Here's an idea - why not enable all these settings in presets. For instance I can have mountain bike preset - maybe that's 4k wide all the usual settings including turning off connections, front screen, voice control, but leaving on GPS so I can add a real time speedometer to clip. Or another setting call "kitchen blog" where I set my video modes for an indoor kitchen blog but this one, aside from all the indoor settings I want, I add voice control because I'm recording with sticky fingers and the front camera because I want to make sure I don't have dough on my face. Allow us to not only include camera quality settings in our presets, but also power profile, so we can quickly and easily have max battery saver preset, and max quality preset.
This was such a helpful video. I just purchased my first GoPro and I consider myself a beginner when it comes to action cameras so this will come in so handy. Thanks so much!
Just got a Hero 10 and man the battery life was awful. My son shot a 12 min video and we took like 5 more video all around 2 to 3 mins and the battery went dead. These looks to be great tips. Battery is recharging now, I’m going to try it out and see how it works. Thx
I have tried voice control when mounting the GoPro on a gimbal and don't want to move the gimbal to hit the record start / stop. But as you say, it ain't Siri. I find I end up shouting several times for it to actually respond to the point where I can't be bothered with it anymore!
Was hoping to get some actual quantitative comparison numbers from these. So can I get 3 hours if I follow most of the suggestions and shoot in 2.7K or 1080p at 30 or 24fps?
Keep in mind, it depends on where you're shooting as well. Temperture plays a part as well, but in general these settings will definitely get you an extra bit of juice
I use voice control. It's particularly useful for night photos to avoid shaking the camera by pressing the shutter button. I prefer it to using a countdown timer, as you don't risk missing the shot.
Hey Jon, that’s a good use case but I still would use the timer. Long exposure stuff can be very hit and miss to nail the shot. Ironically enough I’m constantly shouting at Siri in my phone but just not a big fan of it on cameras
@@VicBarry I understand. Not everyone wants to shout at inanimate objects (especially those of us with kids, who can get the same experience trying to communicate with animate objects!). I find it useful, but not essential. In most cases I'd probably be better off using the remote, but that would require me to actually remember to take it out with me.
I use my GoPro filming my dogs during their tracking training. I have my hands full handling my dog, the line, the start article, etc, so voice control is a feature I really like. I have had some video stop in previous cameras when they heard something that sounded like "start" or "stop" but with the beeps set up I can hear it shut off and re-start it again without needing my hands.
VIC! Sorry only Off Topic today.... Is there any Chance to support you by getting the Epidemic Sounds free Trial (through your Link in the Description) or even beyond that? I desperately need some Music and Effects for my Channel and Client Work and want to support you max level 🤘🏻
Vic, I beat ya to the punch. Even on the 5k issue, which reserved primarily for family and very special situations. What I would like to see you do is common sense everyday QR code usage. GoPro lists a lot of the codes but don’t really show practical usage. I want practical usage. I’ve made some on my own like USB and speed initiated and ended. QR codes, could really expand the Heros out there! Hey, BTW, I discovered the perfect Hero and accessories carry case. DeWalt tool parts cases. All the little cubbies!
put it on 4k 60fps with 10bit on & after 2 minutes the camera stopped & said the sd card cant handle it yet it recorded for 2+ minutes & the footage is awesome! so then I find out I need to get a v60 or v90 micro sd card so that'll never happen again? So I take off the 10 bit for now & then the gopro 11 overheats..................................
I think if the card is not rated for your camera it will take more out of your camera and battery. Similar to breathing through a straw. I have had slr sony cameras that when using the wrong card was used we experienced data corruption and battery failures.
When kayaking or canoeing, voice control is perfect because the camera is usually mounted just out of reach.

Great tutorial it’s life saving outdoor for our GoPro trips
Very useful tips here, that helped a lot! Thanks!!!
Thanks Ivan. Glad they helped 🙏

I use voice control when I have multiple GoPro's recording for fishing videos
Hey Mark, ahhh. Cool. That’s a really good use case 🔥
Thank you 🙏
Thanks man imma get out there now and Moto vlog!!!
How long you record with these settings 1 hour?

Hey there. Yep. I know it had its uses somewhere 😂 but I don’t see the point.
Very nice sharing

I always shoot in 2.7K, and I find that it is more than sufficient for my RUclips videos. It also takes up much less space on the memory card.
What fps

Thanks so much :) If you use the link in the description and use either trial (the commercial is best for client work) that would be AMAZING!
Nice tips bro...
Thanks

@@PhatBoyiee ended up getting a delkin devices V90 sd card that reads & writes @300.............all is peachy
I use it when camera is mounted away from me.
I had all these great ideas tacked on and the battery is still shit!!!
Nice 🤝😎
Do not shoot 5k .. then I better buy cheaper camera save money and battery.
I use my GoPro to film my deliveries for Amazon so voice control is necessary while driving 😅
That’s interesting. Never heard of anything doing that. That way no one can lie on you
