    Bravo! XR75. The bike I learned on. Thank you.

    Absolutely beautiful XR75! Nice job on the restoration! My first bike was a '79 XR80, which IMO was the best version of the '75'. Bigger engine, and still had the low pipe, and similar bodywork. Such awesome bikes!

    This was what I had as a kid and I still have it. It’s in rough shape now but I’d like to give it a shot to hand it down to my kids, the oldest of which is 8. I wouldn’t do nearly the level that you’ve achieved with this build but I think I can get it up and going again. Thanks for the tutorial and inspiration.

      You Bet! The hardest part is getting started. Try to get something done each day even if it is just ordering a part but keep the job going. The Suburban is a real challenge and I feel like a fish out of water with a big truck project. Sure I can paint a bike tank but the Suburban is huge! This is what a lot of you must feel like when working on your first bike. It is super hard to get going and I have a lot of " Analysis Paralysis" but I force myself to stop watching videos on the subject and turn on the lights and grab a tool and get going.

    What a fantastic 4 part series. The XR75 was my first dirt bike. My Father bought me an earlier version, all grey gas tank with racing stripes. I must have been in Kinder Garden, my feet couldnt reach the ground. Id slow down and he would catch me!! I can remember him yelling, SHIFT SHIFT! LOL. I rode this bike through the orange groves of central FL. until around 4th grade. Mom and Dad split and all the bikes were gone! Thanks for the fantastic rebuild!

      Thank You. I know some like the silence and some like the music. RUclips is really off on the whole copyright thing. If I had my way I would have some classic Motown or Rock in the background as is always playing while I work. Because of the copyright thing each time I video a segment I have to pause the vintage Marantz/Hafler then film. I watch a LOT of RUclips videos to learn how each bike goes together and just hate the ones that have a very low volume when talking and then that canned music provided by RUclips comes in very loud. It wakes everyone up and I have to keep adjusting the volume till the guy starts talking again. Myself I play stuff most people haven't heard in years like Pink Floyd Wish You Were Hear and in the past had it in the background but so low it was not irritating. For now it's No Background Music!

    You don’t need music for these kinds of videos. Beautiful rebuild, btw.

    Alot of times the cluch plates will cause groves from the plate hitting against the tabs causing indentations on the tab edges this is why you get a clutch that stays engaged when you pull the clutch in. Also check the basket gear to make sure theres no back a fourth play against the clutch basket. I just replaced the church basket, pressure plates and clutch springs and bolts with new OEM clutch cable

    that came out real nice! but it seems you bought the wrong color fenders and side plates..i made the same mistake on my xr80..the plain red is not the the best match for tahitian red...you need to get the "fighting red"! i bought them for my '77 and they match almost perfectly.i painted it tahitian red. sweet yz80 you did too! i have an '84 yz80..i restored it. its pretty darn clean✊

      It is always a bit more difficult to restore a bike for me as I can't restore anything I've done before! If I were to do another XR75 or even an XR80 who would watch since it would be just like this video? In a lot of ways it is fun and interesting working on something new every time but it does have it's challenges like each bike has it's own particular Demons that take me hours to research and my Service Manuals are busting at the seams!

      I have often wondered if the clutch basket tabs can be filed flat taking out the groves?

    • @Scott-mt8nb
      @Scott-mt8nb 11 месяцев назад

      @@JTSCUSTOMS yes that is exactly what you can do. Take your time with a flat file and the grooves on each tab will come out easily until smooth. Then do the same for the other side of the tabs until smooth . You can do this once. The clutch once engaged will stop sticking . Just did my clutch basket and it works like new.

    • @Scott-mt8nb
      @Scott-mt8nb 11 месяцев назад

      There's no more new clutch baskets left in the warehouses for the DS80 I have so I had to buy it used on eBay that's why I filed the tabs smooth. It's still working very good after lots of use just so you know
