- In this video, I attempt to beat the 2010 entry of the Fallout series, Fallout New Vegas! Fallout New Vegas is a game where you play as a character who recently recovers from being shot in the head, and you have to explore the wasteland to find the person that killed you and get your revenge. However, today we try and see if we can make it a story about forgiveness!

You really need to do this with Fallout 3. With how much of a heavy emphasis there is in on Christianity, the bible quote, attending a real church and donating, it is all there, Its possible without killing anyone I think as well.
Best done in Tale Of Two Wastelands so you can use the fatigue damage mechanics from New Vegas, otherwise Fallout 3 would be much harder than NV to play as a pacifist
There are a few mandatory kills, I think mainly the radroach in the tutorial and some super mutants at project purity

Fatigue damage from cattle prods, boxing gloves, and beanbag rounds can CC enemies without killing them. Some unarmed moves in VATS can also take down enemies without killing them.

It’s basically just a big wasp. Poison immunity perks make them negligible. Old world blues entirely neutered them.

25:13 You still need to crouch/sneak when using a Stealth Boy for you to actually benefit from it. All a Stealth Boy does is give you +100 Sneak and +75 Stealth Field, both of which do nothing if you're not actually trying to sneak.
I can't quite remember if I did, but I swear I picked the perk that made it so that running no longer negatively affected sneak.
@@TheReconJacob That doesn't cancel out needing to actually toggle sneak, it just means that moving quickly while sneaking won't increase enemy detection chance. It's one of the better perks in the game for stealth builds, and it does exactly what it says it does... but you still need to actually press the "Crouch/Sneak" button to use the stealth mechanics in the game.

Honestly I would say considering that the town of Goodsprings gives you their express permission and the materials to take what's in the abandoned schoolhouse it wouldn't be considered stealing. Which would be another way to obtain a stealth boy.
Theres a stealth boy at the start of the game, the school house is stated to be abandoned and was told that whats there is yours.

Modern English pronounces it See-Zer. And that's wrong, because Caesar is not an English word, and I don't even know how English speakers can think that a silent "a" makes any sense at all. Like how "Hsu" isn't pronounced who-sue, and the spelling of Asian names in English is not accurate to their pronunciation.

I had to read through further than I thought to find this comment, it was a great video but that bugged me so much!
I love the fact that the "I have no choice but to ste-reload an old save" part has the Megalovania bgm. It fits so perfectly.
This is probably one of the best roleplays I think I've seen, and it makes me want to attempt it myself. I don't know how I would have handled Mr. House because it just doesn't feel right to me to just simply leave him in his box. I feel as though that's a fate worse than death.
Only five minutes in but I realized that you start the game with a “promise” in play, a contract to deliver the chip to house. Can’t wait to see what ya do!
A little tip for you is if you have Boone as your companion he will act as a pass into Vegas through the subway, hope this helps!

Okay, the timing at 28:50 with the shots and music was freaking on point!
3:40 That's mainly with Serana in the Dawnguard DLC. You can potentially mention to her about your character's own parentage or allude to how your character's early life was like. One of those dialogue options would have your character pretty much indicate that they weren't on the best of terms with their parents, and I think even mention that they're dead, but Serana stops that part of the conversation before you could potentially divulge any more details.
Honestly, one of my favorite interactions because it lets you build, in some small way, your character's background.
You actually can mention them too in the "Escape Cidna Mine" quest in the Forsworn line
It's kind of weird to remember that my characters have parents that they didn't just manifest one day as tall people with goatees

Serana cut me off on that topic because she didn't want more trauma in an attempt to comprehend that my character's parents were cats.
You can also specifically mention in that dialogue that you miss your family greatly, which would honor them and work as a response
There's some debate about whether God allows for lies to save human life (i.e., Exodus chapter 1)
And killing that is done without malice, for the greater good (most of Joshua, King David's reign).

This challenge was so genuinely interesting that I gave it an attempt myself. It was a lot more fun than I expected. So much so, that I tried the same thing for all four major DLCs. It was really fun trying to find new solutions to what used to be simple problems. This challenge is awesome.
How on earth will you pull that off with the dead money dlc? I can't imagine a path to getting out of there without breaking several rules.

I feel like for the combat, even thought you are strictly forced to not *murder* you are not strictly forced to not fight back with you hands, a unarmed fatigue build would've helped if you ever wanted to defend yourself without killing them, it's self defense in the end.

@@PyroFTB Depends on the interpretation. Pro-gun people say yes. Anti-gun people say no. The passage is very vague. Personally, I would argue from the point that because the 6th commandment is "Thou shalt not murder" you are still allowed the right to self defense. Murder is a malicious criminal act. Self-defense is an act of self-preservation against hostile intents. But I'm not a biblical scholar. So, take my interpretation of things with a grain of salt. I prefer not to use religious avenues to justify such things anyways. I'm vehemently anti-abortion, but I'd never say "Well god says it's wrong to murder babies, so don't do it." I'd just say "It's fucking wrong to murder babies, I can't believe I have to explain this to an adult in the modern day."

Taking a god before Him may be difficult. I can't even think of any idols in the game; "Graven images" is vague enough taken as-worded in English that you could argue several things count and maybe you could just like draw a stickman with bulletholes and call it a day. I'm not sure there are even any chances to explicitly dishonour your father and mother. And adultery could actually require a bit of speedrunning strats to get to Gomorrah fast.

I like choosing ncr for this because it made me think about how I personally don't think choosing ncr is a good thing for the wasteland, but a majority of ncr troopers and such are trying to do the moral thing.

Arguably a perfect Yes Man ending is more moral because you're actually giving the suffering people of Mojave their best outcome. NCR ending definitely has the heartland extracting lots of resources for their own self gain.
mr house is the best moral option tbh if you actually listen to him he doesn't want the power of a dictator but of a CEO, he doesn't want to get rid of the NCR or legion, he doesn't want to outlaw or effect peoples beliefs or feelings and every single faction can stay at the end if you do the right missions the reason people think mr house is the bad option is because the only place with a GOV like what mr house wants is Singapore which the best way to put it is they isolated development to mostly be in the country and the style of development ect but the social aspect of mr house and Singapore is different he doesn't want to hurt and control people in the same ways the NCR or Legion does, like the only reason i agree is the citizens of the NCR are morally the closest but that's why i say mr house is the best option he doesn't want the NCR or Legion ruling the area he wants NCR citizens to be their and and he wants the people leaving Legion lands to come to New Vegas, and he would have the most support of freedom of religion, freedom of human choice the issue with the mr house choice is his long term plan might half to do with getting rid religion which id see him saying it holds back tech and advancements of humans.
like id say going with mr house but going with an ending form one of the DLCs would be the best but is not apart of this the best over all option In my opinion is mr houses ending with the lonesome road ending.

You can use the NCR monorail if you have a high enough rep with them. I don't know how you would get it without killing, but it is an option if anyone else tries this run
I did that recently just went on a legion murder
Also, I was able to buy NCR Armor from a guy in the airport. Don't remember where but it was actually much cheaper than a passport. Might not work for this, though, it might be seen as deception, but it's not like I said I was NCR.

These are so good. It’s such a specific, but also interesting challenge run. I myself sorta did this just for role playing reasons, though I still killed for self defense.
If you’re looking for more games to do this kind of run in, I think Cyberpunk 2077 would be an interesting one. I’m not sure if it would be possible, but I’m pretty sure you can get through the game without killing anyone at least.
"The Heist" is quite literally a mission you must do to proceed with the story, where you, aspriring merc, are trying to steal something from the mighty powerful Arasaka. My brother in Christ, that is thievery, I believe.

According to the wiki, that part doesn't occur until after you do the previous part where you bring Cass.

@@hedgehog3180 you can't fake it, Cass has to die to progress Van Graff's quest. Lying about it is a cut speech dialogue that's just restored back into the game via plenty of mods
@@TheReconJacob you can hand them over to law enforcement if you do Cass's quest, it doesn't result in her death and you don't have to kill the Van Graffs.

You are playing this run through as a person who knows the consequence of all the choices. A more interesting way to do this challenge would to either really effectively roll play as a character who is receiving all of this information for the first time or have a new player do this without consulting the wiki and trying to make the best decisions with the limited information they have.

I'm really surprised I never thought of this as a challenge run, since I grew up going to different churches, this is a great idea, could work for so many games, anyways I do think the don't covet commandment could be used in these games, and make it a little more challenging by not allowing yourself to loot enemy bodies, or take things from anyone's house or place, even if it's not stealing it, great job, got a sub from me!

The most interesting thing about this challenge is that in Christian theology, the commandments (and God's law more broadly) are there to show you its impossible to keep them and your need for salvation in the form of God himself (Jesus)
Even with foreknowledge of every conversation, questline and character it's still an almost impossible task to not break God's law. Life is messy, but grace is available to all who turn from their rebellion and follow Him.
By the way, you could've gotten onto the Strip using the monorail without stealing an NCR uniform. You don't need a uniform to ride it, the uniform just makes it so the guards won't become hostile if you walk through (and they'll become friendly again once you leave anyway)

these videos are a very welcome take on the challenge run formula ;3 hilarious thematically, intriguing mechanically, and with a charismatic host to boot.
I'm really happy that Challenge runs was able to make your channel relavent to the gaming community. I hope you do more challenge runs like this in the future. But, I'll check out your animations as well.
This is the most entertaining playthrough I've ever seen on new vegas.
I normally have a bone to pick with "beating new Vegas with "specific weapon"" style videos, mainly because the game can be beaten without killing anyone, which automatically makes the weapon in question viable. But this is a tricky and truly unique challenge that I must applaud you for.
