Somehow, and I am still really not sure how this happened, Mr Bill and Lady Caldwell-Holmes from the Fuel Power RUclips channel ( / @fuelpower ) and I ended up at Oakley Hall near Basingstoke on 29th September 2022 for the SMMT Drive Day South, where we got to drive and film a number of different cars from different manufacturers, having around just half an hour with each of them to film a review. Naturally, things took a bit of a shambolic turn, as they usually do on this channel...
The last car was the 2022 Kia Sportage 1.6 T-GDi Hybrid GT-Line S 2WD, the sister car to the Hyundai Tucson. Be prepared for a lot of power (again), lots of space, a solo effort for filming this time, some strange ambient noises and very little of any interest at all. Nothing untoward, then!

Great looking car, very Tucson inspired front end, Kia's Sportage seems to get better and better with every version. Colour also looks very nice and suits the car. Excellent Review as always Sir.

Yes, we did like the colour, sir! Glad to have tried one of these now, they feel big and powerful.

Beautiful colour very comfortable and luxurious looking seating and a very good drive line. Spendid interior.
The rear and the side profile look great but I am afraid that the Sportage's Cousin the Hyundai Tucson look must better, even though it has been on sale for almost a year already.
Thousands of Sportage owners cant be wrong.

They are very big sellers at the moment. Several live in the area, as well as plenty of the previous generation. The interior and amount of space are very positive aspects, still have yet to decide about the styling, I am afraid.

I had a look at one of these when I was looking at Plug in hybrids. I love the interior but not the outside, I also looked at the Hyundai Tucson. There I like the outside but not the interior.
One thing I have just noticed, using my Hubnut radar, there is no rear wiper. Or is it hiding up top like a Range Rover?
I thought they had dropped the D-word versions in favour of hybrid.

Yes, the rear wiper is hidden at the top, rather like a Range Rover Classic. The Tucson is indeed very similar (forbidden fuel option aside), so it all comes down to personal preference, really.

It does surprise me that they even made a forbidden fuel version considering the current situation.
Anyways this is not my type of car, but interesting all the same.

Yes, Hyundai's almost identical current generation Tucson has never had a forbidden fuel version.

Good Morning Sir, excellent car however, I am a fan of 4WD if available.

There certainly are 4WD versions of these available, sir, no problem at all there!

Ample tech and attractive interior ..its just that the car looks a little faceless with that front end treatment, with the rear end trying a little too hard.

I am still quite undecided about the looks of these. The interior and equipment are incredibly impressive, however, as you say.
