I just replaced a 29 year old Carrier gas-pack in my mothers house with a Trane gas-pack that looks just like this one.
The dormer unit had this exact scenario; thermostat wire run under the pad and the yard maintenance guy chewed up the wire. One rainy night before it was replaced, the old Carrier unit kept turning the heat on and off intermittently even though the thermostat was turned OFF. I determined the chewed up thermostat wire was the culprit because rain was dripping down the wire, shorting the heat wires.
When the new unit was installed, I explained that problem to the tech and he assured me hed reroute the thermostat wire so "it will never be able to get nicked again".
He came through, and I thanked him. Whoever installed that original thermostat wire gave no thought to potential damage. My new thermostat wire is in a protective conduit!
When I saw your video, it brought back bad memories!

Dang, sorry you had to go through all that. I've always been told a lot of issues can be prevented when the unit is initially installed. Obviously parts break but when the unit is installed properly units tend to do fine. In my opinion

Was condenser fan motor humming when you first walked back outside?

Nah the motor wasn't humming at all. Capacitor was fine too. Motor was warm but I chalked that up to the sun beating on it all day

Thermostat wire runs under the pad? Is any of it visible between pad and wall /unit and wall. If so just cut and put male to female spade connectors and re route to the board. If anything I said isn’t possible make Jacob fix it cause he thought there wasn’t any line voltage. Tell him I asked if he is still fat lol 😂

🤣🤣 nah I thought someone strapped it with zip ties to the whip but I pulled that up from the weeds but nothing was there. When I pulled on the wire the color coatings ripped off and I was touching bare copper but they all led under the pad. If I could've just spliced it in the meantime I would've for sure. And ironically, him and my boss have to go do that call tomorrow 😅

@@AB_HVAC Too funny 😁 he needs that hands experience with apply what he knows vs what he thought he knew. #stayfat

I’m no trying to be mean and I’m rooting for Jacob but he seems he just doesn’t understand. Hopefully one day it just clicks for him. Keep up the good work brother.

Trying to get him to understand. He's definitely got a good amount to learn but as he's made mess ups and had to correct himself (like if me or boss man go behind him) the more he's been having to figure stuff out without us physically there, the better.

Maybe teach him voltage drop test and he will understand a lot more.
