    What really put this whole "taboo" of the Hololive girls collabing with Holostars, or any male streamer for that matter, into perspective is when Bae had to address her collabing with the Tempus guys like she was talking to a bunch of kids. Like, how bad is it when a streamer has to talk like that over a potential collab? But I also saw what started the Rushia drama, so I guess I can't be all that surprised.

      Most fans aren't nuts like that and the majority seemed to defend both Kronii and Rushia in this situation. Rushia got it extra rough because part of her gimmic was offering viewers a girlfriend experience which drew in a lot more crazies to her channel. Kronii doesn't do that so the difference between the number of sane and lunatic fans is bigger in favour of the sane ones. But the crazies are loud and aggressive and I think often attract antis who end up bolstering their numbers in order to mess with the vtubers

    I appreciate the even-handed tone you take in this video, but you're leaving out key context regarding the backlash against Mori, most of which can be found in videos you used as footage here and should have mentioned, at least in passing.
    - Backlash against Mori did NOT start with Connor's out-of-context comments on Hololive in 2021; it started with her first appearance on Trash Taste in 2020. Just like with Kronii, a handful of fans were upset just because she collab'd with men, and spent the next 2 years looking for every opportunity they could find to criticize her for "cucking" her fans. This is why Connor's comments on Hololive got taken out of context and spread around in the first place - the people doing it were the same ones who had been spreading rumors about her dating Connor since 2020. This was just the first time they managed to trick enough other fans into believing them.
    - The disrespectful superchats were NOT caused by Mori gifting subs to Connor; Mori gifted subs to him as a response to a disrespectful superchat. As she said in the "condom money" stream, Mori had been getting hostile superchats from people spreading rumors about her colleagues, some of which were about other Hololive members and some of which were the above misinformation about Connor. She wasn't comfortable profiting off of a donation meant to attack someone, so she started a policy of redirecting those donations to whoever the person targeted.
    - Mori did NOT call her fans cucks in her reply to the picture, she was making fun of the original poster in retaliation for him insulting her fans. Your video included the image, but left out the text of Mori sarcastically giving art critique and mocking the drawing's poor quality. This was still a bad idea, as many Redditors pointed out, but you should have criticized Mori for what she actually did instead of the exact opposite.

    • @Keniisu
      @Keniisu  2 года назад +20

      Thanks for adding additional context.
      While I did follow the drama during the time it happened, I went back and mainly based the sequence of events on the source linked in the description of the video. Unfortunately, this didn't mention the first instance of backlash regarding her initial Trash Taste appearance (possibly due to it not being as widespread, but it should still be noted).
      In regard to your last point, I think you may have misinterpreted my statement in the video. I was stating that Mori Calliope responded to the picture, which could be interpreted as essentially calling her fans 'cucks'. Not her saying that, but the image in which she complimented implying that. I probably could've been more clear with that by including the response she gave exactly to the picture in question. I'll work to be more thorough in the future when covering these events.

    I find it interesting how the two most popular HolostarsJP members approach the matter in completely opposite manner. Roberu DOES NOT use Twitter outside of work purposes. He doesn't even want to interact with fans outside of streaming or event environments. There's a very clear boundary that he has established with fans. And yet, instead of alienating his fans, they're among the more supportive fans in Holo. Roberu and Kagura Mea are probably among the most popular Vtuber ships in the JP scene. They're shipped even by fellow Vtubers. The very strict boundary he has established ironically has given him a huge amount of freedom for content.
    Meanwhile, Astel absolutely will flirt with anyone who doesn't mind it. When you flirt with EVERYONE, it loses all value, just like money. No one, fans or fellow Vtubers, take Astel's flirting seriously. That's just how he jokes around. It's also why he prefers outside collabs most of the time too, as he's more free to go absolutely wild with his jokes as opposed to fellow Holo, male or female, to which he draws the line on flirting (unless it's Matsuri, who he has absolutely no intention of giving mercy 😂).

    I Believe the people who are having these over the top reactions in male/female collabs are those who have very few IRL connections. it is not a healthy place to be in.
    Unless the talent has been explicitly marketing themselves as the "Girlfriend Experience" they aren't betraying their brand.
    These emotions they are investing into vtubers would be better off spent pursuing a girlfriend or wife. They are entertainers. you are as significant to them , as your neighbor who is 3 doors down, is to you.
    now, if an artist stops producing the content you like. stop watching and stop supporting them. but people out here making grandiose statements like they aren't just 1 of a1,00,000 random dudes throwing money at some women on the internet.
    Also you can't be cucked by a freaking cartoon, if you feel that way, even a bit, please evaluate your life.

Because they don't have GFs, she's involved in this stuff she should know this your fans are attracted to your anime avatar not whoever you are in real life.
    Next is the shipping, I always hear BaeRyS, Kromei, AmeSame, etc but the second shipping her with Vesper or Regis came up she shot that down (then walked that back I hear). She has two fanbases, otaku and normies, the otaku took their parasocial needs too far but the normies shouldn't be acting like they're above parasocial actions since they send her money to get her to acknowledge them too.

    (i am sory for the ling text)
    its interesting to think that people like bae and ame recieved next to no backlash (or none that ive seen)for interacting with males. yet kiara had her fan specifically say no to collabs with males
    i think it comes down to the audience and community the individual talents cultivate (on purpose or not) calli and kronii are kind of tomboyish, stand their ground, know what they want and isnt really afraid of confronting their community. they dont fit the "traditional idol" mold
    and this isnt to insult the others but the talents like fauna kiara and ina, may have unintentionaly cultivated a more "traditional idol" community in their fanbase. which may breed more hostility against collabs with males. as these types of fans i think would gravitate more to talents that fit their "so pure girl uwu gives me so much comfort in life. so cute with x girl"
    i think itd be beneficial for any future talents if they want to collab with the opposite gender, is to do it early on and just weed out the toxic simps. not having any collab with the opposite sex for a long period would definitely make the simps think "oh i have a chance with her"
    TLDR: hololive talents whether on purpose or not cultivate the mentality of their community to an extent, and how they do it can weed out toxic fans or not

    • @chasebladesword1211
      @chasebladesword1211 2 года назад +4

      I agree that in the future, the talents should clarify whether or not they will do Opposite gender collabs, cause although there was some anger about Ame collabing on 4chan, hardly any "Unicorns" (the toxic simps in question) got angry with Bae because she had said on debut that she would collab with guys, so they did not set any expectations for them. It will also prevent the Unicorns from ever going berserk like they did against Kronii, who they had figured would mostly stick to girls only. I could go a bit more in-depth on how these fans came to be, but it might be a long story.

    This is just the cost of being in the business of making money off men's love for women. It's especially worse in men because men can love a woman for just being attractive and existing.
    This doesn't happen with male streamers because men can't leverage their being a man to get popular. They have to be good at something to get popular, and when they can only build their popularity off being good at something, they'll only get an audience who has no feelings for them and only care about their work. The closest a man can get to being popular off their existence is by being an attractive male celebrity, and that's why they get creepy girl groupies.
