 'EM
THE LACK OF SUSTAIN IS EVIDENT
STILL, IT'S A GREAT OLD INSTRUMENT
NORM SURE HAS SOME COOL STUFF
PUT IN SOME FULL VALUE NOTES
