Great game, played it a dozen times, with all endings. But to anyone who never played it, don't give up. I originally re-started 3 or 4 times before I got the hang of it and then was hooked. I still haven't done everything there is to do, not to mention all the dlc which I sort of blasted through, expecting them to release a new Fallout game every two years. LMAO what innocent times.

This. Starting last year I played through all of the Fallout games in order, for the first time. I had no nostalgia for them, and also no expectations as, even though I was aware of them, I didn't really pay attention to them and other RPG's. The only issue I had with New Vegas was (aside from just getting it to run at all on my new PC) was that it was a little cruder technically than Fallout 3 and the set up was different from the previous 3, but a few hours in I was really enraptured.

The reason places like the strip are so broken up with load screens isn't because of time at all. It's because they had a really outdated and limited game engine, that needed to run well on consoles. The game was *especially* hard to make function on the PS3. And remember, Obsidian had to learn how to even use the engine within the 18 month period. The strip was going to have a bunch more buildings, larger courtyards, more NPCs, and be one load zone. The issue was tech limitations meant loading 100 NPCs trying to all do their own schedules with flashy lights and tons of geometry would absolutely not function with the combination of software they were given, and hardware it would need to work on

It wasn't just stability and performance that suffered because of the tight development time.
There's entire questlines and locations (the Vegas Strip like you mentioned) that had to be trimmed down into what we got, that is nothing compared to what was in the developer's vision.
There was supposed to be a region dedicated entirely to the Legion that never made it into the game, supposed to let you see how life is under them like there is for the NCR.
I'd want a full remake, Mafia style, just for all that cut content that never made it in. So that one of the greatest RPGs could be presented in its fullest like it was meant to be from the start.

Playing a Beth game on PC without a mod is just blasphemy. The issue that a lot of newer players fall into the traps of trying to following these advanced mod lists with ridiculous amounts of mods that completely change the developers intent for the game and make it perform like shit because the engine was not designed for these intense visual mods, no matter how powerful your PC is. People get turned off from that and just want to experience the original game so don't mod at all. The middle ground is the Vanilla+/minimalist modding approach. NV is one of my more memorable experiences with games that don't have a black&white narrative. For instance, you do a quest to find out what's happening with some false transmissions from the Rangers. Deaths & other bad things are reported while nothing has actually happened. Eventually you track down the source and you are presented a really convincing case why it's done and you get to choose whether you want to stop it OR, maybe let them proceed doing that because they're just trying to take care of the NCR. (This just one quest of MANY with unexpected twists)
Vanilla is hopelessly bugged and crashes on me so often. The Viva new vegas mod guide is pretty much a must. I have had only one crash with that list over like 120h of gameplay.

About sprint story you mentioned earlier, it's weird for Bethesda at that time didn't think of adding a sprint feature for the game, even more so during Oblivion development when many games at that time already have sprinting mechanic especially with First Person Shooter games like Battlefield and Call of Duty, but this was a time where they tried to experimenting on how tabletop role-playing RPG work in a 3rd dimensional 1st dimensional work. Like, in Bethesda Fallout and Obsidian Fallout New Vegas, having high AGILITY increase your running speed, as is sprint in that kind of sense. Low AGILITY make you walk and run slow but also your firearms reloading speed. It's bizarre that until Fallout 4 they decided to introduced sprinting just because they no longer try to appeal the tabletop RPG mechanic when modding community can actually make it work without streamlining the game that much of it's core value being a role-playing game.

I don't think that's the case. See, Cyberpunk 2077 didn't just have a terrible launch, it also had a lot of troubled development, unfulfilled promises and straight up lies in it's promotional materials. CDPR actively lied about the game's state until it launched. A lot of people tend to only think about the awful bugs and performance issues, when it reality, it's far more than that.
As for Fallout: New Vegas... no, it didn't have lies and deceit surrounding it. It was simply a game with a team that had very little time to make it. They had to make do with what they had. F:NV is nowhere near the same as CP2077.
