Been watching your videos and I have a budget of 1,500 to 2,000$ CAD. I was planning on buying the lattego 5400 (mainly a latte, cappuccino and regular coffee drinker) but watching the other videos, I'm not sure anymore. Which one would you recommend? Thanks for you help :)
Thank You for your Review, it was actually a really good one. I recently purchased a Delonghi Magnifica Evo and I have to say I’m very impressed and satisfied with the product . It’s my first one from them. 🎩
You helped us make our decision after months of bantering back and forth. Absolutely in love with this machine and the coffee that we can get from it. Formerly a Gaggia owner, and this is so "simply" wonderful!
I have this model. Ive used these machines for years, and know a lot about the features of a lot of models. When I purchased this one {EVO with milk despensor} I found that it is everything I could ever asked for. It is very well made, and coffee and frother works great! I would buy it again, anytime.
Followed the video to learn how to work it. I used to have a Delonghi but a different version. Made my first cup following the instructions on the video and it was perfection! Thank you
The only way to do that is by selecting the grounded coffee instead of beans(and leave the compartment empty) and then press the my latte. This way it will only give you the milk because there is no grounded coffee 😁
Nice machine I had got one because was on sale, but more noisy then the Prima Donna S and Magnifica s.I keep on 2 beans and med hot.Pucks always perfect.Grinder needs to be changed only when its working...its a Delonghi thing. Great video as always Tom.
Thanks for sharing! It's a little loud when turning the spindle to compress the puck, but the result is worth it over other superautomatics, in my opinion. Cheers!
@@TomsCoffeeCorner yes most def,you must try the Prima Donna its the absolute best. I use all with diff beans. The Dedica I dont use much now too much hassle with grinding and all.
Great video. You were the reason I purchased this particular machine. I love the way my drinks all come out. I've only had it about 2 weeks and started having an issue with the sensor for the the milk drinks, though. I have to trick it by placing something white between the sensor and the milk container (per Delonghi Customer Svc). It's fine for the 2 standard milk drinks, but it becomes an issue with the My Latte drink.
@@TomsCoffeeCorneraccording to delonghi “it’s not a defective machine” and if I exchange the machine, it is likely to happen with the replacement. . .but technically it is defective. I clean the machine every day, if you aren’t careful and do not remove the “white” fakeout, it will produce steam and someone can get burned if not careful. I’ve been doing some comparison with the Phillips superautomatic machine, but I really do love the delonghi.
Just purchased it 😊 and I’m glad that you liked it 😂 I’m busy with the set up. My first coffee will be for tomorrow morning 😍 The only thing I would say is that it would have been good to have a milk only option for when my son wants to have a hot cocoa (but he can still use the microwave 😜)
You can use the my latte option and be ready to remove it before the coffee comes.. I did that by mistake and was really nice fluffy cup of milk 😊 I know you will have espresso left but it's worth it 😊
I think i’ve just found a way around this after a bit of wasted coffee. Before pressing my latte change the coffee bean setting to decaf scoop (but don’t load any). Bingo, hot milk only. My 5yo seems to be getting just as much use out of the machine as we are!

This reminds me a lot of the Phillips 3200 lattego! A few months after they came out I got cousins to pitch in and buy one for our amazing cousins housewarming. It's well-loved and so easy to maintain but I haven't seen anything to compete with on the market until possibly this unit. I love those simple easy to clean milk carafes without any straws or crevices to have to struggle to clean that the Lattego series have.
I actually find that this machine outperforms the Philips LatteGo. The espresso is a fair bit more intense, and the milk foam a better consistency too. I was honestly surprised. But bear in mind that I am using very good Dinzler Il Gustoso coffee beans, which is important in the result.
@TomsCoffeeCorner understood, but from a bean to Cup machine, that lattego milk carafe is an Amazing piece of engineering for the fact it actually works whether it's producing high-quality latte foam or not. It functions so well, is ridiculously easy to clean and it's even top rack dishwasher safe. Now if it would actually make real (read good quality) espresso
@TomsCoffeeCorner A little too much bias, in my opinion. The LatteGo outperforms the DeLonghi on Amazon reviews. I'll probably get the 5500 LatteGo just to have the silent brew and iced coffee options.
@KRWWWLNG that makes sense. For ease of use in cleaning it's freaking amazing. It might not make the same quality microfiam milk as a couple other machines but those are all a reliant upon internal systems and a milk uptake tube you have to clean. My cousin has done absolutely no maintenance on her latte go 3200 in years. Massively neglecting it but using it daily and she has a roommate that also uses it
Seems like it's pretty awesome. I also like how they limit the choices the user has for types of drinks. I feel like having anymore drink options than what this machine has is pretty useless. The grinder sounds terrible though lol
This is a great review, thank you very much! It would also be great to see a review of the new Magnifica Plus machine. I can’t find a good review of it anywhere, but the new display, the number of drinks, the extra shot function and the larger milk container are attractive. I'm thinking between it and Evo.
Had a chat with the local delonghi office as I was asking the difference between some of their machines. Especially this eco and the 23.460 which is older but here about 200 euro cheaper. Same brew unit and same milk handling. Less fancy outside 😂. So will go probably for the 23.460
I bought it too but with ice coffee better model well delonghi is better choice over phillips models better quality of coffee better internal engine in my opinion from my research finger crossed let's hope it will be run for long time just waiting for the order
Great review! Thanks.. Also wanted to know if i can select coffee crema option with high heat setting like you used the my latte when in settings? Thanks a lot ❤
Thanks for this great review. I just had mine delivered today. The factory settings seem to be working great with my beans, however, I would like to see if I can further improve the quality of my espressos. Two questions you might be able to help with; 1. How can increasing the temperature effect the quality of the espresso? 2. Is there a way to purge hot water through the coffee nozzles before making a coffee to get the system warmed up to the point that it is at perfect temperature on my first espresso? Really appreciate any help you can provide.
Are you guys having good compact pucks on the Magnifica EVO? Mine isn't really able to produce compact pucks. I have the grind at 3 now, 2 or 1 are even worst. Should I try 4? Any feedback?
Hi. Thanks for the very helpful video. We just got this machine and noticed, as you showed in your video, how the machine always ejects some water when it's first started, like a pre-clean step. Is there any way to turn that feature off and on?
I still went with the Philips 5500 Lattego because it does more types of drinks. This model seem to only have five drinks: Espresso, Cappuccino, Latte Macchiato, Iced Coffee, and Coffee. I do like that it does iced coffee though but you didn't review that mode. Also you can store the frother in the fridge with the Delonghi.
many thanks for your comment i just buy this machine this weekend just can you please help me how i can do latte machiatto or flat white from this machine ? or any other coffe which we can create from this one ?
Hi. What would be your choice between Delonghi Magnifica evo and Philips EP3343 50? The price is the same (approx. €430). We drink more coffee with milk (cappuccino) and watching your video it seems to me that the Delonghi produces better foam and seems easier to use and clean. Thanks
Nice video Tom - as always. Regarding the dosing: I believe three bean button is more g than you might think. Looking at the pucks the grind is still quite coarse. I believe those automatic coffee machines alwways use something like pressurized basket to ensure consistent quality, no matter which beans you throw in. With this coarse grind, I believe the grinder is capable of grinding more. I might be wrong here, but just an idea!:) The only way to find out an approximation is to dry the pucks and weigh them xD
Just bought one of these and this saved a lot of head scratching, clarified a few things for me - Thanks :-) - Now, as I don't have particularly hard water do I bother with the water filter or not?
Hello Tom, I have been searching to buy one of the full automatic espresso machines. I like the features of the magnifica plus but it has only 15 bar pressure just like this magnifica evo. Should I go for rivelia or dinamica with 19 bar pressure or 15 bar pressure enough for you? Thank you
Thank you for this video, sir what do you recommend or what machine is the best? Philips lattego 5400 or Elleta? according to espresso extraction and milk foam? I’m so confused and I can’t decide which one is better 😅. Thank you
Hi! What grind setting on my separate grinder would you recommend to use for the separate pre ground chute? Fine, medium, coarse? I’m asking because we need to use for decaf too. So one for regular in bean hopper and decaf in the chute. Also, can the machine use any beans? Or only ones that aren’t oily.
I use dinamica plus. I heard that de longhi uses too much water for espresso- 40ml when classic espresso is about 25-30ml. Because of that, espresso can be a bit too watery. Am I right? What is the solution? Lowering espresso volume in settings( small coffe, or manual setting )?
You can set the Dinamica Plus to your own amount of beans and drink volume, using the "My Drink" feature. I have programmed one to be about 25ml. But yes, the pucks are also a bit smaller than a traditional espresso machine. I will be doing a video on the Dinamica Plus soon enough. Cheers!
@@TomsCoffeeCorner yes, i tried that but it is dificult to set a proper amount of coffe ml manualy. It would be easier if de longhi had ml settings in menu. I also tried to set max coffe aroma and small coffe from control panel. The espresso volume was about between 25 -30ml, so closer to real espresso. Do you think that jura makest much better espresso, closer to the "real" one than de longhi?
Hi, thank you very much for your review. I just wanted to ask you about the 2x button. What does that thing do? It makes two full extractions (ground, compact, and extract) so you can have two coffees?
I bought this one today and noticed that you did not have the water filter, which came with the unit, in the water container. When should I use that as other videos put the filter in but that may be only when they are using it for the first time. Love the video and any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Hi Tom, Your video review convinced me to get a Magnifica Evo, and I set it up yesterday. However, when I set the grind to 2, it clogs up the machine, and I've ended up wasting a lot of money on coffee that doesn't come out at all. Also, the tamper doesn't dispose of a puck, but more like regular grinds. What am I doing wrong?
This machine seems really impressive! You didn’t give much indication of quality of construction, does it seem like it will last? I’m currently using a Gaggia Brera. The Brera’s flat burr grinder limits you to beans on the lighter side of medium to light roasts. Can this machine reliably grind med-dark roasts?
Hi Tom, thank you for this video. Only about espresso and capuccino taste, how do you compare the results from this machine with the ECP3420 and the Dedica EC885?
Well, portafilter espresso machines are still better, but this does quite a good job for a superautomatic. Drinks will be less potent though, if you know what I mean.
Hi Tom great review. I have a question: ive set the temp at high, grinder setting just like yours and use freshly burned beans(vintage espresso) but my espresso still comes out sour. Do you have any tips or solutions to this problem?
Hi Tom, what is your take on the machine when comparing it with the Dinamica Plus. I am on a tight budget and want to have the better coffee espresso experience between the 2. Thank you for your support.
@@TomsCoffeeCorner Thank you for your inputs, my take on the Dinamica is also based on your review of the machine, and that is why it is in my choice list
Hi Tom - Thank you for your review and your channel. Can you tell me the precise version of this machine? There are a couple floating around with various drink options. Thank you!
Hi. Thank you so much for your video. I'm not sure if you're familiar with the EVO with the DESCALING option. Does that option also doubles as the temperature guage? TIA
I just bought a machine. After setting it up, coffee is leaking all into the grounds container and no coffee goes out in the glass from the nozzles. When i do rinse, water comes out from the nozzles normally. Any ideas if its faulty or something is wrong?
Hi Tom, i am in the market for a Superautomatic Coffee Machine, i am between th Gaggia Brera and and Delonghi Magnifica Evo. What are your opinion? Which from the two you would choose? Thank you!
Hi, Tom, what would you recommend from automatic coffee machines? My wife loves really good latte and I like black coffee. I can't really decide. I'm thinking about Delonghi, Philips or Saeco. Thank you!
Hello can you please help brought this machine but when it gives the coffee it comes very little like drips its not coming out like in the video soo annoyed with it is it normal does it have a setting for it ?
Hi Tom, I just found your channel in a timely fashion as I am planning on replacing my ageing Gaggias Brera. One question, did you try adjusting the espresso quantity below the default 40ml? Would be interested in knowing if that made much difference. Some cracking review videos on here, I'll be a regular viewer!
Hey Tom - Great video and very informative. What do you think of Lavazza or Borbone espresso beans to use with this machine? Will I get similar results that you did?
If you can get them somewhat freshly roasted, then yes, you can get good results. The beans I was using had a high robusta content, by the way. Cheers!
Thanks for the review! Amazing machine, I bought a Spinn but I don't find the crema consistent and dense, what do you think of the crema on this machine? Is it thick and consistent? Thanks!
Great video, seriously considering buying one. My preferred choice is a flat white or cortado though, would like to be able to decide on coffee/milk ratio, is this possible?
Does Automatic Espresso machine last? Or manual are more likely to last longer? I love this Automatic one and I can’t decide if buy this Automatic or The Specialista. Any thoughts??
I'd say they're about a horse a piece. Both need periodic maintenance, and the use of filtered water to reduce scale. The superautomatics need their puck ejection spindle greased now and then. Cheers!
Hi Tom, great review, very useful and good tips, thank you for that! I was looking for a Delonghi Dinamica & Dinamica Plus review though, as I am doubting between the Philips 5400 and the Delonghi Dinamica or Dinamica Plus but I don't see you have those anywhere. Any advise, please?
My English is not good but your pronunciation is so good that I understood every word. I also got answers to every question I had about the machine. Thank you very much. 🤍
Hi Tom, I just picked up one of these, as I was unboxing it, and it just felt cheap plastic to me. I understand it baee leve entry but it really felt cheap. Am I wrong? I have not seen many machines because I live in small town Canada so I rely heavily on online reviews. How would this compare to the Jura E4?
@@alreade8477 Believe it or not, Jura employs even more plastic. Even the drip tray covers on the Juras are plastic. The Delonghis also feel more solid to me than Philips, for what it’s worth.
Hi Tom, I am going to get the EVO since they are having great Black Friday deals. As usual, your review is awesome. Do you have any suggestions on getting the EVO with the latte crema system vs the EVO with the traditional manual milk frother? Just thinking I may get better milk froth with the traditional version even though you mentioned that the EVO auto crema system on this works really well. Any thoughts on this from your point of view? Thanks!
Hi Susan, I have not tried the one without, but if it's anything like their Dedica, where you can remove the panarello, zip tie the rubber spout on (so it doesn't fly off), and steam that way, then you can get very nice microfoam. Cheers!
Very knowledgeable man you are. Thanks for the videos! I love my coffee very hot, does it make it hot enough? Can I make latte and cortado with this machine right? How I can adjust this with my latte function? Thanks in advance!
Great review. I'm looking to get this for an office but people don't like small cups of coffee. How large was the regular coffee you made? It looked like a fairly decent sized cup of coffee. We have 12oz cups at work for guests for if it fills those I'd be very happy with that.
Tom what is your opinion regarding milk 🥛 frothing system , which of them will be more reliable in time , Delonghi or Phillips ? Appreciate for answer , all the best 🤝

Thank you
i am in the same boat as well. so close to pull the trigger on either Philips 5400 or Magnifica Evo, this model ECAM292.81.B
Eletta is better than Philips. So is the Dinamica. In fact, I find even the Magnifica Evo is better than the Philips 5400 LatteGo.
@@TomsCoffeeCorner what about the build quality of Evo compared to 5400? Are they comparable?
On my model, it just makes twice the volume, so instead of 30ml it makes 60ml, resulting in a more watery espresso.
Can these superautomatics make just a good cup of coffee, or are they only for espresso drinks?
Hi Tom! What do you think is better for cappuccino & lattes, the DeLonghi Magnifica Evo or the Nespresso Creatista?
Sorry, haven't tried the Creatista yet! But those capsules only have 5 grams of coffee, which is not enough for a proper cappuccino imho.
Can you also use it to make iced lattes? If not, which machine in this price range would you recommend?
Thanks for the video, do you recommed this one or Dynamica? I could not decide . Thanks again
The both do the same thing IMHO, and this one looks better. Cheers!
How does the x2 botton work? I know it's for two coffees, but does it grind twice or it just adds more water?
It just adds more water, right. So the drink becomes more watery...
I bought this one today and noticed that you did not have the water filter, which came with the unit, in the water container. When should I use that as other videos put the filter in but that may be only when they are using it for the first time. Love the video and any help would be appreciated. Thanks
I bought mine used, so it may have been discarded. Anyway, I always filter my water first with a Brita, before putting it in the machine. Cheers!
Is this or gaggia's magenta the better pick? I'm guessing they are both good machines.
Very good. But I would like to ask whether I can make milk froth only with coffee..
Not really. You'd need the Dinamica Plus for that. Sorry!
Best review I have ever seen
If you had to pick between the Magnifica Evo vs Start Espresso. Which one would you choose?
The Evo and Start are the same machine, just with a slightly different look. Cheers!
What is the roast degree on the beans? Lighter or darker?
Hi Tom, what is your take on the machine when comparing it with the Dinamica Plus. I am on a tight budget and want to have the better coffee espresso experience between the 2. Thank you for your support.
This is in my experience a little below the Dinamica for espresso and milk, but not by much. Certainly way better than any of the Philiips offerings.
Thank you!
This is the European version, without the iced drink option. You can see it here: amzn.to/3rZB5nc (affiliate link)
Thinking of buying this or dinamica plus. Given the price difference, is dinamica worth buying or Magnifica evo is good enough?
It depends on your market. For me it's just another 150 or so, so it's worth it.
Hi. Thank you so much for your video. I'm not sure if you're familiar with the EVO with the DESCALING option. Does that option also doubles as the temperature guage? TIA
Sorry but I don't think this machine has a temperature gauge. Cheers!
Great review Tom! What's your opinion between the Magnifica Evo and the Dinamica?
Well, they're both from Delonghi, so their inner workings are the same. It's just a different interface. I prefer the looks of the Magnifica.
I have been used both. I think Philips was good
I just bought a machine. After setting it up, coffee is leaking all into the grounds container and no coffee goes out in the glass from the nozzles. When i do rinse, water comes out from the nozzles normally. Any ideas if its faulty or something is wrong?
Can you give us an update please?
Hi Tom, i am in the market for a Superautomatic Coffee Machine, i am between th Gaggia Brera and and Delonghi Magnifica Evo.
What are your opinion? Which from the two you would choose?
Thank you!
Evo, fo' sho. Gaggia Brera afaik uses the Philips group, which makes only small pucks in my experience. Cheers!
Hi, Tom, what would you recommend from automatic coffee machines? My wife loves really good latte and I like black coffee. I can't really decide. I'm thinking about Delonghi, Philips or Saeco.
Thank you!
Of those, I like Delonghi the best. Jura is also a great machine. I'd recommend the Magnifica Evo, or maybe the Dinamica Plus.
Hello can you please help brought this machine but when it gives the coffee it comes very little like drips its not coming out like in the video soo annoyed with it is it normal does it have a setting for it ?
Just an FYI, holding down that descaling button for 5sec does NOT bring you to the settings menu.
Hi Stuart, well you can stop the brew early if you want, if that's what you mean. I do think 25-30ml would be better than the default. Cheers!
Hi Tom, Great Review. Did you test foaming with oat milk and how was the result?
Howdy! No, I don't think I did, but I can try that out in a future video.
Thanks!
Honestly I think the crema is quite good for a superautomatic. Just need to use good fresh beans.
Great video, seriously considering buying one. My preferred choice is a flat white or cortado though, would like to be able to decide on coffee/milk ratio, is this possible?
Sure, that's what the "MyLatte" is for. Just fill up the container as much as you want, and it will be emptied.
@@TomsCoffeeCorner thanks, another consideration though is that the flat white doesn’t use frothed milk? The normal delongi milk wands have 2 settings
The Dinamica will be similar to the Magnifica. I think both are better than the 5400.
My English is not good but your pronunciation is so good that I understood every word. I also got answers to every question I had about the machine. Thank you very much. 🤍
Awesome - thanks for the feedback!
How do you adjust the settings to make a bigger coffee? Our cappucions and my lattes are super small . Thanks
Cheers!
Don’t get this machine. It’s a pos
@@TomsCoffeeCornerthank you Tom!

Very knowledgeable man you are. Thanks for the videos!
I love my coffee very hot, does it make it hot enough? Can I make latte and cortado with this machine right? How I can adjust this with my latte function? Thanks in advance!
For me, it's hot enough. The MyLatte function just dispenses milk until the carafe is empty. Cheers!
Great review. I'm looking to get this for an office but people don't like small cups of coffee. How large was the regular coffee you made? It looked like a fairly decent sized cup of coffee. We have 12oz cups at work for guests for if it fills those I'd be very happy with that.
Hi there! I was using 300ml or 10 oz cups. Cheers!
Tom what is your opinion regarding milk 🥛 frothing system , which of them will be more reliable in time , Delonghi or Phillips ?
Appreciate for answer , all the best 🤝
Hard to say, as I have not used them for years and years. But I am guessing the quality is similar.
Hi Tom would you choose this over the electra? I'd really appreciate your opinion on this thanks
Do you mean Eletta?
Sorry for the typo, yes the eletta? @@TomsCoffeeCorner
great video Tom. I can not get my magnifica evo to make the crema. can you help me with this issue?

Hi Tom, would you recommend this machine over the Breville Bambino Plus? I am looking for an automatic machine with an automatic steam wand, so I think both machines are great but cannot determine which one! Welcome others' feedback too!
I'll be releasing a video tomorrow, comparing this machine to an automated espresso machine. Stay tuned! I myself would always opt for the espresso machine, but see what you think after the video tomorrow. Cheers!
Thank you alot for this impressive video
@@jana.samer8 You betcha!
What's the coffee quality of Delonghi Magnifica Evo vs. the Philips 4300. My experience is the Philips makes a weak intensity cup of coffee. Your opinion would be appreciated.
You are right. The Philips machines are quite a bit weaker, because their pucks are smaller. Cheers!
Great review! Thank you. Have you had a chance to check out the Bosch VeroCafe? It’s a $1600 machine, and I’m trying to figure out if the extra money is worth it when they do essentially the same thing from what I can tell?
Amazing Review! But wondering if you would know how to dispense froth milk only? They say click my latte button twice but doesn’t seem to work!
Just make sure your milk carafe is filled up, and inserted completely. It should work. But you have to abort before it tries pulling a shot. Cheers!
Is this the best machine (+-€500) for cappucinos? Looking for something with good Milk cream
