Judith Durham was one of those gifted singers who are so rare. I always thought how wonderful if she and Mary Travers sang a duet. Your gift of music continues on. RIP Judith.
The gifts of God bestowed on all mankind throughout history are myriad and wonderful. The Seekers and Judith Durham are truly one of the exceptional gifts. Glad to be alive in this day and age to witness it all!
Everyone agrees that Judith Durham has THE most stunningly beautiful voice they ever heard in their life, but she possesses a talent for singing that is also unequaled by anyone else. Whatever she decides to sing you can just guarantee that it will be so achingly beautiful that she can reduce a grown man to tears. Her rendition of this french song “Plaisir D’amour” is certainly no exception. Jason Dessing below calls her singing divine and he may be right!.
❤😂❤😂❤ how wonderful and touching everybody‘s heart and soul. Judith is a true and unique messenger and voice of love, peace and harmony. Thank you our lord for sending her to our planet.
Judith was a most rare person in this day & age, such purity of soul & heart, i had the privilege of seeing her twice on stage back in 2003 during her "Diamond Tour" celebrating her 60th year on earth, this show was beyond AMAZING!! she walked out onto the stage with such grace and sang all of her hits the same as she did some 40 years earlier, i had the even greater honour of meeting her after the last show I saw in Brighton and this is an experience I will always hold dear to my heart, Judith was 100% THE REAL DEAL! no, side, no heirs just the girl from next door and her vibe was something close to angelic no less, I was greatly saddened to hear of her passing but I understand it's the cycle of life and that her MASTERPIECES!! will be with us forever, I hope Judith is having a wonderful time and enjoying her rest with her husband Ron and I hope one sweet day we meet again 🙏💜🙏
I was about five years old when The Seekers released Georgy Girl, and I still enjoy listening to their music. Judy Durham is undeniably the best female singer in rock and roll music history.
Wasn't that amazing, how that happened, though? They just stepped off the boat and we all fell in love with them. Including me, despite becoming a lifelong Rock'nRoll etc fan.
I knew this melody from I don't know where or when. Incredible melody but Judith sent this song t the stratosphere. Of all she's done, this was her greatest moment to me.
There is no doubt Judith was one of the greatest female singers of all time, every song she sung she made her own, very much like Tony Bennett. RIP but you are there with us all the time.
After listening to this heavenly angel, Ms. Durham, with her equally heavenly, ethereal voice, I've been sitting here trying to imagine this coming from the putrid mouths of Slimey Cyrus and Un-Lady GAG-a. And in trying to imagine such an atrocity, I believe I just had a brain aneurysm! Judith, thank you for gracing this world with your grace, beauty, sweetness, feminine charm, and extraordinary voice!
Emmylou Harris does a nice version of this, too. I'm not a big fan of the singers to whom you allude--the style of their hits isn't to my taste--but both have done things a bit different from what made them famous, and they can actually sing. Music is a gift. It doesn't have to be one size fits all.
I've tried to remember the name of this song that I first hear 42 years ago. How wonderful to just now re-discover it. I need to finally learn French...
For much the same reason i love Mireille Mathieu. I don't have time to drag out a translation dictionary; but, then, beauty of voice and lady precludes any need for anything but appreciative ears and eyes
There have been many excellent singers present excellent performances of this lovely song, but Judith Durham brings something to the song that no one else does. The timbre of her voice, the accompaniment of the guys, the pacing ... all give Judith's performance an ethereal quality that can be neither equalled nor surpassed by others.
Hopefully I will remember to pick my wife up from work today; if I continue to watch these generously gifted videos of Judith (and The Seekers) I might be divorced before my 36th anniversary Tuesday. Thanks for the uploads
The lyrics are to the earliest I have found done by Joan Baez in 1965. I realize that the original French has very little in common with the English. What is apparent is the sense that a heartfelt true love never dies no matter how the relationship ends. At a couple of months short of 65 I can attest to that in the pain I have from a memory of my 17th yr. Her name was Irene and we had an afternoon to get to know each other while watching her young cousin. I've never seen her since and yet :(
After reading your comment I watched "The Heiress". Good movie. Plaisir d'amour was the romantic theme, played several times, and was actually sung by Monty Clift! Just a few bars. Thank you for the tip!
De todas las versiones de Plaisir D'amour, la de la Sra. Durham es la mejor, voz exquisita, trasmite la emocion y ademas ella hermosa, gracias por el video.
I'm 100% sure this was sung about the death of her husband. There is a feeling in Judith's voice in this version that is just not present in any other version (specially earlier) I have seen.
not quite the same. 'Plasir. d'Amour' was composed in the 18th century, copyright should have expired long ago. Someone (a trio) had the idea of imitating it and wrote 'Can't help falling in love' UB40's rendition of 'Cant help...' was as good as it could be. I love both songs equally.
Dan Esteviz Your comment brings a question to my mind, and that is why haven’t The Seekers been Knighted? Lady Durham sounds so appropriate, as does Sir Guy, Sir Potger and Sir Woodley. The Australians should have petitioned for this after their momentous 25th reunion, and even more today before we lose them!
@@fohpono8884 good question, being from America I dont know how those things work, I do know In Judith's biography that back in the 60s the Queen Mother considered the Seekers one of her favorite groups
An angel resided on this earthfor 79 years and brought us music and vocals we will never ever hear again
so true 🌺🌷🫶

Our Judith is not gone. She is with us forever forever!
...But now she's gone, like a dream that fades into dawn,
But her voice stays locked in our heartstrings...

This beautiful song always reminds me of my late father who passed away many, many years ago. He loved this song very, very much and so do I.
Yes a wonderful song by a special lady
Let's get a million views for this special lady

It's a beautiful song from an Angel 😇💖, RIP Ms. Durham
Beautiful 💖very beautiful 💖
Gasp! I forgot to breathe while listening to Ms. Durham.
Her rendition of Plaisir d"Amour is nothing less than divine!
Love the Seekers who burst on the English music scene back in the Sixties. Love this song too. Sadly fewer of us remain to appreciate and reminisce
You are correct, of course, but we love and appreciate intensely.

The melody was used by Elvis Presley for ' Can't help falling in love with you'.

One of the most beautiful recording!!! Extremely outstanding!
I'm in heaven listening to her angelic voice.
The voice of an angel from heaven
How true.
And now home. Yet another reason to look forward to the next life.

Pure class act. Never to be repeated I am afraid.

One of The Seekers best recordings. Love it. And the whole group too. And you mate for helping to keep this group on air now they’ve retired. Thanks.
Song was played throughout the 1977 movie March Or Die. Such a beautiful tune song by a beautiful lady. RIP Judith.
beautiful, just sit back, close your eyes and listen ......
What can you say absolutely beautifully sung by the best
Sad love song. The pleasures of love last but for a moment. I like French love songs.

what a wonderful song
What a voice...R.I.P.
A showstopper, yes. My mum loved to hear her sing this.
What a lady
Sings this with a wobble in her voice she's unbelievable gives so much pleasure tot so many
It's called vibrato, and she is a master at it.

A very different and marvelous rendition of the song done so well by Marianne Faithfull.

Very beautiful.
Thanks for the channel that resembles the whole story of Seekers.

Judith Durham, what a beautiful voice, so sad that she has passed away

If the Seekers were so good, how come we don't hear them on the radio or tv,, I think they were boring, especially Judith,
What the hell are those lyrics? The chorus is the only part correctly translated.
Yep, rather good isn't it , both Joan Baez and Nana Mouskouri have done equally fine versions i feel.
I've heard the Mary Hopkins and Joan Baez versions although very nice but, pale in comparison to Lady Durham
