I've owned probably 20 LTD's and this one is by far my favorite. Picked one up 2 months ago and it's an incredible value. Tone is incredible, sustain is ridiculous, and the action can be dialed into perfection. Only thing I'd change is a satin neck. But it's beautiful!

$899 for a Korean guitar that's half the price of the Japanese model makes BOTH of them look like relative bargains... compared to, what, $3000 for a Les Paul these days? And the Japanese ESP will be better-made... volume knob placement is subjective, I guess, and I've seen players who use volume-roll swells a lot; Rabea Massaad, for one.

Try putting your guitar a bit higher and letting it rest in a position that’s similar to how a classical guitarist would sit with a guitar. I used to wear my guitars low, but it killed my wrists. Once I tried putting it higher on the strap and having the neck at a 45 degree angle, it saved so much stress and strain on my wrists.

I love the LTD is starting to put the Custom 5 in more models. I have the EC1000 Koa. The custom 5 is a chug & thrash monster.

I used to love the heck out of the older ESP and Edwards horizon 3 models with floyds and the other rounder headstock, it's cool that ESP have been adding these into the worldwide market LTD lineup.
This purple looks pretty nice too.

Just ordered this beauty from Thomann for 900 cad. Don’t think you can find a brand new deluxe series Ltd for anywhere near that cheap anywhere else.
Actually that positional annoyance of volume knob is on many ESP superstrat style gears, especially classic things like Horizon or M series.
I had to get used to that too.
I have the Japanese E-II version and it’s absolutely incredible. I’ve played the LTD at Sam Ash and there is an instantly noticeable difference in quality. Still a nice guitar because all the LTD 1000s are professional quality instruments.
This is what puts me off the latest deluxe version, $2000 dollars for a guitar made in Indonesia just doesnt feel like a good deal no matter how you look at it. Save up the extra 1000 and get an E-II made in Japan
About the tuners, before they used LTD tuners they used Sperzel.. Changed around 2006

Nightwish Guitarist Emppu Vuorinen is using the Custom 5 Trem Bucker in his Signature Models and on all records since Once Album. They have incredible productions and his guitar Sound is insane on DPP and Once. I own his signature guitar and this Pickups is amazing for all metal and rock stuff. Of course it is a Custom Shop guitar but hey the pickups are still an important parth of the guitar.
I just got the Purple MH1000NT. :) Check that one out if you get a chance!
As someone who Loves the ESP JP horzlizon III model, I am not a huge fan of that shape. The older models have a much slicker and thinner shape, that upper part of the body is just too much.
Bought h1001m, but the same issue with volume knob :( had to return it and look for something different. sad life. But sound and feel was great🥲

Great mix on the tune, though I see what you mean about the muddyness of the pickup in the mix. The single note riffs didn’t cut through as much, but the overall sound of where the instruments sat was well done.

Haha, glad I could help! The E-II one is no doubt a work of art (as all E-IIs generally are), but they're a little expensive for most people. LTD is generally the better deal :)
Sure is. I have two LTDs now (a Hybrid II and an MH-100QMNT), both Indonesian-made and I'd say they're both on par with every Korean LTD and Japanese E-II I've played. Haven't played any Japanese or USA ESPs yet, but I don't think I need to because I like the LTDs so much to begin with.

I looked it up and i was thinking of the old epiphone em1 and em2's
vol knobs too close to the bridge.... WHY do they keep doing this!?! It's so annoying, totally in the way of your playing. I have a Schecter Keith Merrow and the single vol knob is further down then the tone position and it is PERFECT! Wish more guitar manufacturers would do that. Awesome video!
Gimme a floyd option and it's mine. But it sits in my list for a couple years now.
Can you review the Jackson JS22 Monarkh?
Really like the H3 body shape, but feel ESP give it the wrong headstock. And since i don't really like the Custom 5 as well i'm looking into getting the MH 1000 or the H1001which has a Pegasus and Sentient. And since you like single cuts so much can you try out the Alex Skolnick or Neil Westfall ESP's? And i guess a guitar unrelated question is mandatory so.... Burgers or Hot Dogs?

That thing is fucking amazing. I love the LTD-1000 line and can't stop praising them enough as import models. I own an H-1007 and it freaking kills considering it's an MIK guitar.
I hated the custom 5 at first and now it’s literally my favourite bridge pickup. You really to have to EQ your setup different from most other pickups. Check out my channel and my Sunday’s with Ola riff challenge videos if you want to hear it in action!
Being a strat guy that volume nob would be perfect for me however I am also more of a guy for traditional shapes. Also dude I'm in the market for a traditional looking ish (strat tele paul sorta shape) metal chugging machine thing. Any recommendations

I had a cheaper ltd that was simalr to this ss body type but same finish bolt on neck and quilt maple veneer and ESP pickups
I have the ESP E-II version of that guitar. The volume pot placement is better, but it also came with the dreaded Duncan Custom 5. Ugh....what a terrible pickup. I ripped it out right away. I’m normally an EMG guy anyway, but I would have kept it stock if it came with a JB in the bridge. Who actually likes the Custom 5?
I got a limited edition 1 of 25 green Horizon-III models the first year the model was released and it's probably my favorite guitar or at the very least top 3. Great guitar

Personally prefer the H-II over the III, the top horn is a bit over the top for me. Have a Ltd 401-B and it's almost as nice to play as my Jackson USA Juggernaut. Sick video as usual though.
Good Demo! Yeah I agree with you those pickups aren't all that. Some people might like them though. The Jazz is alright I guess, but that Custom 5 is definitely one of the most generic sounding pickups. It's just so bland.
You could also not play with the guitar below your nuts while standing. Maybe that'll help with hitting knobs?
I stood up literally just to get 10K+ people at the circle game twice. The rest of the time with the guitar was spent sitting down and the volume knob was still a pain in the dick

I have an ESP LTD MH-250NT and the volume knob is in the same place - it is so annoying as I keep turning it down by accident!

Man ESP guitars are awesome, but the inlays on the 12th fret they have on the guitars I'm interested in turn me off big time.
These h3s body shape has been growing on me. I hated the shape at first but its got everything you need for a great metal guitar. I just never see them in shops where i live.

Haha, well it's listed on the website as a "Thin U" and feels the same as the others with the same spec listing. I agree, it's not as thin as like an Ibanez wizard, but it's still relatively thin, as far as necks come. I wouldn't describe it as "beefy", though. That's what I'd use to describe like a Wylde Audio or like a Epi Björn Gelotte, and this is no where close.
I have this but its the LTD Elite. Its my second favorite guitar behind my Esp Eclipse 2. I agree with the bridge pickup it doesn't do it for me. Gonna swap it out with something else. Maybe give the fishman fluence modern a go.....what you think Agufish?
Hey great review ! I own an LTD mh-401fr (and a F-250) wich is basically the same price as this horizon and I can tell you that if you want a high end guitar for a "cheap" price, LTD is the best way to go

i have this guitar in the E-II version and i Love It. but as you said its personal preference. it took a minute to win me over but it did and its probably the best guitar i have with 25.5 scale
Hello ,beautifull guitar for sure ,i love the finish ,but you right ,the volume pot too close of the bridge pickup , i have the same problem on all stratocaster ,I remove a volume, to have only 1 master volume and 1 master tone to release the location of the neck volume because when i play i turn off the volume ... i love the custom 5 pickup it's a polyvalent pickup with nice output ,but i prefere the custom custom from the same brand more punchy . thanks for the review ! (soory for my bad english i'm french ).
I love the shape of the guitar, I have honestly been waiting for this dhape to come to the LTD line. Though my issue in that I don’t like the style of bridge, its not very comfortable and I find it fairly difficult for myself to use. And that knob placement is terrible! I prefer them waay out of the way cause I pick fairly same way as you do

huge fan of ESP guitars and this shape is by far my favorite! ...just wish it had the headstock and overall aesthetic that they are using on the edwards models right now...just my opinion though. And yes, there really needs to be more purple guitars. I have a Jackson Soloist 7 string in transparent quilted purple and my god is it beautiful!
I dig the body shape a lot, I would prefer a Seymour Duncan Distortion (SH-6) at the bridge, and I hate it when the volume knob is that close to the bridge PU because I have the same picking technique with you.
