You can tell she went yo ballet classes! She was so good. I wonder how much better she could have been if she didn’t let her nerves get in the way. She really was amazing!
I know styles and tastes change and that is generally a good thing. But I do miss this kind of gymnastics. I think this routine epitomizes the style of gymnastics that I think of as the “Russian/Romanian” era - classic dance training, simple rhythmic music, long lines and elegant power. She looks thin and fragile, but she is strong. Don’t misunderstand - I admire all women’s gymnastics and today’s athletes are incredible. Simone is the GOAT. But nothing says strength, class and competitor like Shannon Miller.
How is Simone the GOAT when she benefited from bouncy trampoline-springs on the floor and balance beam? When Nadia Comaneci won gold in 1976 and 1980 it was solid wood and unpadded/no-springs balance beams and no-springs floor for the floor exercise. They even made the floor and balance beam even more bouncier for the 2016 Olympics. I doubt prime Simone could have even done her 2016 routines on 2012 equipment. Nadia was doing modern-style tricks on original Olympic non-springs/non-padded balance beams and floor and also with old-style uneven bars.
Agreed. I have always missed the ballet style they used to incorporate more. Very light and elegant moves. it added a nice aesthetic that today's gymnastics lacks with it's hand flicks. The ballet flows better and ties things together nicer. 1992 was the first year I saw gymnastics on TV and fell in love. I always admired Shannon Miller.
She such a reserved person esp in competition mode classical music suited her dance better esp in the Olympics judges favor the classical dance more in international compeition. Its a fast paced peice. Times looks like she just rushing through it. Took time so by 1996 she more elegant.
The artistry is 10!!
My childhood idol! In my opinion the best floor routine by an an american gymnast ever. Nastia Liukin's floor routine in 2008 is a close second.
I miss floor routines like this.
Went to school with Shannon she will always be my favorite Missouri finest 🏅🏅❤

My all time favorite!

@@nogoodnameleftlook At Simone’s videos from 2009-2013. That will render your opinion false. Be blessed
@@gymns411 Simone sucks compared to Nadia
Gorgeous routinev❤ She was such an elegant dancer
Does anything besides Gymnastics and Ballet illustrate the beauty and strength and grace of youth 😀

More elegant? How do you get more elegant than this?
Still my favorite floor routine of all time. Even with the incomparable Simone biles
Wasn’t this full competition released and remastered recently? Love Shannon and this performance. Would love to see it crystal clear
Incredible

👍👍👏👏👏👏👏
She was robbed should have won gold
Yeah I can see that. But what a competition!
Does anyone know the name of this song?
I believe it's a Hungarian medley composed of: "The Mail", "Wonderful Violin" & "Gypsy Song" by Sándor Lakatos.
I believe it’s not a song, but an instrumental piece.
@@Vermontist1 I seem to recall someone saying it was called "Dueling Violins" but I still couldn't find it😞
Gorgeous ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Poor thing. She lost.
