    If I had to give a guess, Wide shelling will be best for charged shells.
    Less overall shells means less time charging, and if the modifier is the same, it'll do big damage.
    And if I remember correctly, Wide has better Wyvernfire in Wilds. So you can do two quick salvos, into a combo into an empowered wyvernfire. Rinse and repeat.

      Yeah, that is my current speculation as well. The reason I was thinking that at least was that if the total damage from firing all rounds is the same regardless of type wide should win based on what you brought of up less charging time.
      They could also make it so each shell does the same amount of damage per type, I need some math to figure out where they would land on that one ;p
      Or they could of done the math themselves and made it so that shelling dps completely the same regardless of type.. which I think would be lame but we shall see.

      if wide gets 3 shells like normal gets 6 now, im hoping the partial charge for wide is 2 shells and not 1 before heavier recoil kicks in. if its just one shell then that could actually be devastating for wide charged shell gameplan cause thats a lot of time for just one 50% boosted shell

      Yeah, I can imagine it too because the shorter time.
      No sure about the mod. in Rise for example I remember they made it a bit lower than the others to compesate.

    remember that a full burst has you do a slam before that must be taken in consideration when comparing the damage with the new charged shells. Super hyped for Wilds and for gunlance to have finally it's time to shine.

    Anything that utilizes the Gunlance's shelling mechanic is fun by me. I could even put up with the Heat Gauge from X/Generations (they just needed to increase the damage numbers basically). Can't wait for the demo!!

    I really do hope the demo release date gets announced this week, but I also really hope it wont be a week long thing and then that's it
    Talking about Charged Shells specifically, I think it's interesting that they majorly buffed the range of Charged Shells and Wyverns Fire, it makes me very interested to see how the playstyles for each of the shelling types will play out

    I also like that long shelling has a more solid identity here, and its with wyrmstake. This is really cool because wyrmstake blast and cannon are currently just better on wide atm, and wide already has better standard shelling and arguably better charged shelling with the level difference. Separating it this way feels a lot more even

    Looking forward to trying out Gunlance in the demo soon. It'll be awhile before we can test the differences between all three charged shells, but it's gonna fun learning the new attack strings to go for optimal damage.

    Great stuff! I was bummed that WF didn't get a block this game, but this more than makes up for it. Charged shells and perfect blocks are going to make Gunlance an immovable force in Wilds.

    Hey! si te da chance podrías hacer un video pero de la ballesta pesada? ya con el beta del primero de Noviembre? Es que tu contenido es muy bueno y muy analítico, me encanta por que tu no buscas hacer espectáculo. Tu buscar hacer escuela y eso me parece valioso e importante.
    Desde 2009 e sido artillero en esta franquicia. Aunque, la lanza pistola es un arma cuerpo a cuerpo es inevitable sentir atracción por esta arma siendo artillero y pues me encantaría ver un análisis profundo de la ballesta pesada. gracias de antemano, por que no se si puedas satisfacer esta egoísta petición pero igualmente agradezco de antemano por que se que contenido de lanza pistola si que harás XD

      Tengo que tristemente rechazar la propuesta porque mi objetivo principal es hacer la gl el arma mas popular del juego, asi que esto va en contra de ello. No me gustaria mentirte dando esperanzas.

    I like that charge shell isn't an after thought now, but I wonder what long and wide will add to the table. The stun of wide would be good but what for normal in comparison ?
    It feels a bit too good in normal vs regular full burst ? 🤔 or is it because the reloads are so easy now it's double full burst combo wyvern stake and fire + charged whole clip whenever there only a little opening ?
    Anyway, will the voice get back ? With multiple texts at the bottoms it can be hard to read

      obviously we can never know till the game comes out,
      but based purely on what we are presented so far, regular fullburst will still be better than charged shelling after parry,
      i say parry cause realistically, we will be parrying a lot cause we have to reload and reloads have guard points that can be used to parry, so maybe charged shell here and there but then here comes the monster attacking and your shells are empty so you can take care of two issue with one parry
      fullburst is better because of how long it takes for fully charged shell. they are like almost 5 seconds or something, it's ridiculous, you ever spend 5 seconds trying to do something against a monster? shell shell wyrmstake comes out faster than that and we all know how that usually ends up in world 😂 not hating on them just saying realistically they will be situational because of their commitment time.
      but just looking at partially charged shells in the clip, they even take longer to act out of than a slam fullburst.
      using the parry fullburst will always be the best option unless you have a wyvernfire or course but that takes time too so discretion is important
      the advantage of charged is it can be done when ever you want and obviously no worries on hitzones. makes me think it will have a negative partbreak modifier cause these things will be tripping a lot if left unchecked. or maybe thats the gameplan to get trips so we can do out insanely long wyrmstake fullburst combos unbothered. i think partially charged is the way to go cause there seems to be a penalty to going to full, the gunlance starts overloading with energy and spends an extra second to overload before firing and then gives the hunter a heavier recoil, almost like a punishment for overcharging or something. might be a good rhythm to party charging shells then quick reload or do a running sweep if the monster flinches from it for a safe wyrmstake
      it's hard to speculate on wide and long until we see how their base damage is. if they all have the same modifiers, then normal will be the weakest charged shelling option both because it takes longer to load each shell and each shells damage is worse. if we used long and wides lv2 shelling numbers from world to compare since normal In demo is lv2 before getting hh buffs, then wide can do (assuming it has 3 shells) the exact same damage as normal full charged but loading 3 less shells. charged will definitely be amazing for all three shelling types unless they give wide a bad modifier like it has for fullbursting 😫 while not the best option for gunlance as a whole they will probably be just as viable spamming them partially charged all the time even if its not the nest option, probably what many will gravitate to like shell shell ec in sunbreak, not the best but works just fine and is easy to grasp. i think we should expect to see something else surprise us like element shelling and how that is thrown into the mix for charged shelling. thegame cant come out soon enough 😅

      ​@@petercottantail7850the heavy recoil knock back looks significant enough to think of it as a sort of janky fade slash. In one of the clips they used the full charge on the monsters side and threw themselves backwards away from an attack, so there will at least be some utility in an attack that auto repositions you backwards

    Long Charged spam in IB is unironically my favorite Gunlance, so I have high hopes for the new Charged being its own playstyle, can`t wait to try it out.

    Its gunna take a little getting used to considering how much I used GL in World, but I absolutely love the buffs it got. More mobile and less tedious to get into the high-damage attacks

    can you confirm if the partial charged shell you did in the demo was buffered? im curious if we can partially charge more or less before getting the extra long recoil by over charging the whole clip

    I hope that you can pick shelling type on the gunlances now instead of RNGing whether or not the weapon you like has the shelling you want.

    Are there any perfect guard to full charged shells tech?

      No as far I'm aware, barely did any charged shelling.
      But you can follow up a perfect guard with a fast wyvern fire, so is the perfect option for shelling heavy since you recharge it by charged shells.

    This is BS charge shell should be able to block this since the hunter hidding behind a shield i hope this will be fixed in the demo OR release of the game.

      i agree, visually the shield is there and it would replicate riot shields with weapon holsters on the side, but i will gladly trade that off for these charged shells to be as op as they are looking, this will be free trips for days with that large amount of true damage on limbs. sadly it will probably be too good to be true and we will be left with neither

      This is what happens when you have casuals on the dev team instead of individual specialists for each weapon, they don’t understand the utility of the moveset fully. Maybe they can invite the 14 “best” weapon specialists in the world and tweak the weapons based on their feedback post game launch. I feel the same BS as a charge blade main that we can’t SAED off the bat anymore

      I agree, it gives some extra utility to firing shells. I don't remember if wyvern fire still allows you to guard either like it did in Rise.

    I love how all shot types will beneficios from the entire Gunlance kit in Wilds. I hope we a guard point forn charged shelling, as your hunter is literally guarding while charging the shot. I also hope for a demo announcement.
