@@jasonhutcherson6224 Really? Because very few people who sing this song can hit that particular note. The Glee Cast and Neil Patrick Harris tried and failed (it sounded like it was digitally added in), and even the judges from NBC's The Voice tried and failed when they... No. I'm not gonna say it. It's a TERRIBLE memory from almost 5 years ago.

Aerosmith is to me the best American rock band. I saw the the first time in 1973 where they opened before Robin Trower & Mott the Hoople. I had never heard of them before. I was hooked from the start. I saw them many, many times thru the 70’s. One of my favorite live bands. Steven Tyler (vocals) has such a great voice and he is constantly in motion. They are a must see live band. Enjoyed your very first reaction to them. It was much like mine. Shock & Awe!

I think you got the message perfectly - and, trust me, when you come back and listen to this song four or five decades from now, you'll feel even more emotional.
The first international rock tour concert I ever experienced with my friends was a gig by Aerosmith in Helsinki, Finland. Aerosmith are such a great and versatile band. No virtuosoes among their ranks, but they have published more virally catchy hits than you could cram into a week long rock festival. A fourstarload (=****load) of great music videos also. They've got a really nice funky groove going most ot the time - it's fun and well-made hard rock. There's a lot of adult subject matter, but you're probably headed that way anyway. When I heard them first time, they had made music for more than two decades already, so we knew we'd be showered with well known hits that night.
The overabundance of these 'powerballads', however, seemed to become a bit of a burden for their credibility during those years, imho. The long ballads became the industry standard for a long while, and were considered an effective way to push the album and single sales. Not many of those ballads compare favourably to 'Dream On', I reckon. But they certainly occupy lot of time when you insist on putting them into your live set. Two or three groovier rock songs could've been crammed into those precious minutes that any of those slow swimming whales took. But no. The commercial pressures often levy a heavy tax on the artists' long time credibility.
I love your videos so much, you are such sweet, smart ladies. I hope you seriously consider incorporating active musicianship into your lives - singing, playing, reading, writing, improvising. Please learn the joy of improvisation! Learn the basics of different instruments and practice rigorously the healthy techniques - but sometimes just switch instruments at a whim and start jamming coming up with riffs and building little compositions. These are the ways most of the guys you're reacting to started their stellar careers in rock'n'roll. Most of them were not particularly smart when it comes to sex and drugs though. If you concentrate on the music, you can try out ideas, and make playful experimentations and be sure to make all the possible 'mistakes' so you can start suppressing that ever present fear of errors! Open your minds to the arts of foreign cultures and the past centuries. I promise, giving your brain a regular dose of active music education also pushes you ahead with anything that has to do with languages or mathematics. You'll get badly hooked on _learning_ .
Finally, engaging all your elder family members to any degree of musicianship will stimulate their cognitive capabilities enormously, which will help them fight off those memory degrading deceases that currently plague the Western elderly population. Music is such a healthy hobby, and it will provide lifelong challenges for everyone.
Much love from Finland. Keep up the good work.

A friend explained to me that the inspiration for this song was Steven Tyler's vision and dream of Aerosmith's ultimate success at an early time when the band was ready to give up on themselves. It was Tyler's conviction that the band was destined for success. Rock bands attain success the same way that success is attained in any other life venture, by exercising the courage willing to risk failure and the willingness to persevere in the face of adversity. In other words, it's all about faith and virtue. The rest is history.

Thanks for posting this. I really enjoy you two and your reactions, your interpretations are usually close to accurate. There are things you won't get because you weren't alive at the time the music was created, so who could expect you to?
I have been a fan of Aerosmith since the 70's. I saw them in concert twice. The first time was one of the best concerts I've ever seen. The second was one of the worst. I've seen garage bands play better. Doesn't matter, I will always be a fan and this is one of my favorites. Some other tunes to check out from these guys: Back in the Saddle, Lightning' Strikes, Sweet Emotion, Magic Touch, Love in an Elevator, Eat the Rich, and Livin' on the Edge. They have many more great tunes, but these are my personal favorites, and I left out the most well known song on purpose, others will recommend it.

Five years later I first heard Bohemian Rhapsody, and I said to my dad that I wanted the 45(!) for Christmas. He said, "No, son. You don't want to get into that 'rock and roll' stuff." Then my sister started listening to country music so she gave me her old 8 track tapes, including Nazarath Hair Of The Dog and BOC Secret Treaties. Steven Tyler has said many times that the best Aerosmith song is “Seasons Of Wither” off their second album, 1974’s “Get Your Wings”. It would be a great song to react to next. Actually, most everything they did between their first album in 1973 until 1978 was incredible. For some reason, once they all quit doing insane amounts of deadly drugs in the mid-eighties, their music really went downhill fast. Not that anyone should feel they need to abuse drugs to make great music!

You can see Zeppelin influence.....soft to thunder....and Plants influence on Stephen Tyler. Jimmy Page played with them occasionally...and Stephen mentioned that Jimmy approached him about being his vocalist for a collaboration in the early nineties.....but Stephen wanted to stay with the very successful Aerosmith......When Zeppelin died, Aerosmith kinda scratched that itch.

An example of bands with instrumental intros and a great tune that follows. Genesis, Behind the Lines off Duke, 1980. Phil Collins liked it so much, he did his own version on his first solo album, Face Value. Would love to see you do either version, or both!

Great reaction and thanks for sharing. Aerosmith had another song very similar in the same time as this called 'Sweet Emotion' that I think you both will also enjoy. Then check out 'Walk this Way' :)

Hello Ladies! This is the more mellow side of Aerosmith, they are America's most hard rocking band of all time. the 70's was their best period. Walk This Way and Sweet Emotions are classic hard rock song's. Also their albums Toys In The Attic (1975) and Rocks (1976) are one of the greatest hard rock albums of all time. Check them out. Always like your reactions.

Driving home to Houston after ten days working offshore, the radio played this song followed by Heart "Magic Man', then Robin Trower's "Bridge of Sighs." What a trifecta. That was in '74 and I still remember that moment.
